    Hi Derek, I completely agree with your comment that gas meters shouldn't be installed under kitchen sinks. However, I raised this issue with Gas Safe following an incident, and they confirmed that no regulations explicitly prohibit the installation of gas meters in that location. They stated that a gas meter should not be placed under a kitchen sink only if the environment is proven to be damp and mouldy. I can email Gas Safe's response to you if you'd like, but I fully agree with your perspective.

      My name is Dian Pelangi from Jakarta in Indonesia, I am a fashion designer and I want to use this media to tell everyone to be careful about getting loans on the internet, so many lenders here are fraudsters and they are here. tricking you with your hard-earned money, I applied for a loan for around Rp900,000,000 women in Malaysia and I lost around 29 million without taking a loan, I paid almost 29 million still I didn't get a loan and my business was about crashing because of debt.
      When I searched for a reliable private loan company, I saw another online advertisement and the name of the company was THE WORLD LOAN COMPANY. I lost 15 million with them and to this day, I have never received the loan I proposed.
      Dear God, my friends who applied for loans also received the loans, introducing me to a trustworthy company where Mrs. Christabel worked as a branch manager, and I applied for a loan of Rp900,000,000 and they asked for my credentials, and after that they finished verifying my details, the loan was approved for me and I thought it was just a joke, and maybe this was one of the cheats that made I lost money, but I was stunned. When I get my loan in less than 6 hours with a low interest rate of 2% without collateral
      I am very happy that God used my friend who contacted them and introduced me to them and because I survived making my business soar high in the air and liquidated and now my business is flying high in Indonesia and no one will say it. know about fashion companies.
      So I suggest all people who live in Indonesia and other countries who need loans for one purpose or another to contact
      christabel mother via email: christabelloancompany@gmail.com
      You can also contact me at my email: (lianmeylady@gmail.com) and Sety introduces and talks about christabel, she also gets a new loan from christabel, you can also contact her via her email: permatabudiwati@gmail.com Now, all who will I do is try to fulfill loan payments that I send directly to their account every month.
      A word for wise men is enough
      Thank you once again for reading my testimony, and may the Lord continue to bless us and give us a long life and a prosperous life and may God do the same good work in your life.

    Hi derek, hopefully you have time to help clear this up for me,
    Been to a flat to do a landlord check, found the newish boiler to be enclosed in an accessible stud tiled void built onto the external wall this enclosure also has an old gas meter inside, both the boiler and meter is accessible via the bathroom on the same wall as the bath/shower.. would the gas meter be in a NCS situation? And also would this installation be classed as within zone1 of the bath/shower. Im thinking because its enclosed perhaps its now not within any zone in that bathroom? Any help would be great as not come across this scenario before thanks and love the videos

    Corrosive atmosphere? Recently had a meter installed in the cellar of an old terraced property, a common enough type of installation you come across all the time. I was there to do a landlords inspection, I found a gas leak coming from the gas meter case where condensate water had eaton through it. This cellar was dripping with condensation all the time according to the tenant, contacted the gas supplier who just came out and replaced the meter in the same location.

    It might be useful for newbies to know who owns what on the gas meter too.

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The meter is owned by the gas suppliers and the meter box is the responsibility of the house owner so if the ECV, anaconda, regulator or meter needs replaced then the supplier picks up the bill but the box is the house owner’s problem

    • @cjmillsnun
      @cjmillsnun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomkatgastraining Kinda, You're correct in that the supplier is responsible for the gas meter, but it is owned by a Meter Asset Manager (National Grid Metering, SGN Metering and SMS are 3 examples) - otherwise you'd be looking at a meter change with every supplier change - which isn't feasible. The regulator and anaconda (they are a single assembly) are usually owned by the MAM as well. The service pipe and ECV are owned by the Gas Distribution Network (either Cadent, SGN, Wales & West Utilities, Northern Gas Networks or one of the plethora of IGTs) and the meter box is owned by the house owner.

    • @garethhartland5332
      @garethhartland5332 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I work for a smart metering company, the door and lock are the responsibility of the homeowner/landlord the easy bit.
      It gets tricky when the bracket is damaged, my company policy is we change the bracket, which I think is wrong however the regs state no operative shall drill a meter box other than the approved entry points.
      Because if it’s a inset meter box the gas supplier would need to remove the main service pipe to fit a new rear box.
      So should it be the supplier who repairs the box and not the meter operative??

    Something not mentioned is shear bolts and washers.
    It’s my understanding you have to disconnect and remove a meter in order to solder new pipework in for example to a new appliance.
    Do these get in the way how are they removed? Do they need to be replaced afterwards?

    I work for a utility company that is planning to replace the gas supply to a block of flats, the plan is to abandon the old internal riser and replace it with an external steel riser which will branch off into each flat.
    The planned location for the new ECVs is in the kitchen cupboards under the sink which would obviously mean that the meter would also have to be relocated into the same cupboard.
    Am I understanding you correctly that this is not allowed?

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you read the British standards it tells you the locations not to use and they class under the sink as I place not to use because of cleaning chemicals. In this situation it would be better to install the meters at ground level in meter boxes and put AECV into the flat. I have never come across a supply who would put the meter in that location but there’s always a first time

    With the rise in gas prices is it possible to fit lpg direct to gas meter instead of from supplier? I want to cap their input and replace with lpg instead... Any advice?

    • @tomkatgastraining

      Noooooooooooooo you will need a gas engineer with lpg qualifications to change all the appliances over if they can be and install a new system of gas supply

    My mother's gas meter has just been fitted with a new regulator by Cadent gas after the boiler engineer issued a danger do not use certificate as he had recorded low pressure on the system. The gas meter is situated under the kitchen sink and as per your video, this is not to current standards. the gas meter has been there since at least 1980 if not before. Should the gas meter be relocated and at whose cost would this be?

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the gas meter won’t be relocated but chemicals should not be stored with the gas meter

      Because it’s a g4 meter the u 6 on the meter is not the type. We call a u6 meter the one that is in ft3 and a g4 in m3 and this meter is in m3

      Worked on the supply side for years, same here. We occasionally came across medium pressure to the house with the meter under the sink which was corroded and leaking. These would invariably break off filling the property with gas and rust.
