My mom said, 40 years ago, watching tv would rot my brain. My wife said,10 years ago, watching TH-cam videos would rot my brain. I'm not a mechanic but I rebuilt my ls engine last month and now rebuilding my trans this month...all Thanks to TH-cam videos by true professionals like this. Thank you Hiram for sharing your time and knowledge.
I was 16 years old the first time i opened up an automatic transmission. I remember thinking that this thing must have been part of whatever crashed at roswell. 30 years later after watching your video , I opened up another one and successfully rebuilt it thanks to you. you are truly a master of your craft
@Maniac50AE I am doing my Honda now and it's basically everything he says but there are a few minor things that he does different than the shop manual which is funny cause now I feel like I can rebuild it better or as good as him.
@@paulhance1984 yeah but it's pretty messed up now. it's a 96 mp1a at prelude. I thought I did it perfect but 3rd and 4th gear must have exploded. it only runs 1st,2nd,reverse now. really disappointing, gotta take it off the car again
I am a complete amateur, not a mechanic never have been. I followed your video step by step and to my amazement the transmission works great. I'm impressed with myself, but far more impressed with you. I've been telling everyone about your video, and I cant thank you enough!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed watching a craftsman perform his craft. This is not just memorization of some service manual..This is the result of many years of experience and work in the trade. Respect.
The automatic transmission really is a marvel of engineering....I would never attempt this sort of work but I really respect anyone like you that can. I just enjoy watching someone who is really skilled at their craft operate.
@@csn6234 Well the 200 4R in my Grand National can handle quite a bit of power and the TH400 can handle as much power as you can throw at it as a performance build.
You, sir are a true professional. You cut no corners, make sure that everything is right, every potential issue is dealt while the unit is on the bench. So many half-ass transmission shops out there that take your money and do as little as possible. Then the thing fails again in short order.
lil dude: I read your comment and about shit myself, your not joking are you???. That's one reason why I Never take my vehicles to anyone for maintenance. How places like AAMCO are still in business are beyond me. Trying to find someone you can trust to work on your vehicle is like finding a needle in a hay stack.
I will tell you this about a year ago the transmission on my 1995 tacoma started making a noise similar to a power steering pump going out only in reverse my gut told me it was spark plugs no fuckin idea why but i did replace all 6 one was seized had to work it in and out to get it to go some threads came out with it (aluminum heads) I slapped anti seize on the new plugs and the noise went away no idea why that happened but all is good a year later
My Dad rebuilt transmissions in his shop that he built over many years in our backyard. He did this after working his regular job all day! He started when he was 14. He only went to 8th grade. It takes years & passion. Now my son is driving & his truck has a 4l60e and its slippin in 1st & wont reverse. Sadly my Dad passed away in January 2022 so we dont have anyone to rebuild it. I hope your video will encourage my son to maybe pick up his Papaws hobby & try to rebuild his transmission. Thank you sir. I know the hard work that goes into rebuilding a transmission. I always wanted my Dad to make a video like this.
He dang sure didn't learn it overnight. It took him years of experience to get where he is! You can learn everything there is about a car (even the engine and differential) but trying to learn how an automatic transmission works is a whole different ball game. It will cause your brain to explode. 🤯
@@kiid1730 he may record himself but trust me he knows his shit. He does it for a living I don't think he goes back and watches his videos during work.
@@kiid1730 I don’t think that’s why he records himself.. he records himself so that other people can watch this and learn and know what to do if they ever had to do this themselves. This man has done this a time or two so I definitely think he knows all of his parts by now and definitely knows exactly what he’s doing.
Hiram, I just wanted to drop a note to say thank you. I've been a auto hobbyist my entire life and have rebuilt every piece of a vehicle except for an automatic transmission, until now. For some reason they were always a little scary to me. Thanks to your detailed video and great verbal explanations, I finished up and drove my first 4l60e rebuild yesterday. I had to stop and rewatch some of your segments to make sure I was doing things correctly, but the entire process went very smoothly. I even installed the transgo kit you detailed in the other video. The trans drives and shifts perfect. Thank you again for all of your time and effort put into making these videos! What a great feeling to successfully rebuild my first automatic transmission.
