    Splitter Wars 2020 is an excellent demonstration of each splitter. I'm sure this made it easier for people in the market to decide. To buy big or small, or to build it themselves. I had a great time viewing all of these.
    Thank you for putting this together.
    Please have a 2021 version.
    Wooly - you the man.

    I like the Easton splitter but I have a Timber Wolf TW-1 that will keep up with the rest that I saw. It is a great little splitter that is American made, has a Honda engine, is light and easy to move and will split a lot of wood with a 4 way head. For such a small splitter, it will eat up 20-24" rounds

    • @TractorTech

      The TW-1 is a nice splitter at its price point.

    Good demonstration of log splitters but I personally dont mind the old school conventional log splitter most people dont need a commercial grade log splitter if they arent selling wood even selling wood you can get by with a conventional log splitter you'll still make money being outside and working on your woodpile is just as important as how fast you split it good competition though

    My only thought is; next time everyone should use ONLY a two-way splitting wedge. Yes, some were split bigger than others but you addressed that. Let's make it an equal playing field with a two-way splitting wedge. Other than that this was a GREAT demonstration. Thanks and I am looking forward to next year.

    I think you did a great job in every way! I enjoyed all the different splitters and seeing how they worked. Everyone Won! I have a DR Rapid splitter which is very similar to yours. If you set up your process properly, it will be as fast as or faster than any other process as long as you don't have gnarly/knotty difficult to split wood. I put those on a Oregon 28 Ton hydraulic splitter. Setting up the process to minimize steps, delays, and repeated lifting will be the fastest. I am 77 and have been splitting wood since 1972. Good Work! Thanks!

    Great idea, it is great to compare everyone's splitters. We did a video too google "splitter wars 2020 papple" just over five minutes for a face cord. Our split size is a little larger than some but it is what we want. Ours is a 10 way box splitter with leg operated controls. I designed it after watching a lot of you tube videos. Just roll them in and it pushes out fully split wood.

    • @TractorTech

    I think we all had a lot of positive comments. Some did not understand a few rules and we could see in the nature of the comment. This was a great demonstration of each splitter. Whatever the time to split a face cord, would the rounds be identical or not, would they use the exact same species or not, people were able to compare splitter in very similar situations. Thank you for including me in that demonstration, I appreciate! Thanks!

    Good evening Roger. Thanks for the excellent wrap up and summary of the Splitter Wars initiative. I have received a lot of positive feedback on my channel, on the collaborative effort you organized. Yup, tough to try to get several folks, across different geographic regions, to find similar wood or diameters, but I think it was correct to require the 6 splits, regardless of size, to provide a statistically reasonable comparison. The size of the rounds is insignificant, in respect to the effort, of the splits. So all good in my books!! I think it was really helpful for a lot of people, based on the feedback I received. And I want to extend a huge thanks to you for organizing such a special, and unique, collaboration across numerous channels on TH-cam! Good stuff and thanks again for including me in this helpful initiative. All the best and talk again soon!

      @@TractorTech I agree that is the biggest down fall of it. If too much wood builds up in the cylinder it can bust the seal. Also like you pointed out if too much builds up at the end it doesn't want to split though rounds all the way on the return stroke. HF should have made some sort of shroud to cover the end of the cylindar to prevent this. I have to constantly dig out wood with needle nose pliers. Other than that it's been a good splitter for the price. I'm going to make a 6 way wedge for the push through and add a 13hp honda soon.

    Even though the title said "Splitter War", I considered the videos as a reasonable demonstration of different splitting machines by the owners. The outcome would be different if the manufacturers had presented their videos(probably edited). Looked like all the participants had a good time even if they worked. I have seen some videos of mechanical splitters(mostly from Europe) that would be considered hair raising.

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is what we were shooting for. I know when I go to buy something it is nice to see the manufacturer demo the product, but it is even better seeing a 3rd party use it. We all have a fair amount of experience running our splitters so I think it was a good representation of them. Yeah, those Euro splitters can get sketchy looking.

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The split size is going to be smaller next time, like my normal size of firewood. Specifing a size would create problems. If I said 4x4 splits, then someone in the comments would probably say one split looked like it was 4.125x4. It needs to be a number of splits that equals a smaller size. We may do smaller wood so it will be easier for every to handle. I'm thinking about some different options, so I can include more people. Can you describe your splitter?
