I know, but they way he controls the car with such elegance is breathtaking. Back in 2014 when I got my driver's license and the E46 320d, I remember that I was scared to even gently accelerate in the corners when it was snowy.
I have a bmw e30 and e46 so its always fun to watch them in action when I am not driving myself. Welded the diff on the e46 and its been a blast learning to drift this year.
This is amazing man keep it up, I love how it felt like we learned WITH you, taking the one corner at the end was perfect! I aspire to be as good at filming pov one day 😅
Dont listen to all the people which say to get a welded. If its ur daily, get a lsd from blackline or better mfactory plated lsd. Nothing worse then driving with dead bushing in the rear and have to deal with chattering, wheel hop or changing tires all the time
What are you talking about bro. Youre saying to buy lsd thats atleast 600 euros instead of changing your bushes? Maybe fix your goddamn car? Been daily driving for six years with a welded diff, poly bushes - best times.
Yeah with an open diff it is nearly impossible to maintain a consistent drift especially at higher speeds. I used to own a 320i 2.2l E46 for 6 years in Finland. And like on snow the open diff is fine as long as you have a slow speed and give it a lot of gas. Then it can slide even when the diff is putting nearly all the power on one wheel. I changed cars to a Toyota GT86, you know the car they make with subaru and toyota badges. Has a 2.0L Subaru boxer making a bit over 200hp. Really good weight distribution, handles like a dream. But most importantly it has an LSD, which makes it very driftable even on dry summer roads. But especially on snow it's just so predictable and stable to slide.
I done this for the first time the other day in the uk the most fun time ever at least near me 2/3 gear i was just spinning even going stright lol love the vid
I am not an expert but I think this changing road condition (snow and then some clear patches) in combination with open diff is actually the least optimal condition to learn :D
How beautiful it is! But I am so afraid now since I had the accident. I did a drift in a curve, flipped over once, then landed back on my wheels. Now, every time I try to do it again, I feel like I'm going to flip over again.
Get a racing diff kit , costs around 250 euro i believe . After install u have 25% lock in a standard diff ( i upgraded to a 3.14 also and it drives 100% better
I just bought the racingdiffs LSD conversion set for my e46. Haven't installed it yet. I don't expect too much from a 316iT wiht that lsd contraption, but I guess it should be enough for some fun in the snow. Pozdrav z druge strani Pohorja :D
@@wheels808had a welded on several dailys. I mean it helps with grip but also breaks easier loose then stock diffs. If you're not experienced with daily driving welded diffs and driving fast in rain with them... Would it be better to leave it Stock or get a lsd. Anyways i switched to lsd because the subframe chattering and wheel hop was annoying. Also destroyed all bushings in 2 months and Cracked the subframe
as you can see the car is unpredictable this is due to the lack of a welded diff, I saw a comment that you don't want to weld the diff so I recommend buying a welded one or a second one and weld it, my winter warrior only has wide rims, a welded diff and for a 1.8l it does the job perfectly. btw great video, what gopro are you using?
@@Roku335I I’d rather pick up a cheap, compact beater for this kind of thing than weld the diff on my 330ci 🤣. I can’t risk sending this one into a ditch!
It’s not a problem really, that’s just how these engines are now. It consumes about 1 liter every 4,000 km under normal daily driving conditions, but the rate can increase if I’m pushing it harder.
@@jakubrukl6299 This is normal haha. That applies to a lot of cars, not just the E46. Some are better, some are worse, but in the E46, I didn’t even notice it until I consciously decided to see where the steering wheel is in relation to the seat.
you need to start in the second gear, keep rpm above 4k and take steps on the gas with a distance of about 2 seconds, do that for 2-4 times and then go hard for the rpm to go into the drift and keep the rpm above 4,5k then it should work without problems. you can also try to use the clutch by releasing it quickly while pushing rpm upwards
