New generation coal miner here Dewey can really sing listen to this song on the way to the mine everyday great song I go underground not just for my family but to provide light to others we live in the dark under there can’t see our hand in front of our faces we are guided by a little lamp on our head work in all weather conditions pray to god cause everyday we are 6 inches from hell god bless the brothers I work with earned the nickname speedy cause I like to get things done safely and fast

My dad worked as a coal miner for over 25yrs between KY and WV coal mines. I mainly grew up in WV near Matewan, but always had a good life thanks to my dad. He passed away due to covid about 15min before the new year in 2020, doesn't seem like it's been that long, but it has. Regardless of situation, i hope you express you feelings, because this is a great song and anyone from the coal mining community can adapt to.
I remember when I was just little we picked coal from the side of the pit roads that fell off trucks. And put it in a wash tub. In the trunk of daddys nova.

Tell they don't know you can't shoot in the dark cause of words said. Drill the most valuable thing one the hill gets over looked without you not going no where. I hope people realize that no matter what you got you not going to move it without the drill drilling it and it gets blown up.

I would work in a coal bank digging our winter coal at 10 l could not understand those were the happiest days of my life.
