I think Disney Channel has gone downhill since they got a new CEO in 2011. Gary Marsh has wanted Disney Channel to be more suitable for younger audiences. I think that the shows on there now except for Raven's Home are incredibly dumb. I usually will watch Disney Channel when I am babysitting my nieces and nephews.

I'm a woman and when a woman is sexually assaulted, the woman is so ashamed and afraid for society's backlash when it should be the rapist receiving the shame and society's judgement! As a result, a lot of us just don't say anything and deal with it silently. Some fall into depression and addiction if they're not strong enough to overcome the trauma.

I mean she apologized for what she said. And it happened long after she left Disney Channel. I don't agree with what she said but it was also when the virus was just getting started in the United States. There was conflicting information about the virus. When the virus first started, I wasn't that worried since the local news was telling people not panic and not worry. Of course that changed in a few weeks. It can be hard to believe when there's conflicting information about the virus. I also think that there were cases of the coronavirus in the United States before it was first reported. I know at least 4 people who exhibited coronavirus symptoms in mid January who had been to China in the end of December. Of course there weren't any coronavirus tests so they were tested for the flu and other things that doctors thought it might be. The tests came up negative for the flu and other things.

She literally got on live & said, w/ a cutesy voice “people are gonna die” as if those lives even 200 lives, meant nothing. Even if they meant nothing to her in her little bubble, you’d think she’d be smart enough/kind enough to know not to get on live and tell her thousands of viewers to not care so much/that she didn’t care as much. Over what? Coachella getting cancelled. Man it was just too stupid to wave away, but who cares? She’s just another human who people started praising as if she was God. And the only roll we know her for is on hsm anyway
@@j.m251 I remember seeing the video. I do think that she probably didn't think it was going to be as bad as it has been. I honestly didn't think it was going to be that bad when I first heard about. A lot of people don't care about people that they don't know unfortunately. I remember when the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting happened a couple of years. I was at work when it happened and I was upset about what happened and several of my coworkers were wondering why I was upset. I told the why and I was told that I needed to suck it up and it wasn't a big deal since I didn't personally know any of the people who were killed. Some people become callused to people dying since it happens every day.

I'm glad Demi was number one. That poor girl was screwed by Disney from the start. They basically cast her out as soon as they found out she was struggling with abuse, eating disorders, and drug abuse instead of helping her through thee traumatizing issues they painted her as a monster when she was just a talented struggling young woman. I love Demi's music and I will always support her.

I agree with like 98.2% of what you said but to be honest if you look at her life I still Demi would have still struggled without the house of mouse (at least a bit and been less successful). I do think since ½way through the last decade they have been more focused and involved in the well-being of their stars but I wish they would do something or address the kids they let down.

Tbf, I think Disney is more popular, so more controversies are discovered. I wasn’t really allowed to watch Nickelodeon when I was a kid because it was more mature, and I knew a bunch of kids in the same boat. We were all allowed to watch Disney, and even the most religious parents let us watch Wizards of Waverly Place and the Disney Halloween movies. Point being, more people watch Disney than Nick, meaning there’s more attention on them and their actors/actresses, meaning that more controversies come to light
Because more people care about Disney. Ariana is Nick's biggest star and she made it big after her Nick gig.

Around or a little before 2007 is when they stopped being funny IMO. After 2007 things were rare to be enjoyable.
The “controversy” about the eating disorder line in Shake it Up, was, IMO, taken way out of hand. The line was spoken by a mean girl character; a character who is written to do questionable acts and say questionable things. She’s not supposed to be the character that young children watching the show look up to.
If one of the 2 main characters said the line, bragging about not eating, that’d be a different story.

Yeah but having an eating disorder or "not eating" is NOT a morally questionable act, it's an act of self harm. I really do think the way the "joke" was delivered was in very poor taste. No matter how mean a character or person is, nobody deserves an eating disorder, and it shouldn't be used as a joke so lightly. I know the joke would probably fly above most kids' heads as she's such a minor character and a mean one at that (as you said, definitely not a role model) but you have to think about how kids and teens with actual eating disorders could feel after seeing that scene. Not to mention that other scene in So Random.

