Whoever disliked this beautiful song does not own a soul. I am a 10 year veteren miner and everytime i think about those brave brothers i lost in WVa I cry .... Mr Addair ... This was an awesome tribute.... Thank You
I'm a Coal Miner's Daughter and a Coal Miner's Wife. I am so proud of all our miner's, in my eyes they do the most dangerous job. Just to provide for their families. I live not too far from UBB and that day will rest in our minds forever. RIP
i'm an old coal miner, and I may not know them personally, but we are a brotherhood that the average person just can't understand. God bless my fallen brothers. and their families.
My husband has been a miner for 26 years. I love him very much and could not do without him. The sacrifice that they make to go under ground is so unreal. I can not even imagine. He never complains. I always tell him how much I love him before he leaves cause I don't know that he'll come home. He's a wonderful husband and father. Love you Lucky.
My heart and prayers are still going out to the families that lost loved ones on that heartbreaking day especially that we are back into the holiday season. God will always be with each and everyone of you. THANK YOU for allowing your loved ones to represent this beautiful state as a coal miner
As a coal miner, I hear the roof bolts pop and ping as the top crushes down, but seems to hold. The methane gas builds quickly, if not controlled. There is never a moment as I dig the WV coal, that I worry about the top falling in, or methane explosion to make the deep mines my final resting place. Every day without failure, I pray to God to protect us and bring us back home once again. God's blessings to my fallen brothers and their families.
I am a coal miner an I worked in the mines right beside this mines I'm laid off right now all we want is to be able to work an take care of our family's and to be left alone.

Ryan Simmons, my friend I sincerely hope in the past 11 months something has came up for you and your family. One can only take President Trump at his word that he is going to look after the miners.... Regardless of what folks think of him, I believe him a man of his word.... May God Bless you and yours Ryan, SOON Fyodor, Scotland UK
I may be just a punk Jersey kid who happens to go to WVU...but going to this great university has helped me see just how much people in this state love their coal miners. Thanks and God bless

This day 365 days ago we lost 29 precious souls, the coal mining communittee came together as one. These men will never be forgotten, their memory will live on. My thoughts and prayers are with every family member and cherished friend of these couragous men.
Amazing song! as a fellow miner we all know what the risk are to go into the pits of the earth, not because we want to but to provide for our families. but its the best career in the world no doubt about it! i wouldnt give it up for anything
"Not because we want to" "Best career in the world...I wouldn't give it up for anything." How can the best career in the world to you be something you don't want to do?
I had an interesting thing happen to me several days ago. My friend and I were driving home from Louisville, KY after a long week of recording and engineering our tribute to working class heroes - coal miners - risking their lives to provide our needs. I had the car window wide open to get fresh air. We drove by two massive, coal fueled, electric power plants. The air was great and refreshing. No smell. No cloud of pollution. Thanks coal miners. You are my heroes.
Thank you for this song, I lost my Dad in February, he worked as a strip miner for over 40 years to provide for Mom and me and my brothers, I miss him so much..
Pain is trying to save someone and failing despite you and your teams best efforts and having to write the statements for their family’s to see. Granted the families pain will always be greater, it’s a hurt you don’t want to know unless you’re a first responder or a mine rescue member. We sign up for this to save people so it hurts us all to fail. I speak personally when I say this. May the ones we lost Rest In Peace!
God bless our coal miners, and the families that are behind them every step of the way. RIP to all the miners who have fallen in this town they are our heros... My husband works in the mines and I pray for him everyday, this song just hits home.

I cant even begin to imagine what these familys have went thru and I pray for them still to this day. God Bless

