Upgraded both low beams and high beam bulbs on 5th gen for around $300. Pattern on low about equal to demo but on high possibly better hmmm. I considered these and read some reviews and saw too much buyers remorse. For that $$$ they should be next-level x 10. Not just next level.

I run Auxbeam (low) and Lasfit (high) LED bulbs in my 19 pro. Would love to see these compared to the performance of those instead of the stock halogen bulbs as shown in this video. Not hard to beat halogen but the ones I’m running would be a different story. I think I’d drop the $1100 in a heartbeat if I could get a better look AND better performance than my current setup. Just something to think about making a video for if you guys are confident with the performance these offer
Morimoto MLEDs retro’d in OEM housings. Much cheaper and way better performance. The XB’s are great for someone that just wants a “drop in” housing. But a projector swap is the best.
What’s up everyone! A little advice. I bought these lights for my 2018 4Runner limited. I must say these bad boys made my truck look 20x better. I got tons of compliments, guys would always ask me where did I get them, or what year was my truck? I mean I was very pleased with my purchase. Until.....6 months after the install....one of the leds in my passenger side drl strip started glitching or flashing, I’m not sure of the correct terminology but...I blew it off...no biggy, right? Wrong! After that, in my drivers side drl, TWO of the leds went out completely! So instead of having that beautiful smooth white drl line you see up in the video...now I have gaps in mine. I didn’t even have them in for a whole year! I must say this though, I got mine from headlight revolution, and the people there were very willing to resolve my problem, especially since they were still under warranty. Headlight revolution customer service is top notch. Like everything in this world, nothing is PERFECT...leds do fail! Still trying to decide what to replace my morimotos with in the spring.
The way I see it: you could buy rigid driving lights(legal for on road use) get more light, and much easier install - all for about half the price. Spend the rest on some ditch lights and you would be good to go.
You could also just spend $250 and do a proper HID retrofit which is going to perform better anyways. Didn't mention that as one of the options in the beginning of the video.
I’d wish I could find a comparison of these vs just HID’s in the stock housings. I know these will have a better cut off, but what about distance and brightness?

Just so you know, the supernova V4 led bulbs are absolutely not the best choice of led lights to put in the factory 4runner projector housings. Go to drzoffroad.com and read their description for their 4runner low beam led, it explains why no 2-sided, flat led bulb works well inside the projector housing for the 4runner because you insert the light at a 90 degree angle to the projector lens and therefore the flat head of the led blocks light between the back reflectors and front lens of the projector
Just modify the wiring. Wire it for sequential turn signals. Then use the other “selector harness” as this guy likes to call it, to wire up to your DRL. There’s more details to it though, like wiring a relay to shut off the DRL when using the turn signal, but any competent mechanic should be able to help you out
It's definitely a chunk of money, They really do a lot for the front of the 4Runner in terms of style and performance. Some people can justify it while others can't. I have them on my '18 F-150 and LOVE them! Thanks for watching. -Chris W

With these after market headlights, what happens when one of the bulbs burns out? Do you have to buy the whole headlight unit again? Or are the bulbs replaceable?
They have a 10 year warranty, so you just follow the RMA steps and we send you a new one so long as everything check out ok with the testing of the faulty housing.
It’s a shame that nobody supports the 2010-2013 5th gen 4 runners. It as if they have never existed. It’s like having a computer that’s no longer supported by any new software. It’s just ridiculous!🤷🏾♂️
We feel your pain!! The older vehicles always get left in the dust. Luckily Morimoto is coming out with new headlight housings all the time and maybe yours is in the pipeline... would have to ask them!
We haven't done much testing with tail lights for the 4Runners yet. However, Morimoto just sent us some info on tail lights that they are working on! We don't know when they will be completed yet, but they are working on it!
Does everyone’s do this?? I can use DRL like you have in your video, where it is just the light strip and no lights, when I turn on the lights manually. When I use the auto lights function, the DRL and low beams are on even on a sunny day. Why, what am I missing?
Hey I just installed mine last night on my 2020 TRD pro. I got the gen 2. I didn’t think anything of it until this morning since it was dark when I finished installing it. This morning I am able to turn the DRL off, but when switching it back to auto, I see the DRL come on then about 30 seconds later the low beams come on. It was already bright out at 8am but was going through some shady trees. I haven’t tried on a bright sunny afternoon yet. What did you do to fix it.
JB Galutera They said there was nothing they could do, it was normal. I think they said the low beams are he DRL, but to me they are different. I have been doing it manually ever since. It really sucks. Maybe the manufacturer will know better.
Sorry for not scrolling through all comments to find this answer but in the 4runner you are able to turn off your DRL. Doing this with these lights will the DRL function the same as stock? As in will they turn off if i want them off.
What's the throw on these like? Isn't the shortcoming on LEDs that they're super-bright in front of the car, but that they don't really throw light very far? IIRC, halogens have traditionally given you more visibility farther in front of the car
These were significantly better than the halogen lights the 4Runner came with in terms of brightness and distance. We did an install video on one along with some night time driving and it was a big improvement.