Well put! Hiram is a rare bird. He’s a good person that is willing to share his knowledge with us. It is a bitch to do a video and he is really good at it. Try it out and you will quickly understand how he not only makes the rebuilding process seem obtainable by a layman, he is great with his video explaining and close ups etc. Hiram is the MAN‼️
I wouldnt really consider rebuilding an automatic trans a DIY project. But it can be done if you have a manual or a really good video like this and lots of patients. And dont think you'll do it in 2-3 hrs, maybe a weekend. Ive rebuilt thousands of automatics in my 30 yrs of auto-tech, and it still takes me around 3 hrs for this model and this is an easier one to rebuild. not including coffee and pee breaks. Definitely something you want to do right the first time around because it really sucks putting it all together and installed to find out something was wrong and needs taken apart again.
Thank you for the motivation this video and your comment definitely made me feel better about my rebuild. Where did you get your rebuild kit, shift kit from?
Sir, absolutely a great video. No BS, straight forward video with great detailed explanation and process with important warnings... really appreciated the hard work and effort put into getting this to the masses. Thanks again!
This man is a master at his profession, if I knew my transmission was handled with this much care and rebuilt with this level of expertise I would not hesitate at all handing over the cash! Thanks for the video I didn't even realize it was over 2 hours long till the end I was so damn intrigued 🤣
I just glad people like you are willing to take the time to make videos like this. It's getting so expensive to have the work done and at least this helps someone who wants to save money and learn how to do the job themselves. It also shows how much work and time goes into it so we understand why the shops charge what they do for job. Thanks for the video.
From one technician to another I appreciate your videos, every now and again I work on a transmission and I will get the service manual but not always will you get the true real world experience that you hear from a tech that has seen it done it, I find my self watching your videos before I start to disassemble it because you have an in depth knowledge of the individual transmission.
Note to Builder: Brother I came up thru the ranks from R&R man....Shop foreman,The Builder..eventually center manager. There are videos here on YT of a "Transmission EXPERT". His expertise seems astounding to some guys,He quotes some things about units. It's ALL RWD, No Front wheel drives. NOTICE NO VIDEOS OF HIM BUILDING ANYTHING Except a THM350,a very simple unit to build, yet they whoop&holler how great he is,Just had to say something,I built transmissions about 35 YEARS,This channel this man builds, not just teardowns,Thank you Brother Transmission BUILDER!.
Take it easy proud person, nobody knows everything…. I think you are an asshole. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks so. You might be a narcissist. You need to look in the mirror and realize that the important things inside of your body especially your brain are the consistency of a raw egg and something can crawl up your ass at anytime and take your ass out. You just had to say something right? No you didn’t. Be nice.
I think I know who you are referring to. All that guy ever seems to do is autopsies, which were interesting, but then I realised I'd never seen him actually put one back together, so I basically learn nothing. I want to know all the tips and tricks about assembling one, and this other guy who shall remain nameless never delivers. I notice that his Comments are turned off now though.
You are a Master my Brother, I dabble in all parts of my cars/trucks but when it comes to transmissions I know that the rebuild is very complicated. Thank you for the insight but I'll leave the trans rebuilds to the pros like you. God Bless.
Hiram... I can't tell you how ecstatic I am about this video. I generally do a lot of my minor mechanical work such as oil changes, battery replacement, alternator, water pumps, serpentine belt, throttle, radiator, brakes and rotors etc.... However just last night I thought pretty soon I may have to do something about my transmission and having a limited income I always have to find the cheapest but most reliable route to get the job done. So I decided to look on TH-cam as I always do and search the internet to see what route I'd take. Lo and behold here you posted a video only days ago that support my future need. I have a 2003 Escalade EXT. I love working on my truck 1. Because I save a lot of money 2. Because I make sure it's done right 3. I have no one to blame or be mad at