I've been following this amazing series and arrived at the end im now trying my best to contintue on my own but i'm really stuck on how do i get rid of the low roughness for the axe holder and straps since all is on one material and share the same roughness as the axe head. Thank you for such a detailed and exciting lessons! It’s been really challenging and really helpful for me as a beginner. 👏🏻✨
    You have a talent for explaining difficult things!
    - I have a question about the material properties. Sorry if I didn’t notice same question in the comments.
    In this nodes structure we made maps for the whole low poly mesh and main material properties are the same. I need to apply different adjustments for blade, handle and leather (roughness, specular and metallic), as they share blades properties at the moment and everything looks too shiny or oily. I know how to apply different materials to basic mesh, but we already baked high poly, so if I apply new material to low poly faces, it looses all high poly information.
    There should be some easy solution for it for sure, but I can’t get it yet. 😅
    - The handle and leather are hand-painted, aren’t they?

    I finally made it to the end and I must say I'm really disappointed by this series. The amount of shortcomings to likes and positive comments ratio is really overwhelming. I don't know if you are deleteing negative comments or what because I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees it. Like It's really annoying that sometimes you show a wrong method to do something for example sculpting the runes but then reverting everything and using masks in the next video. Also worth to mention that you didn't put a low poly model for those who didn't save it because u forgot to mention it of course or not putting textures in the description as you said(I stumbled this across many of your tutorial series, so it's not the first time). You didn't even finish this series but in almost every video you pursue people to donate you or buy your paid courses, shame. There isn't anything for everyone, but there was so much info packed into this series. I know the series ended prematurely but you're watching this free of cost. If you did follow the series all the way here, don't tell me you wasted all your time doing this? Very few people do the _entire_ game asset workflow for free online, surely you must've learned something that's worth more than "whatever you paid for to watch this series?" Or else you already know your stuff and should not be complaining either way.

    • @xWaszka
      @xWaszka 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kinda agree with you, but I remember this was really annoying tutorial to follow. Especially this part with runes when he sculpted them by hand just to revert a save in the next video which obviously he didn't put in the description so I had to remake whole axe head for this, great tutorial xD! But now I'm already way beyond that, thankfully he effectively discouraged me to continue learing stylised 3d graphic. I recall I gave up trying to make wood texture for this one. I wouldn't say i wasted my time doing this but I later found much better tutorials for free and learned that blender is just a tool for modeling, texturing and baking is a no no.

    Grant, I'm sorry man but this is a horrible send-off. If you knew you were going to end the series why not do one last video to finish it off? I ran into many issues with my attempts to colour the rest the object. My straps and handles would not change colour in render mode. It just feels very bad when you see what the final product could look like in the first video and not able to finish it. You should've at least finished the rest of the object before calling it an end. Your tutorials aren't bad but now I'm not so sure if I will check the rest of your channel out. Not a good look at all from me. I'm very disappointed.

    One question now that we are at the end. I followed most of the steps as you said to do (besides my straps, I just did not manage to make them as sharp and distinct as yours so I just asume that yours are leather straps while mine are cloth straps^^) and now blender says that my Axe is roughly 4m high (4 of the 1m square units). Does that matter? I heard that blender can mess up normals or other things when your object is to small. But does it matter for the game I'm using it in? does it matter for other objects? Do they need to be relativ to each other? For example if my axe should have a hight of 1m does that mean if I make other assets should the all be 4 times as big as I intend them to be so that they match the axe? Or does it not matter at all and I just scale them all down and up as I want later in the engine? Sorry for the weird questions but I always have trouble were Code and visual assets meet.

    • @grabbitt

    One question though, unity reads roughness map through the alpha channel of the metallic map. But i can't seem to make it work. Does not ticking the "Alpha box" when we create the textures effect this workflow in anyway? How do we combine roughness and metallic maps together correctly for it to work with unity? Since this is a game asset creation tutorial, i think it would be relevant to clear this out.

    • @grabbitt

    It helps me a lot, and
    i just missed a brief instruction on how to export to some engine as unreal or unity, maintaining the quality and integrity of the model and maps created with such care!

    Hi Grand. I must say that I find your videos the most interesting to watch and follow. I understand that you have finished the axe tut but could you give some guidelines about texture painting the handle. What ever I've tried I didn't even come close to your result. Have painted the handle in blender or on another app?

    Hi great video thanks. I have a question.
    I just starting making stylized low poly assets & I intend to sell them on different platforms. Should I combine & bake all maps in a single texture, or upload diffuse, metallic, roughness & normal maps separately? because when I check android games, it looks like they are using all information including lighting in a single image texture.
    thanks

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on what you think the assets will be used for