Sorry to disappoint but they have sold out 3 times already. When you realize these are the best of the best the price all of a sudden seems reasonable! To be honest it's even on par with every other LED projector headlight assembly on the market.

Please i have an important question over the lifetime of those bulbs, yes i know the headlights are under warranty for 5 years. what if the bulb went bad or need to change it to Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 bulbs. how to do that, and if we can which i don't know how because the headlight seems sealed for all bulbs, low beam, high beam. what's your input on that, please.
Realistically the majority of your time driving a 4Runner (or a Jeep, Tacoma, FJ, etc...) is on public roadways so it would make sense that these are designed for those scenarios. If you are taking your truck offroad you should consider some extra lighting anyway.
We may have that comparison in the future! Nothing right now but I can tell you that they will get you a lot more usable light output, and come with a much better warranty of 5-years instead of Alpharex with their 2-year warranty!
I have a 2003 toyota 4runner with reflector headlight housings. Is there an aftermarket projector housing for my year of 4runner like you have shown in this video?
They are super easy to install, as they mount up to the factory mounting points, and will be plug and play with all of the factory wiring on that vehicle! Any chance you can confirm that they are in fact DOT approved and street legal? @Watch Ryan if they were around $800, I'd be interested. At that price, I'm leaning towards giving the Auxbeam LEDs a shot. They seem to be pretty bright, and look to have a good cutoff with both the low and high beams.
you convinced me and i did buy the headlights and the fog lights too. but im not happy at all even i took it to Toyota dealership to install so i have a professional installation plus not going to void the warranty and to make sure if anything happens i can go back to them. but they did good job now after i drove it back home it was dark already. first thing i noticed that the low beam is really low kinda bought it to light the street 10 feet away from me yes but not in front of me, what is the right distance and the height it supposed to be at? now the signal light, you said its plug and play, i don't think so, i guess i need to buy or need to have that thing to make the signal sequence steady what i hear from the signal light from inside a fast then slow pattern not steady, went outside and put the 4way, i can see, the light go fast then slow down then fast. man i like you guys but you disappointed me. i don't know why you didn't address these issues before so we can be aware of this.
Hey David, sorry to hear your experience hasn't been as smooth as it's supposed to be. The headlights should be aimed pretty well out of the box and you shouldn't have to aim them, but of course it's possible. If you want to know how to aim your headlights I would recommend you follow the directions found here: www.jwspeaker.com/blog/how-to-aim-headlights-driving-beam-or-high-beam-headlights/ Secondly, as far as the turn signal goes, I'm really not sure what you are saying is the problem here. To make them sequential or not is very simple so you can't really mess that up. Are you saying that sometimes they blink correctly and sometimes they don't? Neither of these issues are things that we've heard of happening and we've been selling this product line for quite some time. Chris Austria thank you for your input. But I don’t see how come I buy a whole assembly ready for plug and play and ending up adding a resistor. I don’t think so this is not right. Plus in the video clearly there is no evidence or mentioning anything about a resistor.
David Raie no I agree with you 100%. I purchased them as well (currently backordered until Jan 2020). I have been reading on the 4Runner forums and other videos that for some model years they are plug and play and others they are not and require a resistor because the fuse box was changed (from what I’ve read). I do believe in the 2020 models you will need to get a resistor. There’s a guy who installed them and had a similar issue you had on his 2020 TRD Pro. I have a 2019 and am hoping it’s plug and play. If you post a video on the inside turn signal and outside signal maybe someone can post feedback. Good luck on the fix.