if it isn't 4 The shop mechanics can't beat me...lol. Anyway as I plan to embark on this journey to my first transmission drop and rebuild (which may take some months, I think I still have a significant amount of time but I'm still planning) I've run into a bit of a roadblock in my preparations. The transmission model is't engraved on the case. So I did some research and I think it's a 4l65e but need to be sure because once I drop that bad boy I won't be able to run back and forth to the auto store without inconveniencing others and I hate to do that. anyway I did find a number on the transmission that helps identify my transmission on the bottom at the end of the pan. The number is 3KZD4 042A 35523509. Also do I need to replace the torque converter and the transfer case, after all I have a bit over 202000 miles. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your skill for those of us that need the help...... If you or anyone else can answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it. Subscribed!
I think this is THEE best video on rebuilding a transmission on TH-cam! Every other video is like 20 minutes long, so I don't even bother. This guy's a PRO, so it's a pleasure to see him work.
Haven't had to make the change yet but I found a young brother thats a few hours away that knows Hiram. I may buy one of his rebuilds.... I would buy Hiram's rebuildbut this guy is close and by that I means a couple maybe 3 hours from where I am. The project would cost me more to do than buying. I may still try though but for now.... not so sure.
I am currently using this video to rebuild my transmission 4l60e. From an 03 escalade 5.3l. even with all the tools that I've had to run and get I'm still under $500 for the whole build. That's with the whole rebuild kit, new sun shell, bushing driver (which btw autozone rents it for free... you just have to buy it and then return it... but I think since I bought it I might just keep it now), transco shift kit and new separator plate, and tools to drop the tranny.
i quit wrenching on vehicles professionally after 13 years, and watching this makes me want to rebuild 60e's part time, it looks like a really enjoyable puzzle
As a DIY mechanic I started working on auto engine rebuilds at around 12 y/o learning from my dad. Years later I bought a used ‘68 Camaro 327 CID that needed an engine rebuild and I decided to also try rebuilding the simple 2 speed powerglide automatic transmission....what an eye-opener!! It took me 5 times as long to rebuild the transmission as the engine, but I did manage to figure it out. Years later I decided to try converting a 3 speed manual Mustang 289 to an automatic, by buying a junkyard Ford C4 transmission, bench rebuilding it and installing it. It was 3x more complex than the powerglide, but it was all mechanical and I managed to figured it out and install it. It was still working perfectly 100,000 miles later when I sold it. Many years later I restored an ‘85 Firebird Trans Am to all mechanical specs despite it having a 700R4 ECM-assisted transmission, which was way over my head. A local tranny shop friend bench rebuilt it for me, removed all the internal electronics and installed a mechanical shift kit which to this day still works perfectly. Now I have a ‘99 Tahoe with the older version 4L60e similar to the one you just rebuilt. Despite a hard 1-2 upshift (from brand new), the tranny is still perfect (only 63,000 miles on it). While I’m too damn old (75) to undertake another transmission rebuild given the incredible complexity of these incredible computerized transmissions, guys like you make old fart DIY mechanics like me wish I was young enough to give it another go. Beautiful job, superb knowledge base, and excellent videography.....I savored every minute! Dr. K.
You are a true Transmission god, and I kneel before your greatness. Thank you for confirming why I would never tackled my own transmission. Amazing video presentation.!
Its been years since i first saw your videos on rebuilding transmissions, as a young shop tech i watched them to gain more knowledge on a system i didn't know, and found your videos very informative. I had my transmission go out recently, 23k miles after a rebuild and here i find myself watching your videos again but this time with the intention of rebuilding it myself. I really appreciate your videos and you sharing the knowledge you have gained along the way. The fact you know so much about your craft and how you share your wealth of information is incredible. I'm sure there are many others who have found your videos as useful as i have, and i just want to thank you for your efforts in putting the time to make all these videos.
It has been a little over 40 years since I rebuilt a transmission, so I watched this to learn about a more modern transmission. The last transmission I worked on was when I put a shift kit in my Cadillac TH400 that I install in my 57 Chevy. Man that was a long time ago. Thanks for the video.

