Hey Paaat!: I realize I'm going way back to the beginning of this series but I finally pulled the trigger and started playing a the US campaign. It wasn't pretty! LOL I did this only after watching all 30 something videos you did with TTE and USN campaign and practicing some single battles. I also watched Wolfpack 345 and have just started watching Edified Gamers "Dominance Series". I like watching the different strategies. Although I am dead set against Wolfpack not wanting to use subs. What an asset not to use. Basically I spent the entire first 2 days of the campaign fighting off annoying plane attacks around Renell and up the slot. I know they've got a carrier group coming down the East side outside of the slot. It's what I would do plus every time I send a PBY or Kingfisher to scout around there it gets jumped by Zeros. But when I sent a flight of P38s and B-17s to the same area they found nothing. Wasn't going to send B-17s looking for a carrier group without escorts. Saw that in one of your episodes. Later I caught the same carrier group coming past one of my subs I sent up there but missed when I fired a 6 shot spread. The damned game spawned the event with me sitting right in front of the oncoming fleet. All I could do was turn into them and fire a full spread go deep and get the hell out of there. Because it was night I tried to follow them on the surface but they were moving to fast for me. So I turned back north. One of the very first things I did was ordered up 5 Gato class subs and sent them all North around Rebaul and every possible point of convoy access. I am an absolute lover and believer of those things just have to learn how to use them properly..lol. In my humble opinion they are one of the main reasons we won the Pacific War as quickly as we did. They basically cut the enemy off from all shipping and supplies. I set up two task force. One a small carrier task force using the same jeep carrier that you did. Those Hellcats have been the only thing keeping them off me most of the time. And a cruiser task force to escort supply ships out of New Hebrides. Set up the carrier task force to the West of Renell to keep air cover of the surrounding area. I even had a sub make contact with another task force coming down the slot which included one of the Kikami torpedo cruisers. Those things can be lethal in a ship battle. Especially a night battle when you don't know they're coming so I went for it. Miscalculated the speed and only got one hit on the hull. The rest were able to thread thru the convoy. I keep getting hit by these damned float planes attacking my ships and they finally found my jeep carrier and caught it with a bomb run on my stern. Was playing hell trying to stay ahead of the fires but was finally able to get every thing under control, reminded me of your episode where you almost lost the Enterprise. Although she's heavily damaged I have full propulsion and am still able to launch planes. Since I had to send the Pennsylvania back to New Hebrides to major damage and flooding (That was a long trip, she could only do 3 knots) I really need the carrier to stay. But I keep getting wave after wave of these damned jap planes and I don't know where they're coming from. So having said all this I have actually gone back to this first video to see what I missed. Feel like I'm cramming for finals. The first thing I noticed was the MOD change for the names of the merchant ships from the alpha-numeric code they used for them. Nice fix. Sorry if this seemed long and drawn out but I was just looking to get some insight from you. The first part on my campaign only lasted 2 days but I played it literally from Saturday around noon until 5:00 am Sunday morning..lol.
Wow! Thanks for the detailed AAR there man, I enjoyed it. Yeah, I get you on wolfpacks sub ban, but they are a bit OP in this game as you can almost always put yourself in good attack position once you get the hang of it. Much different than SH3 or 4. And he'd murder all the things too. The only guy Id say is better is Georg, and maybe Rockn Robbins in a sub fight. The jeep carriers are tempting, but theyre about as tough as soggy kleenax boxes, so its worth the points to get Sarah or Big E as soon as possible. Mobility matters, and the jeeps just can't hang with the big boys. Hellcats were not a thing for a bit, so id be downright scared as the Japanese if they showed up in '42, lol! Keep eyes on the slot, but be careful with surface combat, especially if youve already seen a kitakami. They'll ruin your night but quick. Distance, firepower, and daylight are your friends against the IJN, maintain dominace in those and you'll stitch them up quick. Good luck bud, and keep me posted!
Also, dont go for all the shiny ships. Mahans are worth their weight in gold, and you dont need a New Orleans over an Atlanta. Gatos punch above their weight class, and SBBs are only good for AA and bombard missions (you aint gonna run down a Kongo with the Pennsylvania). Iowa aint worth the points in the early game (fight me in the comments boys). Airpower is king, so get your bases up and your flattops on station. Sink em all before they can find you. Good luck bud!