I'm disappointed that Vanessa said such bizarre things about the virus. I don't think it's an _automatic_ death sentence since people have managed to recover from it but it is very dangerous and the deaths that it does cause should not be treated lightly. I am glad that she apologized though. And to be fair, from the clip in this video alone Vanessa didn't look like she was completely in her right mind...(not trying to excuse her words though).
It's understandable that Disney wants to control the kind of imagine they project and want their Disney kids to present themselves as positive role models on and off the camera. However, the parents of these kids that are signing these contracts need to be careful that they're not locking their kids into a years-long deal that they'll want to separate themselves from as they get older. Then again, these money-hungry parents many times care more about the paycheck than their own child.

Emme Oliver IKR it’s awful. It hasn’t aged well. The jokes are insensitive, the characters are unlikable and there is a lot of racist stereotypes. There are many Disney Channel shows that are better- like Good Luck Charlie and Austin and Ally.

(One year later...) Um.... yeah, about that...
9:33 Furthermore, all episodes of "Andi Mack" that Stoney Westmoreland appeared in (which amounted to about two-thirds of the show's episodes) were basically scrubbed from further rebroadcasts. Disney+ omits those episodes, which, in hindsight, makes it pointless to have the show on the platform, since "Andi Mack" had recurring storylines that would be rendered difficult to impossible to keep up with without full context.
I’m surprised this ISN’T the number 1 on the list considering the amount of damage it did to the whole show whereas most of the others didn’t cause that much and were relatively not that serious
I remember trying to watch Andi Mack on disney+ and being confused as to why so many episodes were gone cuz its Disney's own show. and you're totally right that most of it is recurring so I ultimately didn't watch because I didn't want to miss/not understand half of it. But I admit that I had thought they'd ultimately get the other episodes because I had no idea about the awful guy.
In my opinion, what he did is definitely the worst by far (as others have said, stars' nudes being leaked definitely is NOT their fault but also most of the other controversies are only issues because they're young whereas he was an ADULT doing these things, and his scandal had the potential to destroy his victim's lives (from the video, I couldn't tell if they caught him before it happened, but I'm guessing he hurt at least one kid before being caught). Plus, it really freaks me out that he was targeting kids while working on a kids show...
The sad thing is that the rest of the cast was punished for him being awful because I'm sure there are other people like me who won't watch without the missing episodes, and if they don't play it on disney channel either, less people will know about it. I certainly don't know the right thing to do in that case, but it's a shame that they can't have some message with a hotline before episodes he's in or cut/re-film his scenes (I assume that's way too expensive), but I just feel bad for the kids and other actors on the show (not to mention the writers and all the backstage people) because it really was a decent show [from what I remember, I only saw the first half of the first season] and dealt with a lot of issues disney hadn't dealt with (the first officially gay character on disney channel including his coming out, racism [with the hair of andi's black friend being "distracting"], plus had an asian protagonist). But now he ruined all of their efforts not to mention now kids watching going through those issues won't have the help of seeing someone similar to them onscreen.

Viruses aren’t alive, how we define ourselves and bacteria, and thus they don’t have to play by the same rules(they are like zombies - inactive until they reach a host then they switch on). The point being that viruses are very different to us and many infections only ended after people became immune to it and a third of the population had died.

Dude, Demi is bipolar. She was not in a stable mental mindset at the time, when that happened, she had taken adderal the day before, I think. She had an eating disorder, depression, terrible mood swings, was cutting herself, and had a severe alcohol/drug addiction.

I remember when a photo of Miley making fun of Asian eyes went viral. As an Asian American, it hurt me so much at the time and it made me realize that racism exists. When I look back at it, it still leaves a bitter taste because of how she handled the situation. I understand she was young but I thought she would at least understand the impact it had on her young fans. I was so upset that her apology was half-assed that I really didn't want to support her anymore. I was simply just disgusted.

the little kids that watch the show that may struggle with their bodies may take it more offensively. The joke to a more mature audience wouldn’t be as much of an issue, but it’s a kids show. Plus it rips off the that’s so raven episode that also had snotty fashion industry people being offensive, but in that episode the characters handle the situation correctly.