This video is a wonderful tribute to those brave brothers of coal that was lost that day. They will never be forgotten. All of us coalminers need to stick together
Oh I have A comment . I was laid off from the only job I have ever had that I actually enjoyed . The coal mines in southwest Virginia are the safest place in the world . It's A dangerous job do not get me wrong . I only worked for A few years underground but the time I was underground I always felt safe . The only reason that I felt safe was the people . The best people I have ever met in my life . Hardest working , most intelligent , down to earth people you would ever meet . The mines that have been shut down in this area have devastated the economy . They just shut down A whole hospital In Lee county . The effects are on our jobs . Now there are a few large mines still open for NOW . But all of that coal goes to China , to support the steel industry that left the rust belt behind . I worked my butt off to get the best job of my life and then politicians threw it away for Fracking . I mean come on have you even looked into what kind of chemicals they are pumping into our ground water . These people do not care . They make their millions , billions and move to another country leaving us with out any jobs . Were drinking hydrochloric acid ...THEY....... Then say " Well it's good for the environment " ......are you freaking kidding me . Please people reading this spend a few moments of your time and look into fracking They say coal is bad ........it's not the environment they care about it's their buddies bank accounts that change the policies in this country . Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely .....................GodSpeed ...................... ....................The Cracken ................................................................
Hey brother, I just wanted to say I agree with just about everything you said. Our little piece of the Appalachian chain has some of the highest burning btu met coal and we have the best damn men to mine it. I have seen our economy fall to garbage. Families struggling to put food on the table, clothes on their children and even a roof over their own heads. However, blaming hydraulic fracturing and natural gas isn't the answer. Our supply of natural gas has the potential to keep the lights on for generations to come and it does have some environmental implications, but they have began to build waste water facilities to take care of these issues and in turn these waste water facilities create many jobs for incredibly skilled and intelligent workers such as yourself. But there is one thing natural gas can not do, and that is create steel. Our met coal is the only thing that has the potential to rebuild America's failing infrastructure. We posses the key to the American facility, and though our current politicians don't see that, they will very soon. Coal runs in my veins brother. My family has been coal miners for as long as we can trace our geneology. This is why I chose to become a geologist. I am currently at Concord University in the last year of my bachelors. I plan to go to WVU to earn my Ph.D in geology. As a professional geologist I plan to fight for the good working men like yourself and hopefully gain a place as one of the very few republicans in our legislature. I pray that some day I will be able to help our great people break the chains that our back staving government has laid upon us. God bless brother and I pray you find your way back to underground where you and so many like you love to be. If not know that like so many others, I am at your side and ready to fight. God bless our coal miners and God bless you brother.
my daddys the best guy in the world and i love him so much every time i here the truck pullup in the drive im relieved so much becase i know how it fells to have some one pluked out of yur hands so i remember hering on the tv that their was a cavein and all i could thank about was daddy and the moment i saw the head light and him walk in i started cring not becase he came home but becuse i had 1 more daddys home left to say and thats all i realy needed
I support our miners 100% I still pray for the families that have lost someone in the mine explosions it still has a big impact on our state. so just remember when you turn your lights on and when you keep your heat going always thank your miners.
I know what you mean, my dad it the Tail Captain for his mine rescue team and everytime his team is called to an minning accident, we hold our breaths and just pray for everyone. Like you said Your running in while everyone else is running out. Its like the mine rescue logo, So Others May Life.
Hi Josh. This is your cousin from Michigan. Not sure if you know this or not but our cousin Gary Addair which is our uncle Bob’s son was killed in a mining accident several years ago in WVA. Sad day, I don’t think it was this accident though. Terrible that these men are just trying to go to work and earn an honest living to support their families and have to face danger and stare death in the face around every corner. Great song. Very touching for the families of miners. Keep up the good work. I hope you are still pursuing music. You have a beautiful voice.
I'm the gas man on our mine rescue team, and this type of thing is my biggest fear. Mine rescue, while everybody else is running to get out we're running to get back in.
One hell of a song.I worked at big branch today outside as a guard.I wouldnt do their job for no amount of money. Some people are born to it i guess.Coal miners earn their money. When a mine blows its exactly the same as being in the barrel of a gun when it goes off.I hope God offers rest and peace for their families.
@ixXxKIMAxXxi It's true, we were raised to treat each other like family, and when I heard that the mine had exploded, my heart sank. Although I didn't have any family in the mine, some of my buddies did. I live about 20-30 minutes away from where UBB was and it seemed like the whole world was dead. They're dancin' with Jesus now and they will never be forgotten by ANY West Virginia soul.
coal mining doesn't need to stop. my family lived there for 2 years and we saw it 1st hand, it is a way of life i wasn't in the mines but i was a sample man and coal miners are GREAT AND BRAVE MEN and if you don't think so spend a little time in West Virginia. my wife has family and friends there and we pray for everyone in the state because if mining stops it will shut down the state...GOD BLESS THE MINERS AND THERE FAMILIES.......

Does each coal mine have its own theme song? There's a culture here I am trying to understand. Can anyone recommend a good documentary on what kind of life a modern coal miner lives?

Whoever disliked this beautiful song does not own a soul. I am a 10 year veteren miner and everytime i think about those brave brothers i lost in WVa I cry .... Mr Addair ... This was an awesome tribute.... Thank You

Does each coal mine have its own theme song? There's a culture here I am trying to understand. Can anyone recommend a good documentary on what kind of life a modern coal miner lives?
