    I just bought these and I’m glad they’re worth it. I had a pretty big accident and was wearing those cheap Amazon knee pads. Of course once I crashed, they moved around exposing my knee...sometimes you learn the hard way.

      That is a huge point that I should have brought up in the video. Even ones that seem secure on your knee can move during falls...which again defeats the point of wearing them. These have stayed put in every wreck. Thanks for commenting!

    Review the Dakine knee pads, I just ordered the mayhem and they’re insanely comfortable and they do their job.

    A black Sharpie marker goes a long way. ;)
    Great review. Looking for a good knee pad for both mountain biking, and tactical running and gunning training.

    I rode with iXS Flow Zip. I find the ability to just zip on and off a bonus

      That zip on and off feature is nice. Do you notice the zipper at all?

    Few years ago I had a pretty bad accident wearing raceface knee pads. The hard shell shifted up when I crash. I ended up with a five inches metal plate and 10 screws holding my knee together now. Have been reluctant to wear anything less then those long downhill knee and shin guard ever since. Wonder how well does these lighter weight pads have improved these days.

      The newer soft shells (like these TLD's) are much better. You would not run into that issue again and you get basically the same level of protection with more comfort.

    Hey mate I have a couple of questions have these got silicone gripers on the knee cap? I have a set of Leatt airflex at the moment and the knee cap grippers are what’s tearing my knee up on the inside,
    And how do these perform in warmer weather in from Australia and it’s often over 40 degrees Celsius in summer I’d obviously avoid riding in that but sometimes there’s not much choice.
    I’m definitely looking for something with a little more protection that the Leatt pads I have at the moment so these have my attention
    Great review as well thank you 🙌

      Not on the knee cap. They do at the top to keep them from sliding down. The do great in the high heat and humidity in GA.

    How do these pair with bib shorts (padded) and Zoic shorts?

      @Bike198  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just fine. I normally wear bib shorts under my MTB shorts.

    These are not bad. However, even if they do protect your knees, the impact protection isn´t good. D30 takes more than a second to become rigid and when you fall all that you have to brace for impact is less than a second so, if you have these, besides paying a premium, you will definetly get black knee caps after a crash

      That's not how these materials work. They harden under stronger force against them and it doesn't take a second, it's as instant as the shock wave. If anything you might get hurt hitting something at a very slow speed and messing your knee up.