You sir have the attention to detail, knowledge, professionalism and most of all unselfish sense about you. Thank you for sharing it has helped me a ton on my h3 where I have already been screwed over several thousand dollars. thank you.

This is my first GM transmission rebuild. Actually I'm repairing this transmission for my uncle after the last rebuilder left the plug on the B shift solenoid unclipped. Made it 7k miles before burning up the 3/4 clutch pack. Had a serious vibration at about 1,500 miles. We thought it was the rear axle as the truck has 525k miles on it. The rebuilder's health got really bad, so I decided to find the problem and repair it. But it's not terribly different than the Ford's I've been into. I'm at repacking the 3/4 clutch pack after pulling the complete transmission apart and washing out the burnt fluid and clutch disc material. Great video for those of us who dare tackle a transmission rebuild.
Also thanks for being there and for being available for help it definitely means a lot for us technicians that need a little help we're all in it together. I hope to see more videos from you because I don't see you missing anything but being extra careful to explain everything THANKS AGAIN PAUL TAV 👍.
@@blazejohnson7342 Well to be fair it has the most complexity you'll ever find on a car part squished into one small box which is why it looks so terrifying for the mere mortal.
@@dallysinghson5569 If I had the tools I would give it a shot but there's no way in hell my wife would agree to me spending another couple grand on a shot at a possibility her trans could lock up on her if I do it wrong. I have a 2003 TB LT and a lot of time and $$$ invested keeping it on the road. But I like it and have learned more about doing some of the repairs myself than I ever thought possible thanks to videos like this on TH-cam. Well, 268,000 miles on it now and the transmission started clunking and slipping, and soon went out last weekend. I lucked out and found an incredible shop who had it rebuilt and replaced by Thursday. I was wondering what all went into this kind of job and found this. Thanks for an incredible fully detailed step by step process of what they did. So many little steps that make a big difference. I would never attempt, I'd lose track of all the bolts. But seeing what they did, for $2800 which I thought was a bargain, was really interesting. You don't get paid just for what you do, but what you know.
Needing a refresher after 20 years since I worked for a short stint in a transmission shop, and getting ready to tie into a long lost friend the old 4L60E. This gentleman is truely a teacher that deserves alot more than 21k likes, considering almost 4 million views. subscribed and liked!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help Hiram!
you get a standing ovation for this one sir. Great video On a side note; seems most videos TH-cam keeps suggesting would imply employee mindset not an employer mindset. Wonder if I'm the only one??
What a great service you offer to the viewers. I retired from the new car dealership as a service advisor after many years as a line technician. I handled all the transmission repairs for a dual franchise Dodge and Buick dealership. I definitely seen my share of overhauls from rear wheel and front wheel drive cars and trucks. It's a dirty job with a lot of parts cleaning and labor intensive. You have an excellent work ethic and fine presentation of skills.
Wow theres 50,000 parts and this guy knows all of them by name where they go and what they do, how do you remember all these bolts and springs, seals. Man this is just mind boggling how smart this guy is. Sir I take my hat off for you, and now I also know why this repairs cost so much. Thank you so nuch for this video I surely appreciated it.
Hello it's 2023 your video 10 years old your information is still as valuable as the day you made it I'm having problems with my transmission my '08 Chevy 4 speed The parking paws hanging up doesn't allow me to go into gear from park lever shifts with no action seems like it wants to go into gear I go back and forth with the shift back and forth back and forth finally it built enough pressure to pop it free When It goes in to gear the truck drives fine has a lot of mileage on it your video and many others that are out there have been very helpful to me thank you for making these much appreciated Bill Western Mass USA
Every time he left the screen he was getting coffee. When you rebuild one of these you need to consume as much coffee as transmission fluid that is in the transmission.
Mr. Gutierrez, you are an awesome mechanic sir! My transmission is in an '87 Chevy S10 pickup. It's very similar. I've got most of it taken apart now. I can't find the snap ring for the sun gear, but I'm sure it's there. Thank you!
Good video Hiram. I've been professionally rebuilding transmission's for almost 50 year's, and I can do a basic teardown on a 4L60 in about 10 minutes time. You got me interested in doing videos on TH-cam for transmission's. 4L60 is my main cup of tea.
I know what you mean, but I can't afford one. Everywhere I go they want $1350 to rebuild my transmission for my old truck. That's more than it's worth, but I have an attachment to that truck (my Grandpa gave it to me). I'm going to rebuild it myself!
I was looking into this as a viable option to start rebuilding them are self their are to many options and knowledge that I don't have to to make this happen. if your trying to save money how we do it. we buy the rebuild kit for the car or truck then have it benched only. 200-400 depending on the transmission. but the kits can rang from 200-650 this might be a option for you.

