  • 3D Sets offers a selection of premium-quality off-road car models, which can be further enhanced with various accessories and upgrades. When you purchase one of the models from 3Dsets.com, you’re getting not only the STL files, but also pre-sliced G-Codes ready to be printed on the Original Prusa i3 MK3/S, along with a perfectly laid-out step-by-step guide and, of course, a shopping list. There are some things you simply can’t print yet.
    If you would like to get a small glimpse of their work for free, you can! We worked together with 3D Sets to release a free off-road car model at PrusaPrinters.org. Download it here: www.prusaprinters.org/prints/...

    In the middle of building a rancher 4x4 as of right now, if you're wondering why the cost is high on the files wait until you see the amount of effort that was put into instructions and how well thought out this model is, feels like assembling a premium kit

    Very cool! It’s a long time ago I had an RC car, but as I’m just thinking about getting a second 3D Printer (a Prusa) this could be his first homework. I had a lot of fun watching and would love to archive something similar like these guys. I’m tired of working 8hours a day in a job that doesn’t give me any benefit a part from money. I want to have joy, weather I work 9, 10 or more hours, but knowing it’s for a deeper purpose. For me.

    I have met one of these cars on RC expedition Růžohorky here in Czech Republic. Bodies are fine. Many cars use FDM parts or whole body. But FDM printed drive train is for very very light terrain. In just 100 meters printed car was done. C hubs, drive shafts , CVDs. All of them failed one by one. These parts needs to be at least from FRP (fiber reinforced plastic). And even stock Axial parts are not strong enough for some of us. For me even some metal parts are common failure point. :D

    This just changed the RC game BIG TIME!! Watch out Traxxas and Horizon Hobby, your days are numbered. This is the result of two very bright individuals focused on creating a product for the 3D printing market, or more so, the 3D printing community and as such, almost every part of that RC is 3D printed saving you big money. Unlike the corporate board rooms of the big RC companies like Traxxas and Horizon Hobby which are focused on squeezing every cent out of a hobbyists pocket by creating mediocre products which practically REQUIRE upgrades out of the box. Oh yea, those upgrades are conveniently offered by the same company that sold you that pile of worthless plastic.
    You can't and will never bamboozle the 3D printing community, they are simply much too bright and these two individuals are a testament to that.
    Between this incredible example of development and the countless other 3D printable RC's found for FREE online, the old days of screwing over the hobbyist are slowly coming to an end. No more Ferraris and million dollars homes you for corporate RC.

    • @MikeSmith-km9ff
      @MikeSmith-km9ff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The big brands have nothing to worry about. There is a reason they built a slow crawler as their platform. 3D printed parts do not take much abuse before they break (I know, I've tried all sorts of 3D printed replacement parts). As long as you are fine going 2mph this will work. Put these parts on a real RC car and they won't last through a single battery.
      The big brands have to pay for expensive injection molds that likely cost more than the car you drive, for each part, but they last.
      I think this platform that they designed is great and it seems they are charging a reasonable amount for the files. It looks like it would be a fun project if you are into 3D printing but this is a toy and not a hobby grade RC vehicle.

    • @Clickbaiters
      @Clickbaiters 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MikeSmith-km9ff Lol, injection molds cost more than the car you drive😂😂😂 Well, in this case, molds could run $30k-$40k so no, not in this case. Traxxas has been using the same molds for 20 years so I think it has more than quadruple payed for itself. Wait, if the STOCK plastic parts didn't hold up you think a part printed out of PLA will? You never disclosed what filament you used but there are stonger filaments out there. This is a toy? News flash, all RC's are toys, even the $1400 ones like my 1/5th scale. Just because people "feel superior" because they dropped $550 on a "hobby grade" RC doesn't make it NOT a toy. It's a toy, and anyone not into the hobby that sees you driving it at the park thinks you're a grown ass man playing with an RC toy. So a Tamiya CCO1 based crawler or a RC4WD Trailfinder will smoke on of these on the trails? I doubt that. The ability to 3D print any bodies that fit the chasiss is priceless and cheap compared to buying a $60 Proline body, buying paint(s) then buying the accessories you'd like. No comparison. The 3D printed RC's offered aren't pretending to be comp crawlers. They could have easily designed portal axles to give those things more capabilities. This is just the begining, printers across the board and material types are getting better and cheaper faster than ever.

    • @3dsets709
      @3dsets709 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeSmith-km9ff Mike, the real reason for choosing the slow crawler is that "anybody" can handle it. But we promise that we will not stick just to this category in the future.