@@ItsPaaat Hey Pat: After realizing how totally screwed I was after only 2 days into my very first campaign I decided to jump back and start from scratch. My only hope of winning was to tell Los Alamos to hurry the fuck up...lol!! A lot of comments from the videos really started to connect after trying to run thru my first campaign totally clueless. The first thing I did was set up a Port Moresby supply convoy launching out of Cairns consisting of a Harris with 2600 troops (after a small stopover in Cooktown to finish loading up more men) and a C3 for supplies. I also attached 2 Mahan destroyers to escort them and loaded them with supplies as well to even out the 2600 troop to supply ratio a little better. Total cost 39 command points. Really want to bring the Port Moresby air base up to higher level to get more planes to keep attacking up to Rebaul. The one thing that keeps paying off for me and earning me additional ship buying points is sending P38s out of Port Moresby and Australian Beufor M21s our of Cooktown loaded with HVAR and sending them between Port Moresby and Rebaul looking for all those lone merchant ships they like to send out. After I got them under way the next thing I did was send out all of my New Hebrides P38s unarmed on different radials all over the map on scouting missions. When I started seeing how many planes you were sending out and I found the control on the box to repeat patrols it only made sense. After that I had to have my Gato class subs. Sent 5 subs up on different routes. 3 around both sides and the middle of the slot and 2 heading up the middle up to patrol the slot between New Guinea and Rebaul. Finally my Carrier task force. I really wanted a larger carrier than the jeep carrier for more aircraft at sea but didn't want to spend the 120 command points to get one. So I grabbed the Wasp for 100 command points. Has (29) F4Fs, (30) SBD Dauntless and 10 TBF Avengers. Plus this thing is fast, 29.5 knots as opposed to the 18 knots of the Bogue Jeep Carrier. I also needed to make sure it was well protected, mostly from the air. To escort it I put (2) Cleveland light cruisers for lots of air defense coverage and added (2) Porter class destroyers for additional air coverage since this task force is going to going mainly into the Renell and Guadalcanal area that seems to be infested with planes. Plus I loaded all but the carrier up with troops and supplies and sent them to Renell. Realize it's not as many troops and supplies as the merchant ships but it gets it there in half the time. Anyway it was after 2am once I finally got everything the way I wanted it so I will be testing it out later to see how it works. Took your advice on the Mahans but I needed the Cleveland cruisers to provide maximum air coverage for the carrier. This is going to be, I hope🤞my main battle force to fight my way up the slot. Plan to make a destroyer strike force with lots of torpedo launchers to go after ship formations up the slot later once I've rebuilt my command points. Been great following your videos. When I look at how much more to the Pacific Theater there is than just this small area this is going to be an exciting game that could go on for years. Would love to fight as the ASBD fleet around the Indian Java Sea or all the battles to take back the Philippines.
I hear tale that there are some modders working on the ABDA campaign, but I can't see how that would not be completely dominated by the IJN. They put so many assets in the area in such a short time that the command was doomed regardless. Theres a good book on this titled "The Lonely Ships" which does a good job of covering Adm. Hart's efforts there. The sub campaign from Cavite is an interesting story tho, will have to continue that with the Swordfish here....

OMG On a whim playing TTE I built 4 fleets of DD's about 42 and loaded them with troops and supplies and hit Guadalcanal at night - went back a second time and on 12:02 PM on 8 August Guadalcanal fell to my 4,697 troops with 3,395 supplies. I'm invading Renell island and Milita at the same time. I'll then release all my DD's and wait 3 days and launch an armada!
Tested this out and this is definitely an OP strategy. Very clever, dude. They kick airstrikes on you like crazy, but you lose a tincan or two and the invasion is still on like nothing happened. They show up with a cruiser group, you outrun it and drop the Marines off an hour later...lol. Glad I'm not fighting you here in this game... @@ItsPaaat `-Oh PAAT. I did miss you.. at first I had a hard time with all the laughing, but in the end I realized that was you so I got over it.
@@ItsPaaat Hey Pat:
After realizing how totally screwed I was after only 2 days into my very first campaign I decided to jump back and start from scratch.
The sub campaign from Cavite is an interesting story tho, will have to continue that with the Swordfish here....
welcome back.
Thank you a lot Paaat . Merci 🙏🏻
Not sure if this is in the comments but the KI-45 was a Japanese Army Heavy Fighter, Allied callsign 'Nick'.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BOY PAAAAAT Missed you man!!!!!!!!
Good to see you buddy! Will fire this up here soon, appreciate the suggestions!
Also, Vark, seen that they are taking the Battle Cat on her last voyage here. Not sure if that was your timeframe, but Bravo Zulu battle kitty. You served us well.
Yahoo News: Aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk departs Bremerton for Texas dismantling.

@@ItsPaaat Yes The Kitty Maru was my ship ---- on it in 73/76 when the kids in the engine room put an oil gasket on backwards and it exploded killing 9 and started a fire - and sent us to GQ. Because we went dead in the water for hours the Russian Bears that had overflown us the day before were not able to find us the next day - seems we weren't where we were supposed to be.
