Been struggling to get started in TTE, but seeing you make use of the CVEs that I vastly underestimated was what finally got me started proper... if only I could remember to load up my supply ships before sending them. My first run, using the Yorktown, was successful (aside from receiving some moderate levels of damage), even managed to sink a Ryujo... but I forgot to load supplies. This has been a recurring theme. I am not smart. Really fun to watch you too, you seem like a guy that would be great fun to grab a beer with.
No worries man, we all make mistakes. Just remember to rearm whenever your ships are in port, whether youre picking up troops or not. Its easy to forget! Good luck, and happy hunting.

Your enthusiasm is awesome! I had watched all of Wolfpack345's videos he did on this game. While his narrations and video set ups are awesome no doubt about it you are obviously excited about playing this and having a fun time with it and drawing us all into your play through over his wanting to put on a great show which he did well! I’ve watched all of Wolfpacks videos and it’s amazing how you both have totally different approaches and styles to how you record. Makes watching the same campaign feel like a brand new experience
Wolfpack is great! Ive watched him for years, but yeah, I'm a bit rougher on the edges and not as tactically sound as he is. Hes like the evening news and I'm like the local news - you see a lot more dead air and bad hair here, but we cover mostly the same stories...lol! Appreciate having you here, more to come!
I love the way the tanker model is moving through the sea. So realistic. Also I don't see the ship to ship refueling towers on the tanker. I did quite a bit of that when I was in the navy {HMAS Supply} . Maybe the WW2 navies didn't have that. Also poking holes in the hull of tankers didn't affect them much because they had liquid in them already ( unless they had petroleum or furnace fuel oil or kerosene aboard which would catch fire or explode blowing the ship to pieces. )

Awesome vid! I feel you shouldn't worry about video length (within reason). At the mark where you said about cutting out because of length I was hoping you wouldn't, so I enjoyed the bonus content. I do understand some viewers would be concerned with length of video though. For me, I have to watch in segments anyhow since I generally can only sneak away from the kids or break away from my dissertation for 15 min blocks. Keep up the great work, it helps with breaking up my day and offering a period of relaxation!

Great to see you starting the campaign Pat! Told you Beafighters would good planes. Nice bombing strikes all throughout, as usual. Shame that in this game boring in large formations is never accurate. Seems like the only way to fully utilise your firepower is to tell bombers to attack individually, which leaves them open to fighters. Still, great to see so such a tense air battle. Can’t wait for the next one. 👍

While I like your idea for the decoy run to Malik. I think I would have run engineers and oil to Port Morsby. The sooner you build that airfield up, the sooner you get more aircraft and types of aircraft.
Yeah, fortunately we have more flattops to work with here tho. I want to get Sister Sara set up with Enterprise or Hornet here so if one goes into dock I still have a duty carrier to hold them off for a bit. All depends on how the next couple of vids go. Am nervous, but also thinking a couple of moves ahead here. If I can stretch em out with this opening gambit, I'll have some breathing room.
Jeeps for convoy protection was more Atlantic. Submarines for scouting. Mariners were later in the war. American fighters chew up Japanese destroyers and cargo ship nicely

@@wowailyich615 yeah, it was brutal. That came out after I cut this, and I have more appreciation for the flybois now. When I was a kid, one of my scout leaders was a ww2 top turret gunner on a b17 in the 8th. He never wanted to talk about it. This series helped me understand why.

Need some help here. I am only 25 hours or just over 1 day into the campaign. I am approaching Renell with my Wasp carrier task force. I have the entire area between New Hebrides saturated with scout planes. P38s, Kingfishers off my carrier task force, PBYs out of New Hebrides, etc. To look at my map the area between these two ports is saturated with blue plane icons. But somehow I keep getting enemy flights of enemy planes popping up out of nowhere either close to or right on top of New Hebrides. And I'm not talking about a scout plane here or there. I'm talking full squads 12 or more of zeros and Oscars. Can't figure out where the hell they're coming from or how there getting past all my scouts. I'm thinking they might have a carrier directly North of N.H. because when I pull up the see state for that area it's pretty overcast. Just sent a bunch of PBYs all over that direction. I figure what the hell they're not doing my any good just sitting at the base. But what the hell!! All this aircraft activity so close to my main base and I'm only 1 day into the game. Is this normal?? BTW that Wasp carrier Task force is a godsend. Worth the 100 command points. With 30 F4Fs I've been keeping a 12 plane cap over the carrier group at all times and so far not one group of bombers or torpedo planes have gotten even close to my carrier. Almost got nailed by one that slipped through the net. Forgot to turn on all ship radars at beginning of conflict. When I saw the bomber directly over my carrier I threw it into full reverse and hard left. Bombs went clear over and hit where I would have been if I hadn't hit the brakes...Whew..lol. But as long as I go full radar on all ships once the engagement stops my F4Fs stop them short every time. Couldn't do that with the jeep carrier. Not enough planes.
Yeah, that's normal. They kick out Oscars all the way the hell from Gasmata and all points west, so just plan on it. Watch for the white Zeros in groups of 12, that means there is a carrier somewhere nearby. Not the Zekes, those come from the floatplane bases. Keep your tfs spread out to 1k yards, that gives you room to maneuver when those land based planes come. You can set the formation before you hit the "Begin" button, so get into the habit of doing that (or take the pain, like I have...lol). And yeah, Wasp is worth her cost. Keep her safe, and be careful with the Avengers. They are your ace in the hole when something nasty shows up. Use the Dauntlesses first, the Avengers when you have to win. They wont survive more than one solid strike in force, so spend them when you're up against it. Good AAR man, keep em coming.
Question, with the planes you send out to scout and what not, did you have to keep resetting them up? Seems like a real pain if you had to do that. If not, how do you maintain their route and avoid having to re do each one manually?
It is a pain. Sometimes they reset when you load up a save, so you just have to watch and see if they are not moving from time to time. Dunno why that is, but just check them and reset as necessary.

Yeah, you're right about that. Especially from Rabaul. If I'm not mistaken, the washing machine that spotted for Kirishima and Hiei the night they ran down the slot was a floater. I may be wrong about that, but they made a difference regardless.

They do seem to work well! And yes, that was a free kill I totally missed there. Maybe I'll send them out in pairs here next time.
@@ItsPaaat I'm using the P-38 and I found and sank 5 merchants/oilers by themselves and got 10 points. Would have had 12 but the P 38 was out of ammo.

The problem with the 3 day rule for carriers if damaged their stay can be a hell of a lot more than 3 days.

Yeah, I agree. The jeep carriers would be nice here, but they were slated for the Atlantic.
@@ItsPaaat jeep carriers were used in the Pacific to replenish the planes on the fleet carriers. We had a LOT of carriers at the end of the war

Some planes will be airborne at nightfall and will stay up to complete mission
Yeah, that may suck a bit. Not looking forward to dodging airstrikes at dark. But we'll manage.

Carrier planes can be regenerated by rearming at a level 3 port

Only change I see they need to make is heavy damage to a CV and they can't do air operations.
I agree. In CAW closing the flight deck was a BFD that completely changed the tempo of the battle.
