You need moss, substratee, springtails, lighting, air ventilation, a mister, springtails to eat mold, maybe some more inscets like jumping spiders and small crickets to complete the ecosystem vibe. Also, those spring tails are VERY important for mold growth prevention. an array of different plants provide good fresh air for all the creatures. And small vines and a small pond is also a great feature! Dont leave the glass terrarium in direct sunlight thought!!!!!! Hope this was a bit helpful. Ask me for more (or any) info about this. You’re better off using soil most regular dirt does not really have the absorption requirements for a good ecosystem. Dirt would be better for a dry terrarium like a desert.
I hav a question, how does the drainage layer work? Like, water can percolate there, but after that it'd get lodged, won't it? There's no hole at the bottom of the container to let excess water out, so how does the drainage work?
