  • The Cayce Riverwalk is a beautiful, riverside trail with all the trimmings: boardwalks, bridges, riverine plants, public art, historic markers and more. Come along with me as I check out the Congaree River and explore the pride of Cayce, South Carolina.
    I'm Scott. I explore, review and rate bike trails on this channel...and hopefully find a little joy in the journey. Thanks for watching!

    I always endure your .....er...enjoy your videos! That's one of my favorite trails. Glad to see you gave it 5 stars! Woohoo! And you can never go wrong with Lizards Thicket. Thanks for another 11 minute vacation! I remember the dinner on the grounds, the curved Hardee's roof, and Randy Stonehill haha. But I did not know he was from Cayce.

      Thanks! Yeah, Uncle Rand has been based out of Cayce ever since he married a girl from there several years ago. Wild, huh?

    Great job Scott. We will have to look a bit further end this as we are figuring South Carolina for hopefully in October trip. Thanks for another great idea.

      In the Columbia area you could do the Saluda Riverwalk, the Columbia Canal Trail, and the West Columbia Riverwalk which flows into the Cayce Riverwalk and continues into the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve. That Heritage Preserve trail has tons of American Revolution and Civil War history that you guys would get into. But it also has a really cool bridge that Mrs. Southern E-biking might not want to ride across... 😆

      One caution - IF you're coming to the Greenville area in Oct, there is a very large food/beer/music festival that we put on called Fall for Greenville. It's happening Oct 13-15. It brings around 150,000 people to town. So you may want to avoid that weekend...

      Yes! I have loved Sir Stonehill since my teen years. Humble brag: Got to share a meal with him once when he came to our church. Fun fact: I hosted & produced a Christian rock radio show on a classic rock station in Greenville, SC for 15 years and played a LOT of Randy Stonehill songs!

    Saw on Facebook that you live in Greenville. How do you find time to travel to all these bike trails? I live in Greer. I’m 80 years old but don’t remember the Hardee’s.

      I stay busy on the weekends! Sometimes I’ll try to plan it so that I can do two or three trails in one day. I grew up in Phenix City, Alabama and there was a Hardee’s just like that one across the river in Columbus, Georgia. I’ve always remembered it. 🙂

      Thanks! I have the x3. Love it. It has revolutionized the way I shoot the trails and the looks I can get. But you’re right, it also adds an additional step or 2 in the edit suite. But I love the shooting and editing almost as much as the cycling, so it’s all good…

      @@MrSnakeboy1234 I also have a DJI Pocket 2 and a GoPro Hero 9 that I use every now and then. But most of my videos these days are shot with the Insta360 x3 and an iPhone 14 pro max. I use the 360 for bike footage and the iPhone (usually on cinematic mode) for the more stationary, ground shots and the shots around town.

    Is this wide enough for 2 bikes to pass?

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. I met several cyclists and a lot of walkers and joggers, and we passed with no problem. But it’s not really conducive to bikes riding side-by-side, for example, if you’d like to ride with someone and carry on a conversation.

      @@joyfultrails Is the Cayce RiverWalk connected to the other 2 trails🚴‍♂️😎

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@billysbikesbrews7183 yes. The Cayce Riverwalk and West Columbia Riverwalk are really the same trail - one runs right into the other. I guess they just have two different names because of the two communities wanting to claim credit. Ha ha. On the southern end of the Cayce Riverwalk, you have to go a little bit through a neighborhood on actual streets, and then it picks back up again, and turns into the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve. The heritage preserve has a lot of twists and turns and kind of goes around in circles sort of… So it would be hard to give you a figure on exactly what the mileage would be. But there’s a lot of history there - a lot of Civil War and American revolution history. You can still see where the guys would dig out ruts in the ground to lay in and do the fighting. They’re still there. It’s pretty cool.
