Just bought a second hand Kia rio 2013 (34km mileage) this weekend and I am very impressed about the car and it will be my first car driving it here in Australia.Definitely, I will buy a brand new Kia Rio someday!
Eric Silva I got the gdi model 2013 with manual 2nd hand for around 7k. The things gets up and boogies when you turn off traction control.. Really want interior leather and electric heated seats for winters.. love them in the cerato and would go well in the Rio also.. would love to try the heated steering wheel too. Also the reversing camera makes reversing a breeze and eliminates the guess work.
I bought mine in sedan standard trim in 2015 because that's the only way you can buy it with 6-speed manual. Never looked back as this is really a blast car to drive...city or highway! The standard trim in LX+ (Canada version) with 6-speed manual, 4-wheel disc brakes, heated seats, 138 hp., etc. & cost much lower back then. I've put up 60K clicks with it no problem and never needed top up oil after each oil changes. What matters most...it's very RELIABLE!
2:45 "Two transmissions, automatic and manual" - Is manual available with all trims and options like automatic? This is important information for some buyers. Manual available on all trims is big news and a solid factor in buying.
Yes, the last time I was buying a car with a manual, I could only buy it on a stripper, and I hate them for it because the driver's seat could not even be upgraded. Next time I will make sure I do not patronize such practices and will look at companies that take me seriously, even if it costs me more money.
I absolute HATE cars with CVT automatic transmission. I want a small Asian-brand hatchback 'CAR' for the fuel efficiency but ability to pop open a hatch, but I want a conventional automatic with GEARS in it, not a CVT. And I want a car that has a manual parking brake lever, not some button. Nearly impossible to find these days. Toyota = the Yaris has a 4 speed, and the Corolla hatch has a CVT. Honda has the Fit with a CVT and parking button. Nissan has the Versa with a CVT. Subaru has the Impreza with a CVT. Only the new Hyundai Accent hatchback, and the Kia Rio hatchback offer what I want, so that's what I will be getting.
I love my 2017 Kia Rio with a 6 speed manual transmission. I am getting 37 mpg average. I paid $11,300 new. Why would they make the new 2018 Kia Rio heavier, less powerful, and have drum brakes in the rear? Not acceptable.
I love my 2013 Rio , and Ive had zero issues with it in almost 5 years of ownership. However its not very good on gas. Hopefully this problem is solved in the new generation.
Jose Zerpa do an engine swap.. or have the ecu tuned and gear timing altered via ecu Most of the engine management is computer tuned.. they can help get more fuel efficiency or power.. whatever you decide.
Good review. It's definitely a solid car. The last generation was good too. After test driving an LX and an EX, it was the EX that felt really good for a subcompact. This new Rio is likely to be the top of the class.
Super nice, but the seats don't really fold down properly? What if you took the headrests off? Will it lay flat? If not, I'm buying a Chevy spark even if it's ugly!
I’ve had my Kia Rio for almost 2 Months now. My Plates finally came. No problem having a friend put them on the back. But I go to the front since we are required to have both. What the heck? There is absolutely no where to attach the front license plate! Could someone help me if you’ve had this issue or might have an idea? Thank you.
3:16 There you see he has no technical knowledge about cars. With small light cars there are always problems with the rear disc brakes. So they made an advantage and use drum brakes again.
I just bought a Kia Rio, he arrives at the end of february, but I don't have an armrest.. I haven't really driven with it for a long time but I think it's going to bother me. The one in this video has an armrest, is it because it's the 2018 model? Or could I ask the garage to put an armrest in mine too?
Silke Devriendt aftermarket will look after you or go into the Kia dealer and find the centre console part number with the arm rest.. There are part number catalogues online.. you just need to find your model and year.. (usually several models will use the same base in their design so parts will be interchangeable) and the part number and interchange the part. Not too difficult.. even for a novice. Or get it fitted at the dealer for a small cost.
My 3days old Kia Rio 2018 FULLY IMPORTED engine defect, flapping sound (they dont know due to what) and key chain sound (due to using RON95, they said the car is designed for RON97) from the engine or gearbox. Reported the case since 8/1/19 until now, no solution nor how they wanna fix this. Im aware KIA Motors Corp already got my case file. KIA MALAYSIA Careline staff, Puan Labilah told me "currently our principle is busy with system upgrading, your car still can drive rite? If you wanna bring it to consumer affairs, thats your rights." Ok, i will do that, Thanks. So, if ur car still can drive, then u r not priority and ur case will be sitting on shelf somewhere. Manufacturing defect due to QC issue in Korea, not priority. If defects due to wear and tear, next year, I assume. If u wanna buy Kia Rion 2018 6 speed and u wanna pump RON95, buy other cars unless u wanna enjoy key chain sound while driving. IT IS DESIGNED this way! Kia Motors Worldwide Quality Control in seriously in question. A brand new imported car with engine defects, along come with other sounds.
Watching this in 2022, Kia has really cheapened the Rio since the 2018 introduction of this generation in the USA. No more leather. No more fog lights. They changed the design of the alloy wheels and they are quite ugly now. Not sporty looking like the wheels in this video. Why, Kia? Why!?
It's void of design character much like Audi and VW so it sort of looks upscale. Not always a plus for an entry car. Mazda and VW have solid cheap offering that come off too upstream and I honestly think it subconsciously plays a part in how budget minded shoppers perceive the car. I think these cars sell better when they look the part of an affordable cutesy/energetic entry car.
That is the common belief but I think it doesn't quite apply for the more entry level of vehicles. I won't be surprised if this continue to lag behind others in its class, but this time more so. Upstream looks frighten potential buyers and in this class most want something more distinct than conservative.
I vaguely remember hearing about that. It certainly looks a lot like the current VW polo. It also has a starting price of just below 15 grand. Most will likely not be top EX trim models. I can see this appealing to the same older crowed that wound up embracing the xB, xD and Honda Element when they were after younger buyers.
Who said I want 500hp? My car is 170hp and 184tq and I paid 20k with decent features. I think its laughable however the for the same price 130hp is crap.
hahah thats literally 175 Kia Rios! I just think they missed a trick by making it slower and heavier. It's a subcompact and whilst the lower end torque is good for making way from a trafficlight, being able to overtake something safely at 50mph is also pretty important. I love the Rio but It's just a bit of a missed opportunity to buzz things up a bit. I guess you'd go for the Forte SX Turbo for that anyway.
Benjamin Francis or engine swap a optima or Cerato engine.. Even failing that.. there is always their sports model. The twister or whatever they call it. Make the Rio a speedy beats.

