"You were born broken.... You're Bojack Horseman--there's no cure for that." They came out swinging with their first episode of their second season. And this isn't even peak yet.
From all the episodes in this show, Im willing to bet that they will hate S2 EP11 the most. Its a great episode, but I just have a feeling that they wont be ready
@lainothefirst It's definitely a test of tests in terms how despicable they can push making BoJack's character. And whether or not you can handle pushing further and deeper into his character. For me, they wrote BoJack in a way where when I got to that episode, I definitely hated what he did, but whether or not I hated _him_ was a little harder to answer. We'll see.
@@moonleafteaofthemonth Yeah, I meant to say more like they will hate it, but not in a bad way. Hopefully. Its a great episode and one of the worst moral rock bottoms Bojack has throughout the show
My mum was basically Beatrice. The argument between her and Bojack in the cafe really hit home, because I had several arguments just like that with mother
I understand what you’re saying about “maybe it would have been easier if she was physically abusive” because yes, victims of emotional/verbal abuse do try to rationalize the actions of abusers by thinking “well I was never hit, they didn’t hurt me, it’s not really abuse” but children with physically abusive parents also do that rationalizing in the form of “I deserve it, this was my own fault” etc. in both cases it can be incredibly hard for the victim, especially children, to understand and recognize abuse for what it is.
Damn what an incredible, but underrated episode. Also, about the TV scene in the beginning, Raphael Bob-WaksBerg (the creator), meant to imply that young Bojack was listening so hard (hence why he kept getting closer to the TV), and that he ONLY heard that part and internalized it
Mind you Bojack is taking Diane's advice from season1, which was "all you are is only what you do". But the problem is the advice is flawed, because Diane is flawed. She and bojack are like two sides of the same coin.
Bojack's childhood scene bares uncanny similarity to my childhood years. Lots of yelling in the background and narcissistic abusive grandma. Bojack is like a horror version of what I could've turn into if, by some miracle, I wasn't very good at introspection and finding healthy relationships outside of my family...
Been refreshing for hours, this is my favourite part of Mondays. And season 2 is great imo, so can’t wait to see how you’ll react to later episodes! :D
The biggest damage BoJack's mom did to him wasn't even the direct abuse, BoJack's attempts to improve could've worked. Mom's biggest damage to him was to recontextualize BoJack's fucked up nurture as his nature, not only did he messed her own son up, she goes will and beyond up destroy any possibility of self improvement.
Ah man this episode so good, and also I'm just so glad that you guys are seriously, finally reacting to this amazing adult animated show. Can't for you two to get the full Bojack experience within the future seasons further on down the line when it comes to dealing with Bojack messed family upbringing as well as the other characters and their issues and flaws. Just wait because will get even more depressing Real way later in the show.
The show really finds its stride this season. It has some fluff and is still BoJack centric (I honestly think one of the things that make the last three seasons even better than 2 and 3 is the ensemble approach), but man it has some great episodes and some solid character growth.
[Slight spoiler for this season] I like that Diane's "Watch the wire" job is kind of a reflection of what she goes through this season. She feels like it's a waste of her skills and that she should do something better and more helpful, but it's much more important than she realizes.
Throughout the whole show there are some really good episodes in each season. And up to a certain point these good episodes just get better. Im so excited.
I watched the Max Headroom TV… special?…pilot?… whatever it was. I don’t think Fox was quite a thing yet, but it was on the local affiliate that would become Fox. I remember it being both kind of funny but also really dark, especially for a little kid. The fact that that character was used in a bunch of ads and stuff later is so weird.
By the end of the show I truly felt equal about them. Be it level of sympathy or defensiveness. Who knows, if we got to experience more in-depth look at his father maybe even he could be seen on the same level of shittines/pity as them.

BoJack is a living example of the phrase. “Your trauma isn’t your fault, but it is your responsibility”

@@lainothefirst STFU with borderline spoilers?
Wendie Malick is only capable of voicing either the worst mom in animation or one of the best moms in animation. No in-between.
Her role as Durpleton's mother in Centaurworld follows that perfectly.
Can't believe one person could voice both Beatrice Sugarman AND Edalyn Clawthorne, truly a phenomenal talent
@@corwinchapman4565it was the weirdest thing getting used to her as Eda lmao. Being a supportive mother after Bojack ???
@@MultiAlerocks I actually knew her as Eda first, so it was really weird the other way around

Yea same, that scene makes me physically uncomdortable.
"It takes a real narcissist to think anyone wants to read a book about him"
"I read the parts about me"
"You know how I feel about Anne Frank"

Beatrice. What a character.
The whiplash that comes with hearing Wendie Malick voice both Bojack’s mother and Eda. 😂
I think the bros would enjoy The Owl House.
I believe they've stated previously that they've watched The Owl House.

Livia Soprano vs. Beatrice Horseman. Discuss.
Great reaction!
Beatrice sucks so much, probably my favorite character in the show lol
