The guitarist is Steve Vai. He is an amazing musician who has written some of the most creative guitar music of the last 40 years. Definitely a one of a kind player!
There was a time when he did a reunion with van halen,, and at that show, he brought out his staff, as he was into his routine he missteps and breaks his nose. It took a moment for him to realize he was dripping blood . He also posed for pla**girl in the 80s. Now he's a farmer.
I saw this tour and it was insane! Steve Vai is a beast on the guitar! David Lee Roth is a master at mixed martial arts, that's why he's able to do all the kicks and splits
I saw this tour also . Richmond ,Va . Cinderella opened up. The 80s were so fun Saw Cliff Burton play his last U.S show also , which was Richmond that year .
FYI: Yankee Rose is referring to The Statue of Liberty 😉 watch David's original videos for "California Girls" and "I'm Just A Gigalo/I Ain't Got Nobody" 👍
The guitarist is Stevie Vai and he played in the movie Crossroads as the Devil’s Guitar player. Good movie. Yankee Rose is about the Statue of Liberty as in the early 80 the statue was going through a restoration period and was covered in scaffolding so shortly when the work was finished Dave came out with this song. Great performer and in my opinion, the best singer for Van Halen!
In the film he played the devil on the soundtrack he played both parts. He helped Ralph Macchio look like he could play but didn't have time to actually train him.
David Lee Roth is a rock legend, and one of the best front men ever. His albums 'Eat 'em and Smile' and 'Skyscraper' are just a ton of fun to listen to, and when he left Van Halen... I actually enjoyed his solo work a bit more than what came next from Van Halen. His single "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" might be another that you all would enjoy. Also... It can't be understated that David Lee Roth left one guitar god in Eddie Van Halen behind only to hook up with another one in Steve Vai. Diamond Dave has had the amazing fortune to work with 2 of the best guitarists of all time! Great reaction as always ladies!
I saw David Lee Roth live in 1988, acting like a fool in a boxing ring and then flying over the audience on a giant surfboard! To say the least, he and his guitarist Steve Vai exhausted the audience throughout the concert. That was a long time ago!😉
@@a.k.1740 - Don't worry, Dave probably doesn't remember that show either... he was plastered in most of his shows. Saw him in '86 and the whole band was guzzling Jack Daniels until they were all stumbling around the stage like total fools.

This is the best reaction ever. The mums' faces were priceless! I knew what was in video and thought buckle up ladies. I so laughed. Love you people more than ever.
Love your Girls reaction. just so you know when Roth left van Halen they didn't think he would find Good musicians. Guitarist Steve Vai & Bill Sheehan Bass are Insane Musicians ( Really GOOD ) we watch this when it came out in 1986 & we went Crazy for it.
I caught this concert when it was at Madison Square Garden in NYC, and it was about as wild as the video. Roth assembled the most talented musicians on the scene and put on a hell of a show.
Many get so drawn into the circus spectacular that is the Yankee Rose video, the lyrics often go unnoticed of how genius they are. Double meanings, metaphors and tongue-in-cheek wit in every line.

David Lee Roth has always been over the top, he pushed boundaries as far as possible. And the reaction of you ladies to this video is very entertaining!
😂😂 I love you guys! That was David Lee Roth when he first left Van Halen to go solo. Created a great band with Steve Vai on guitar, Billy Sheehan on bass 🤘
This was Dave’s band right after Van Halen and he surrounded himself with a super group Steve Vai on guitar Billy Sheehan on bass and Greg Bissonett on drums
Love seeing your reaction. It was the birth of shock rock on video, 80s music television's first artist to maximize the era of MTV. BTW , its a song about the statue of liberty...
David Lee Roth speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and, I think, some Japanese. He is a legitimate martial arts master and a state-licened EMT, besides being a singer. He also plays guitar, harmonica and synthesizer. A well-rounded guy, you might say. Steve Vai is a guitar genius and appeared with Ralph Macchio in the movie CROSSROADS. He also encourages kids to learn music and recognizes talent when he sees it. On TH-cam, check out Ellen Plays Bass... she's a very young girl with extraordinary talents on the bass guitar... Steve brought her on-stage to perform with him in concert! Very cool! And Billy Sheehan... God's gift to bass guitar!!&! That should cover him!!&! Greg Bissonette is a great drummer! Unfortunately, I don't enough about him, though. They've been trying to get David Lee Roth to reform their group, which would be OUTSTANDING!!&!
In spring of 1988, I was one of 8 bass players that made it through 2 rounds of casting calls, (I heard there were originally about 800 tapes & bios of bass players they looked at) and finally got to audition with the DLR band when Billy Sheehan left the band. I got to play Shyboy, Elephant Gun, and Two Fools A Minute with Greg, Steve, Brett and Dave on a soundstage in LA, while the band was preparing to launch the Skyscraper world tour. Everyone was supposed to only play the first two songs, but they all asked me if I could do one more, and asked if I knew how to play Two Fools A Minute, which I knew like the back of my hand. All of the other guys that were at that call that day were convinced I had the gig because of all of them, I was the last one up, and I played every note flawlessly and all the while, ran and moved as if I was in front of 60,000 people. I put on a show, and Steve and Dave immediately interacted with me the entire time. I thought for sure I was gonna get the gig. They wound up giving it to Greg's brother - who sucked on bass at the time, and they couldn't even do any of those songs on the Skyscraper tour cause he couldn't play them. That moment in time still haunts me to this day. It could have changed the course of my life. All these years later, and I still think about what might have happened if I had gotten that gig.
Seen David and this band shortly after this albumn came out in late 86. The bass player Billy Sheenan is from Buffalo my hometown so they launched the tour here.