Eric Silva brand new price.?
This is the first video and first "vlogger" to show the car underneath - which honestly is technically awesome.
No crap talking, just right. And fun.
KIA keeps raising the bar and giving its competition a run for their money.
Canadians do appreciate those heated seats. Wish more automakers would make that standard for us.
Autos Fan and cooled seats for us unlucky bastards in Texas lol
They were originally a safety feature
I'm excited about this car. It's gonna be launched in Pakistan soon. For the first time we'll be seeing KIA cars in our country.
they are too expensive for car bombs
Seriously good looking car.
I agree it kind of looks like an Audi A3
Like all kia cars

eflorcas would love the leather interior and heated front and rear seats.

mountainhobo ya i agree with you too. But i dont know why companies dont offer full features on manual transmission.
Yes, the last time I was buying a car with a manual, I could only buy it on a stripper, and I hate them for it because the driver's seat could not even be upgraded. they offer it at all trims

agreed, cant believe a manual e brake is now a feature only some cars are lucky enough to have and no auto stop/start garbage
Yeah I really like that interior.
And in person it looks much better
Even though it is a Korean car brand, it still hasn't been released in Korea. I want to buy it right away.
I love my 2017 Kia Rio with a 6 speed manual transmission. I am getting 37 mpg average. I paid $11,300 new.

