Timmy... Timmy my man, you leaving the mining bag, PHYSICALLY hurt me. I thought you would pick it back up and take off the glider for the return home. I know more can be made but a full pick, 64 iron nuggets and black coal is no small loss. I hope it de-rendered but since you slept in chunk proximity I'm pretty sure that's lost.
Any book and scroll you find on the bookshelves and tables in the library that has a glowing blue on it you can pick. Also there is no way out of the pit. And you might want to make glass display cases of your own for your treasure room for all that stuff in the display cases in the library.
Congrats on fininshing the archives! FYI you can pick up several books in the shelves of the library. They're marked bright green/blue on their spines. You can also pick up a lot of decorative items in the archives as long as they're right-click-to place. So you can grab swords and maces off the racks on the walls of the armory and stuff like that. If you ever go back to the archives to pick up the stuff you left behind then that's something to keep in mind! Edit: oh yeah, and the very messed up architecture of the archives is very intentional. All the duplicated rooms, impossibly tall and narrow corridors, the skewed hallways, etc. Something very bad happened there.
Re: burning coal to run gas lamps, coal gasification is a real thing. Historically, gas lamps did in fact burn "town gas" manufactured from coal, as the switch to natural gas occurred well into the 20th century.
My strategy for preparing for the Archives is by making a small outpost with two trunks four filled crockpots of food and a bed. I am a bit of a hoarder and I tend to make a few rounds to gather any treasure I find. I also bring pies to eat while in the archives themselves. The point of it is to loot the archives bit by bit to store the loot in the trunks for easier return trips. P.S. next update will feature next major location and easier methods of travel (i.e ridable mounts and maybe actual boats)
To answer your question, there is a way up if you get down to the middle of the archives. it's pretty hidden from view if you want to take it down but you won't be stuck. Also, there are so much lore books in the library that you didn't take... Everytime there's a teal inscription on the spine of a book, it's a lore book you can take...
The first time i entered the archives i was so freaked out by the giant figure looming in the middle of the center chamber 🤣 i thought for sure that would be the bossfight
@@TimmyTwoNipples you could have a book reading episode. My friend have a server you could join. Lots of good people on it. We’re making a farming village. Your videos are funny.
You can actually make it down to the pit through the set of stairs. I made it down there the first time i went to the archives. The stone staircase is broken in the way down from the seccond to thrid level but it's normal from the third into the pit. Also you're missing quite a lot of stuff in the library resonator
I don't know if you've discovered this, you might have discovered this already and I just forgot, but in case you haven't yet and you're interested in the polished stone variants, you need to quarry out the stone with a special tool and a chisel.
Man, it would be so cool if there was a way to stay in the air longer, kinda like how with Minecraft's elytra you can fly for way longer using rockets. Some sort of way unique to Vintage Story wouod be optimal.
Dude I wonder if you can pickup speed towards the end of your glide by swooping down slightly, and then pulling up a bit to gain some air? No idea but could work.
so, turns out that the Omok piece you picked up? that's for a board game! apparently it plays like Connect 4, but you gotta have five pieces in a row to win.
i’m not sure if i’m insane or not but the resonator thing and the one in the library kinda look like the outline of that thing hanging out in the middle of the archives.
I warned you of what would happen if you did another cliffhanger; prepare to face the pump head! Even though you had a Biden moment and forgot what a resonator was, I must say that this vid was a good vid, keep up the good work!
what happens after this? wouldnt mind more base building, but in terms of combat i would say nothing can touch you at this stage. also would you consider challenge runs or other games with similar survival aspects such as dwarf fortress, rimworld, stalker anomaly/gamma.
I'll be working on my base for a couple more episodes and then I'll probably sprinkle in some other games in-between! Might do a modded playthrough or perhaps a similar survival game :)
"I feel like a medieval peasant, learning more from the pretty pictures rather than the lore books". Funny you should mention that, Christian iconography is made partly for that reason. The main reason for iconography is because it is a confirmation of Christ's incarnation (since He was born into the world and could be seen by human eyes, and you could have taken a photo of Him if you had a camera, therefore He can be depicted in images. Icons are meant to be used in a very similar way to how you would treat, say, a photograph of a dead relative. You might talk to it and kiss it but you're actually talking to the person on the image, not the image itself.), but it also served to teach doctrine and the Scripture before literacy was widespread, there's a reason there is a minor order of clergy called a "Reader", which still exists today but for different reasons. It was either seeing icons and frescoes, or hearing the readings in church during the daily services, or perhaps after church during catechesis (which, honestly, even baptized members should attend. there's always more to learn) that you would learn Scripture. Obviously not every church has a frescoes or icon of every event in the Bible, but it has a decent amount. Plenty of depictions from the Lives of the Saints, too. Suffice to say, absolutely. It is easier to learn concepts through imagery than text. Just look at Protestants, every one of them has a million contradictory ideas about what the Bible means. That's not to say having images automatically makes you correct or anything. Roman Catholics have images and they're... a few sandwiches short of a picnic, if you will. Not playing with a full deck, either.

The resonator lets you play music cylinders. They can be found in chests, traders, and other ways. Play them during a storm for warped music.
Ooh the storm music would be crazy! I'll try to remember lol
Just realized the black shape in the center of the Archives is a massive Bell... 😱
lol you asking what a resonator was at the end got me.
bit light of a cliffhanger on this episode lol

That resonator is hard to find! Talk about luck! You can use it to play something the most annoying enemy drops.
OoOh I'm excited!!
You see all those chests, and the idea that you're about to get a lot of loot is just something you take for granite.
Lmao you're right, I've been taking a lot of things for granite
I think the thing in the hole is a giant resonator...
I need a closer look 😭