Thank you sir very much for taking your time to show me your valuable knowledge im looking foward to rebuilding mine now looks like a hectic situation but having you along the way makes me feel more confident in the project
I just got quoted 2700 for my 2002 Chevy Silverado. I am going to trade it in before it gets much worse. I am noticing sometimes it doesn’t go right into reverse. Make clunking noise when shifting into reverse also. I hear it is the sunshell.
Skilled guy, but with all those old parts laying in that back tray, it would be a real time waster to have to dig through it all looking for an errant circlip or other small part.
That was the first thing I noticed of that pile of bolts and stuff. It appears he can do this with his eyes closed though. For me, I'd be lining everything up in the order it came out or something would get messed up. The amount of parts here is crazy!
This guys knowledge and ability to easily explain things extrodinarily impressive. Without a doubt he is a true professional. Being a shade tree, weekend warrior, non trained mechanic myself I shiver somewhat with the way he lets parts drop on the table or kind of tosses them around. I would certainly put towels between the parts and on the table top to prevent any scratches in any sealing surface since a scratch in critical areas could cause havoc later... All that being said, I have no doubt this guy knows exactly how rough he can be with parts without damage. I am going to look for other videos from this guy for sure.
Thank you so much! I have a 1998 4x4, 2500 with vortex motor 5.7, your presentation will help me figure out my transmission as I haven't had reverse for 1 1/2 years now. presently I'm rebuilding the front end. New rotors, hub bearings, lower ball joints, idler arms all with adj sleeves and pitman arm. My truck is a SILVERADO.
+byrysh I found it especially difficult in the valve body section when he's pointing at things and the audio is explaining a different part of the transmission. I thought it was my computer, but it's the video.
very informative and very thorough.....nice job on parts, bushing removal, and installation as well as breaking it down and putting it back together......thanks again Hiriam are you on the west coast or east coast?
Not that I would ever try to rebuild a Trans But you make it look so easy Love watching you work One of the best Video's I have seen on Utube This is what Utube is all about people like you Great job
Watching him disassemble this, I didn't think he was ever gonna stop pulling stuff outta there. I was waiting for a kitchen sink to magically materialize. I could probably find a way to tear one apart, but getting it back together, now THAT would take a small miracle for me.
Hello Hiram. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I used your video to do a complete rebuild on my 4L60E and it now works really well. I do have a question though on the TCC I was hoping you could help with: It doesn't engage. I tested the solenoids and can hear it clicking in the gearbox when I switch it manually (I wired it directly to a switch to check it). I had the torque converter cut open seals etc replaced. My question is - do you think there is a chance there could be an airlock in the TCC circuit or something else causing the converter to not work as all the mechanics and electrics seem fine? Thanks so much again for the great videos.
Hello Hiram, thanks for the response. The gearbox is in a Cobra I built and there is an aftermarket controller which is pretty rudimentary and doesn't have trouble codes. There is no change in RPM when I engage the clutch and when I change throttle position RPM changes.
Ive watched hundreds if not more videos on many bike and car subjects and this by far is the most thorough and explained ive seen . Thanks for posting your videos and it was a pleasure to watch such a long video because there was no wasted talking and unnecessary bs .
I don't know what you call junk, but compare the mileage your getting out of a electronic, clutch style converter compared to 25-30 years ago and there ain't no comparison. Everything mechanic fails, wears and most important needs to be maintained. Lack of regular maintenance is the most common failure. I rebuilt a 45RFE that had 520,000 miles on the original trans, but the customer always maintained his vehicle like recommended. Now explain to me how a genius like you comes up with a idea of failures???
@@jimcatx3090 well I buy and sell cars I've baught plenty of toyotas with bad transmission in them or motors they had serious problems with truck frames so their like any other car they all have issues.