VoltecRules send me the dialer information please
WHAT? 11,300?! that's a freaking steal!

the previous 1.6, was a notorious exploder. We had a '12 tank on us, 100miles outside of warranty. I wish the next generation much better reliability.
I'm definitely sold.
Anykinds Matthew thold.
Bold
Great review. Very informative and nice looking car. You look like Wil Wheaton (actor) :-))
Great video, however it would be nice to know exactly which model you are reviewing. Does anyone know?
Wow, if I could afford it, I would totally make this car my first purchase.
I hope you've managed to fulfill your wish😁
How does this compare to the sister vehicle, Hyundai Accent ? which is better?
wish we have this in U.S. it's looking great indeed.
Wish it came in a coupe 😔
Is the Kia lx same as the ex? How is it different ? Why aren’t they the same?
The ex and lx are pretty much the same
It’s very cute. If I had a teenage daughter, would buy.
Will there be an SX model
If it had the 6 speed manual transmission the EX level would be perfect.
Super nice, but the seats don't really fold down properly? What if you took the headrests off? Will it lay flat? If not, I'm buying a Chevy spark even if it's ugly!
Great review.
What are the trims for this 2018 Kia Rio?
Lx Ex and S
the host as a cartoon characters voice
'suffering succotash'
Is all that the standard version ? Like is that what you get when you buy the basic.
Striking red colour though, looks fierce
Good looking Kia this red hatchback reminds me of old gti !
Good job there Kia.
I love my car, South Africa 🥰
I would like to know how to turn on the ECO mode in Kia Rio 2018
I’ve had my Kia Rio for almost 2 Months now. My Plates finally came. No problem having a friend put them on the back. But I go to the front since we are required to have both. What the heck? KIA with German design language!
프라이드 후속모델로 국내에서도 만날 수 있으면 좋겠네요.
3:16 There you see he has no technical knowledge about cars. With small light cars there are always problems with the rear disc brakes. So they made an advantage and use drum brakes again.
Tahkout should be watching this.

From the inside its more audi than kia
Mazda 2 or Rio ?
i.e.m. I have a 2014 Rio and my girlfriend has a 2013 Mazda 2 and u can’t go wrong either way but Rio has a bit more horsepower
I live in Canada, so how many L/100km does this car use?

Is this Available in the US
US version of 2018 Kia Rio is heavily limited in included options and looks way less attractive. th-cam.com/video/n8-pExWP2Ls/w-d-xo.html
I can't decide, between the Kia Rio or the Hyundai Accent...arg, who would have thought buying a cheap 2nd family car would be such a hard choice!
Mahgwa they are basically the same car. Just rebadged..
Most parts will interchange..
Nice looking car
CANADA REPRESENT!
Amazthing.
I’m sold
I didn't buy one because they have a bad habit of catching on fire due to a faulty fuel pump.
plastic interior is better....will look brand new forever since its easy to clean....just dont scratch it
Sami!
People will hate it Because its a kia.
Nice
Great review, love the car, hate the lisp. So distracting.
The car look very hot
My 3days old Kia Rio 2018 FULLY IMPORTED engine defect, flapping sound (they dont know due to what) and key chain sound (due to using RON95, they said the car is designed for RON97) from the engine or gearbox. Damn Daddy.
It's purty
They ripped those daytime running lamps right off the current golf/gti and threw it on their rio. Didn't even try to make them look different.
$15 to 25 grand??
CyndyKated yes, it depends what model you will get. From standard to sports type or top of the line.
Audi style
This guy needs to stick to writing reviews for someone else to verbally day in a video.
I come from cheapest car to here
No bring back the Asian girl
He talks like those guys from South Park when they try to make lisping characters. Cant stand it.
TWITCHCHANN the thing is.. he's not trying.

Kevin Alan it looks like an audi because Peter schryer went from audi to hyundai. Also 20k+ for a fully loaded goes into Mazda 3 territory.
Wtf lol. No.

130hp LOL
ForeignBorn Patriot if you want 500hp buy a corvette
Who said I want 500hp? My car is 170hp and 184tq and I paid 20k with decent features. I think its laughable however the for the same price 130hp is crap.
ForeignBorn Patriot whats your car?
381silent 2016 Jetta sport. Bigger and quicker. This dec will be two years since I bought it. Car is great! The only Kia I'll consider is the optima.
There's a turbo kit available for the Rio/Accent at ups the HP to 170HP, which takes care of that
This is just too slow.
Benjamin Francis if you want speed Bugatti will sell you a Chiron
hahah thats literally 175 Kia Rios! I just think they missed a trick by making it slower and heavier. Sorry I'll take better fuel economy and the power is totally adequate for the size of car
Too noisy inside the cabin. I wouldn't buy it.
Dear Kia and Hyundai, please stop making cars, it's cruel and unusual punishment lol
