  • Made a run further south to central Florida and met up with the boys for a few days to chase some monster bass (and surprise pickerel) on Toho and other lakes. Seriously didn't even know there were pickerel in Florida.
    These videos are about a week behind and I'm releasing them on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays so be on the look out for the next video!
    Please let me know in the comments down below what you do with your used (but still good) plastics!

    I put my extra plastics in a separate bag, and when my friends come fishing with me they get to use what's in the bag instead of all my new gear. Haha

    Any of my old soft plastics that i have left over that are still good, I will use as trailers for jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc. I will sometimes keep torn up plastics while wading to use for a tiny patch kit. Thats if you have a tiny pin whole sized leak in your waders, You use a lighter and melt the plastic where its leaking. It won't patch it forever, but it can save the day.

    Save them all. Color specify them all and then melt them down and get molds to make your own home made soft plastics. This way you can mix and make any color you desire. Get glitter or a rattle and add inside the mold if you want. That’s what I do at least. I learned it from a TH-cam video a couple years back and started doing it about a year ago now. It’s served its purpose and saved me some money.

    I keep all my use plastics in a bin and about twice a year I take mend it a glue them back together. I’d say about 75% of them can be reused.

    I just use a palomar knot instead of a snell. Don’t have to worry about it breaking or slipping and keeps your weight inline with your bait/hook. The snell certainly has its place but with heavy cover I trust a palomar and it hasn’t failed me yet. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the great content my man!

    I grew up in Orlando and had NO idea there were pickerel in Toho! They love spinnerbaits here where I live in NY too. As far as used plastics, I usually use them as jig trailers until they’re totally dead, then toss them.

    @newera_tb7294 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I save all of my torn or "used" plastics in a separate Ziploc baggy. Once I get home I'll either modify with glue or just save them for melting and remolding. They also work for color bleeding!! I've taken Chart Zoom fat Alberts, and left a few White Yamamoto Zakos in the same package so they could bleed some Chart into the White Zako, works like a charm!

  • @kyleevans2894
    @kyleevans2894 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve been melting stick baits (similar colors) to repair old/worn baits. Learned it from a David Dudley video not too long ago! Works great, especially for Yamamoto or more expensive plastics. Or like others have said, just cut them down for jig trailers, chunks, etc.

    Hey matt! Sweet vid as per usual, loving this Florida series so far. I keep my soft plastics in plano boxes (i know, waste of time and space but it helps me visualize what i have better). So with my used soft plastics, i put the ones that are usable and full back into the box with the rest of the others, and then I take the ones that are ripped up but still usable (swimbaits missing a head or craws with their bodies blown through from hooksets) cut them down a little and throw them in a big old box of "trailers" to use for jigs and chatterbaits and such. Keep it up homie, and can we get some vids at the ockaquan (im sure i butchered the spelling of that sorry) team sb for lifee

    I bring a Tubberware container and toss my used ones in it throughout the day. Later I seperate them by color because when they're bunched up together they will sometimes take on each other colors. One day I plan on making a mold and melting them down to remold them and reuse them.

    I separate badly used plastics in one bag and barely used plastics in another and with the badly used ones I use it as trailers on jigs, swim jig, and spinner baits and bladed jigs. With the barely used ones I re use as Texas rigs and flipping rigs and so on.

    I just always put them back in the bag, after awhile they will become saturated in the scent again and be as good as new. Only thing I do is if i'm fishing a tournament I try to use the new baits out of the pack before I touch the recycled ones. If they're also rubber plastics that are more on the expensive side, if the tear in the bait is just from the hook, i'll drop some super glue in it and you can get a couple more uses out of it instead of continuously tossing them away.

    I use old senko bags and keep all my plastics in there and keep them in the boat. I call them my trash bags. I keep them for trailers or anything interesting I think will work that I wouldnt normally destroy a bait for. Not to mention when my co anglers need a trailer, I dont have to give them the good stuff ;)

  • @davidzellers3537
    @davidzellers3537 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    SB I have a junk (plastic) box that I put left over plastics in. I also keep a Walmart bag in my boat to put all (no good plastics) in so I can recycle. I also put all my old line in the same bag. I use some of my old plastics for trailers and sometimes I need just one more trench hog and there it is in my junk box. I also dip and die some of my junk box plastics to try different colors.

    I have a separate Plano box I end up with most of my used plastics. Mainly Rodents, Flukes, or Senkos. When I first go out, if I’m trying to figure out plastics I end up reusing them and don’t feel like I’m wasting a new plastic.

    Awesome video my man. Since you travel a lot, you might want to look into a portable refrigerator, it's basically a cooler but you can plug it into your van or run it off of your generator so your not always eating PBnJ. Keep your stuff cold, also maybe a small propane table top grill, they both work awesome when traveling around

    I have bought bait molds. I remelt the plastic in a microwave and shoot it into a mold. The possibilities of what you can do are endless. Also they make almost any bait you can think of into a mold. If youre ever in Minnesota hmu and ill show you what i do and hit up a couple hot spots i know of.

  • @blogz
    @blogz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I meassured the biggest room in my boat and bought watertight boxes for the whole thing. And I split every bag I buy and organize it in said boxes. But me being in norway I get more use out of my jigs than you I think. Drawbacks of my method is that I need to know the name of things to know what I run out of, and plastics sometimes atack each other and ends up as fancycoloured shmoo. In your system is easyer in that an empty bag indicates that your out of one particular bait, and one kind of plastic never comes in contact with another.