Excellent video I've rebuilt quite a few 350 and 400 turbos but this was very helpful and informative for me and I would still approach with extreme caution and probably get a little help from a good friend of mine who does these all the time. Actually his Father who passed is the one that taught me how to do transmissions and his son is very very good 👍. THANKS MUCH FOR WALKING THROUGH THE WHOLE DISASSEMBLE AND REASSEMBLE VERY GOOD JOB 👍!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to put this tutorial together. Your patient methodical instruction with good explanation during the build really made the challenge of building my 4l60e obtainable and less intimidating to me. Thanks again!
Great video Hiram. You did show me something that I didn't know about with the TCC PWM valve train by putting the spring in first and flipping the rear valve to make it the same as the transgo 4L60 HD2 valve train. This is something that I will be doing on every 4L60 rebuid from now on. Thank you for a very informative video. Keep them rolling and shift on Hiram.

You're partially correct. Chevrolet automatic transmissions will go down in history as feats of engineering that set humanity back thousands of years.

You, sir are a true professional. You cut no corners, make sure that everything is right, every potential issue is dealt while the unit is on the bench. So many half-ass transmission shops out there that take your money and do as little as possible. Then the thing fails again in short order.

Being in the Auto Parts and Auto machine shop for 60 years. Your expertise is appreciated.
I'm jealous of the knowledge inside this mans head.
He dang sure didn't learn it overnight. It took him years of experience to get where he is! You can learn everything there is about a car (even the engine and differential) but trying to learn how an automatic transmission works is a whole different ball game. It will cause your brain to explode. 🤯
I actually did this myself. It took me two weeks. Seriously... and I still do not have it completely installed and running yet.
True that.. but remember that’s why he records himself.. piece of cake my friend
What a great feeling to successfully rebuild my first automatic transmission.
yeah, it is a complex machine. I think putting it back together seems most intimidating.

I just glad people like you are willing to take the time to make videos like this. It's getting so expensive to have the work done and at least this helps someone who wants to save money and learn how to do the job themselves. It also shows how much work and time goes into it so we understand why the shops charge what they do for job. Thanks for the video.
Dale Higgins your not lying bro prices r getting a little crazy i understand the reason but still doesn’t ease the pain
From one technician to another I appreciate your videos, every now and again I work on a transmission and I will get the service manual but not always will you get the true real world experience that you hear from a tech that has seen it done it, I find my self watching your videos before I start to disassemble it because you have an in depth knowledge of the individual transmission.

I may still try though but for now.... not so sure.
yeah but I still want the experience.
The stamp is on top. You will see it when u drop it.

Automatic transmissions scare the hell out of me.
It has been a little over 40 years since I rebuilt a transmission, so I watched this to learn about a more modern transmission. The last transmission I worked on was when I put a shift kit in my Cadillac TH400 that I install in my 57 Chevy. Man that was a long time ago. Thanks for the video.