@@vf-114jock2 Wow, I didn't know about that. My FIL was on the Benny, so I knew about that one, but not the incident you described here. The New Jersey channel has a new vid up on the Kitty Hawk here: th-cam.com/video/aXd7zSm4fhI/w-d-xo.html
Lots of vets posting up there. Thought I'd point that out to you if you didn't see it already. Cheers!
Awesome! Can't wait to watch this series.
Thanks! Hope it goes well....😬
Need to redo this since ABDACOM mod was added. Check the installation instructions for the PAC mod for the correct order .
Paaat -- You need to micromanage the dogfights - if you don't all your fighters will concentrate on the No 1 IJN plane, once it is killed they will go after No 2 IJN plane.
Yeah I seen that on Wolfpacks series. Looking forward to some serious furballs here....lol!
THANK YOU!
I'll probably do a combo of this strategy when I post up here soon as soon as I clear the football off my schedule. Thanks for the suggestion - its golden.
@@ItsPaaat `-Oh PAAT. I did miss you.. at first I had a hard time with all the laughing, but in the end I realized that was you so I got over it. My choices for invasions were: 31 Subs at $8 a piece that could carry either 930 Troops and 1550 supplies; 41 DD at $6 a piece that could carry either 6150 Troops and 4100 supplies; 13 CL at $18 a piece that could carry either 3900Troops and 2600 supplies. I went with DD and had enough left over for a sub. WE should call this the Aardvark sweep! LOL
@@vf-114jock2 Haha! Yep, that's now known as the Vark Sweep. The DD one is waaay too powerful, but fun as hell regardless. I'll probably build a Vark Force of assault DDs and maybe go snag some of them islands up the chain. Definitely do that for Malaita. Zot the hell outta that place. Main force will probably be a 1944-style assault on the 'Canal tho. Tennessee is not to be messed with in this mod, and the Bogue is a game-breaker.
@@ItsPaaat After you take Guadalcanal you could hit Florida and Malita Then turn in you DDs(for 3 days - + ) and get a real fleet!!
@@vf-114jock2 Ooof. Three days is an eternity in August of 42. But if the Canal is mine, it might be worth it. I'll think on it a bit. Next vid will be kickoff and I'll go with what happens.
Thnks for the help on the mod...
hey thanks for showing how to download the tte mod but when I active the mod it doesn't work no new standard battleships or new plane campaign doesn't work either
Uhh, dunno whats going on there. But make sure you have the update. I made that mistake and had to redo a video here. Download the latest version of the mod, delete out all the mods in the folder, and reload them. That seemed to work for me. Best of luck!
@@ItsPaaat thank's paaat I really appreciate it!
Hey Pat. This instructions still in use? i´m trying to repeat but i it doesn´t work. The pacific campaign appears to me but when i use the old DLL the game simple don´t run.
Paat can you show how to instal the operation magazine mod
Ooof, I dont know if I can do that without losing my savegames. I'll look into it though, but my understanding is that TTE and OM are not friends anymore. I had to roll back the most recent update just to recover my save. I'll look into it though. In the meantime, check out the unofficial wots discord. They may have some guidence there for you.
You should try to play rust it is a survival pvp game that is sick
I getcha there, but this is a naval channel here. Id probably play Arma before Rust, as I do enjoy Antistasi, but waiting for TFA here. Ima play that as soon as DDG drops it...lol.
Thanks Paaat that helped allot
I tried invading Guadalcanal with 22 subs ,,,,,,,,,,,,, NOT enough troops. I tried it with 45 DD/DDE and it was workable. Like they say "Got to get there first est with the most est
How many troops they got on the canal to start? I was thinking I might drop 7k, 2k on tulagi, and a few hundred on renell. Maybe a few on malaita too. Stretch out their response a bit.
@@ItsPaaat I took the island in 24 hours with 7K troops and 4K supplies I know not the 1 to 1 but it worked.
Btw love the videos
Thanks buddy, welcome aboard and appreciate the compliment.
The loading for a campaign is stuck forever!! Please help me
Are you using TTE? If so, delete the old one and go get the new one. Also, check to see if your autosave works...that saved me here.
@@ItsPaaat okay I'll try that
unfortunately this method no longer seems to work
Sorry bud, there have been a lot of changes since I posted this. Check out the most current mods on the steam forums and the discord, they will get you set up right.
Was a simple fix, just had to unpack the zip elsewhere first. For whatever reason it didn't like being unpacked in the wots main directory
Ey, don’t diss the Betty, she’s a good plen 😢
Haha! Hey man, everyones got the one girl they wouldnt date, even if all your friends would. Mines named betty. Cheers bud!
@@ItsPaaat He He, I know, it’s a preference thing, you like different things to I, and that’s fine
@@Loony3334 Indeed, but I think we can find common ground on Trotsky, even if we come at that from very different angles...lol! To you! 🍺 Hope to have another vid up soon.
