I always cry at the kindness: “Don’t worry about it son.
And also the tragedy: “this is your first”. It wasn’t. It was his last. 😔
    RIP Bobby.

What I loved about Sir Bobby is that he had father relationship with the players especially with Gazza always said he was like a father to him I love that just wish that it was like that nowerdays where our boys play for for the shirt and have that deep emotional concetion with the country instead worrying about bloody money I'm not saying there all like that but it feels like a lot of are tho

    'Don't worry about it'
Cos he knew Gazza wasn't crying for selfish reasons, cos he won't play the final if they got there, it's cos he thought he'd let the lads down and his country.
I was 10 years old and cried every tear with him, for all his troubles he will ALWAYS be loved by the English, he's a living legend

Remember all the Gazza tee shirts? He was insanely popular through pure talent and a great character. If our media protected him things may have been so different. I totally understand taking responsibility for yourself. But this isn’t a normal job and he was obviously a vulnerable lad.

It's difficult not to cry watching this segment, especially knowing Paul Gascoigne's fate. Gazza, like most people with a touch of genius, was deeply flawed and very vulnerable. To think of all those supposed friends he had who milked his fame while he was at the highest point and now are no where to be seen when he really needs them most.
Bobby Robson was just a lovely person. I don't know anyone who doesn't respect him.

I had our first child during this time and my husband can name every game, score etc…through the time period of being admitted with high blood pressure to being discharged (in those days they kept you in for a week). The lovely nurses even let him stay longer one night so he could finish watching a game 😂. Unfortunately a snail that had survived getting across our very small patio for a day or so came to an abrupt end when England scored and he ran out ‘yeesssss’ and the snail was no more 😢.

    • @britannia079

So because Bobby got a Journalist kicked out It is FACT that he was on the take, or his son was? Seen as you have all the FACTS who was the player and why did the said Journalist stop investigating because he got kicked out? I would have thought he would have tried to hammer Bobby if he actually had anything on him. And Clough? You must have very low standards if he meets them.

Quite frankly you should be ashamed, Bobby was a Gentleman and never got involved in the money side, his passion was football and his beloved Newcastle United. What makes this all the more tragic is contrary to Sir Bobby Robson's comforting words, it would turn out that this was to be Gazza's only chance at WC glory, he was still just a kid at the time. 90-94 was nothing short of a disaster for England at a time when they still had a good collection of players and should have been so much more competitive had they been managed better. Afterwards other than Euro 96 nothing would reach the heights of WC 90 for him. Shame he didn't get his chance in 98 but by then Gazza was a very unstable person and perhaps Hoddle was right, maybe by then he was no longer the great player he had once been.

Who would have thought that the game against Germany in 1990 had already been Gascoigne's high water mark. It seemed as if he could be one of the great players of the future in world football yet his best days were already behind him. When people were talking about Gazza in the 90s they were thinking about the World Cup. Everybody was hoping for him to become this very player again but for one reason or another it wasnt meant to be.

Eric0816 He was absolutely immense the very next next season. It was when he fucked his knee in the cup final that the decline began.

Yes, it was from this injury that the decline began. Football was Gazza's stabilizer, he needed to train and play as much as possible as an expressive outlet for what probably was ADHD (with notable Hyperactivity, Obsessive/Compulsion and impulsivity)

I'm not English but this brings tears to my eyes when I watch it. Gazza signed for Rangers in 1995 but he was already a big deal to me because of Italian football being shown on Channel 4. And this clip along with him realising he would miss the WC final if England beat Germany and him getting emotional always gets me. Bobby knew how to get the best out of Gazza, as did Walter Smith. Sometimes a kick up the arse, or an arm round the shoulder.
And an absolute travesty that this was the last game Gazza would play in a World Cup.

Gascoigne was a football tragedy. He should have achieved more than he did. I hope he's alright nowadays.

    • @1873cb
      @1873cb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@speedking7224 You're absolutely right, he should have achieved more than he did. A player of his ability should have been looking at a Premier League title, shining in the Champions League etc.
However those two league medals and three trophies he won in Scotland probably mean an awful lot to him in terms of how happy he was in his life at that time.

"Don't worry son, don't worry son" My heart breaks, Bobby really did love Gazza and knew how to manage him. As a United fan I always wish he came to us I think SAF could've kept him somewhat disciplined.

Yeah true about players when they got out of line, but a lot of former player’s say he was the best manager 1 to 1 as in he knew what to say at the right time to pick you up. Gazza was never a wild against the manager player he was just a man who struggled with many demons I think Sir Alex could have managed him very well. If only.

Paul doesnt get anywhere near the recognition he deserves and when he has gone and passed from this Earthly World this Earthly Realm I am going to expload at all the fake souless people with their tributes and bullshat who sat their and done f all to help Paul but want to be all up in your grill when Paul has been taken back Home To Heaven Amen xxxxxxx and you just watch it happen because this Earthly World this Earthly Realm with the amount of souless people who are walking on it has become a very egotistical place especially with all the me me me brigade. It's all about me you know them sort of souless people who even on Paul's departing will all of course be about them the memorys how great they are all the laughs they use to have but had not actually seen Paul in like the last 20 or 30 fing years only seeing Paul a handful of times in that time. What Jokers how insulting and what an UTTER embarrassment to this Good Human Beings Earthly life is all that it will be

      2nd game 0 - 0 vs Holland
      3rd game 1 - 0 vs Egypt
Round of 16 1 -0 vs Belgium… lucky last minute goal
Quarter final 3 - 2 vs Cameroon. England got battered for the whole game…trust me I watched it
Semi Final 1 - 1 vs West Germany & they deserved to go on & win.
France 98 team was the best under Hoddle, unfortunately the Fa sacked him.

@@lem8829 yes really. There isn’t a team that has ever won the World Cup or Euros who had an easy ride to the final.