Damn, I hate to take mine in now. I can just see dollar bills flying all over the place. You know it's not too bad to pay for a repair, it sucks paying for a poor repair.
Thank you, Thank you for this. I have been able to successfully rebuilt my transmission and now currently working to rebuilding one with performance upgrades. Knowledge is powerful and your video has given me that.
Well guy's used this video to replace the trans on my 06 trailblazer...Just hit 54k miles and all is well...no judgement ment please lol but 5 kids in . We need the ole blazer and all 3 rows and TV's to keep the kids quiet...Videos like this save me thousands on a new tran & I truly appreciate the effort & Time spent...🧘🧘🧘
The video is too long and that’s why it is awesome 👏 a lot of excellent details.... thanks a lot dear .... subscribe and like for sure 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🇯🇴 Saed from Jordan
Did that Scare the Shit out of anyone else?
Yeah no wonder they're crazy expensive to rebuild
I've done a lot of DIY stuff over the years but never been brave enough to attempt that..
well he doesn't mention this.. one wrong mistake is all it takes!!
I drive a stick mostly but I have another vehicle that's automatic transmission I don't rebuild the transmission I just replace them
LOL I'm sure he gets paid $$$ for what he does
@@melraven7105 Transmission guys make bank let me tell you. I know from experience.
Yep I hid behind the sofa and peeped over to watch while trembling :)
@@crumplezone1 you too
This is like watching a heart surgery.
Iwas thinking the same thing
Heart surgery on a dirt road. Talented guy but his bench is a shit show. A trough of parts , nuts bolts etc on the back of the bench is a nice touch
Engine rebuild is a heart surgery. Transmission rebuild is equivalent to a brain surgery.
cat793c2008 you’d hate to see the benches in a mom & pop transmission shop. When you know what you’re doing and you can do it quickly, you don’t need organization.
Brain surgery.
Thank you Hiram, This will be the second Automatic transmission I tackle with your help. If you were local I would bring it to you. I wish you continued success. Thanks again.
Thanks
Thank you sir very much for taking your time to show me your valuable knowledge im looking foward to rebuilding mine now looks like a hectic situation but having you along the way makes me feel more confident in the project
Give my teacher some more coffee. 💖
Now I see why it’s costing me $1,100 to fix my transmission.
$1,100 is actually pretty cheap. Usually they running from $2,500 that's including removal and installation.
@@bryanphan1583 3300 dollars for my 2012 tahoe
I just got quoted 2700 for my 2002 Chevy Silverado. I am going to trade it in before it gets much worse. I am noticing sometimes it doesn’t go right into reverse. Make clunking noise when shifting into reverse also. I hear it is the sunshell.
@@stevesigler5241 it would be way cheaper to rebuild have you seen truck prices?
Change the fluid and filter on your Chevy truck and you won't have to pay thousands of dollars for this nonsense.
AND ALL TIE ROD ENDS
You might want to reupload it in 30min. vids. Audio gets out of sync on long videos like this. Also I would like to see a rebuild on a 94' 4T60E.
+byrysh I found it especially difficult in the valve body section when he's pointing at things and the audio is explaining a different part of the transmission. I thought it was my computer, but it's the video.

very informative and very thorough.....nice job on parts, bushing removal, and installation as well as breaking it down and putting it back together......thanks again Hiriam are you on the west coast or east coast?

help me auto rebuild jaun your my only hope
I do have a question though on the TCC I was hoping you could help with:
It doesn't engage.
There is no change in RPM when I engage the clutch and when I change throttle position RPM changes.
o
Hiram, where are you located?
13:08 - I nearly jumped out of my skin.
Wow. You are impressive. To tear it down like that and know what everything does and where it goes. What a skill to have.
Ive watched hundreds if not more videos on many bike and car subjects and this by far is the most thorough and explained ive seen . Thanks for posting your videos and it was a pleasure to watch such a long video because there was no wasted talking and unnecessary bs .
Seems like Chevy ford dodges all have junk transmissions these days.
Now explain to me how a genius like you comes up with a idea of failures???
ford nut the whole cars are junk after 4 years but a Toyota
@@jimcatx3090 toyotas have their fair share of problems

Wow, like a skilled surgeon well versed in anatomy you expertly dissect each component and describe, in detail, every part’s use, condition, and interrelationships to other parts.
Phewww, I was lost just after the bell housing removal.. Great job! A real professional …!!
Absolutely brilliant! Nothing better than seeing a craftsman do his work with such speed and precision. Man I wish your business was near me.
Thank You my Brother! You helped me rebuild one that I cooked... Couldn't have done it without your knowledge. Many Blessings on you and your family!
Thank you for taking the time to put this tutorial together. Your patient methodical instruction with good explanation during the build really made the challenge of building my 4l60e obtainable and less intimidating to me. Thanks again!
Cheers for taking the time to show us all how to work on transmissions inspires confidence.
Just re-discovered your channel. Didnt realize you and this video helped me with my 4l60e rebuild years ago. Paying my respects.
Thank you very much for your time and patience in putting together these videos. You are much appreciated.