We don't make these or choose the priccing, but we definitely don't agree with you anyway - worth every penny especially when considering similar alternatives that cost the same but don't perform as nice and don't look as nice. When you see it with the correct perspective you'll realize that these are actually a good deal.
It could be, but when you have the rig out at night and can't see that deer in the road because your headlights aren't the best there goes the expensive parts you balled out on!
That's not what everyone else is saying... These things are selling like crazy. They are on par with the pricing of all other full LED headlights but with better performance and style. In that case we call them a good deal!

We've covered HID retrofits in many other videos. They're a good option but these far surpass them in most departments.

With your 4Runner everything needed will come with them as they are! You'll get the headlights and wiring harness for the DRL!

My new 2023 orp (1 weeks old) has white led as stock. How much of an upgrade (if any) is this? I don’t see any halogen on my headlights?
It is possible your new headlights are OEM LED, so you would just need the optional OEM LED adapter for this upgrade.

Did they ever measure the lux of these headlights? Trying to compare the v2 to the v1 but cannot seem to find a lux measurement for the v1's

Please i have an important question over the lifetime of those bulbs, yes i know the headlights are under warranty for 5 years. what if the bulb went bad or need to change it to Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 bulbs. how to do that, and if we can which i don't know how because the headlight seems sealed for all bulbs, low beam, high beam. what's your input on that, please.
These headlights are completely sealed with no bulbs to replace or change. If one fails, You get a new headlight assembly.

You’ll want to adjust them for the perfect beam pattern. They are usually reasonably close out of the box.

These fit the 2020. Same headlights from 2014 to present.

Yes, the 14-23 4Runner Morimoto XB LED headlights do have a start-up sequence.
LED high beam seems less wide than halogen
In person it's quite impressive. The original halogen high beam was tough to beat though...

Realistically the majority of your time driving a 4Runner (or a Jeep, Tacoma, FJ, etc...) is on public roadways so it would make sense that these are designed for those scenarios. If you are taking your truck offroad you should consider some extra lighting anyway.
Can you compare this headlight with the Alpharex?
We may have that comparison in the future! Nothing right now but I can tell you that they will get you a lot more usable light output, and come with a much better warranty of 5-years instead of Alpharex with their 2-year warranty!
I want to know which one is brighter and Alpharex has different versions. What about the alpharex pro?
do you have the module that goes to the highbeam for the DRL when you put a HID kit? the one that helps with the deaming of it!
These will work with most of those DRLs, on the Canadian models you may have to turn off thoes DRLs. Let us know if you need any more help!
I have a 2003 toyota 4runner with reflector headlight housings. Is there an aftermarket projector housing for my year of 4runner like you have shown in this video?
Morimoto doesn’t currently make one, A projector retrofit might be your best bet for headlights like that.

The Morimoto MLED 2.0 is the best LED projector on the market right now when it comes to retrofitting.

They are super easy to install, as they mount up to the factory mounting points, and will be plug and play with all of the factory wiring on that vehicle! @Watch Ryan if they were around $800, I'd be interested. At that price, I'm leaning towards giving the Auxbeam LEDs a shot. They seem to be pretty bright, and look to have a good cutoff with both the low and high beams.

My whole MLED retrofit is costing me less that 800 bucks, no way in hell I'd pay 1150

you convinced me and i did buy the headlights and the fog lights too. but im not happy at all even i took it to Toyota dealership to install so i have a professional installation plus not going to void the warranty and to make sure if anything happens i can go back to them. but they did good job now after i drove it back home it was dark already. first thing i noticed that the low beam is really low kinda bought it to light the street 10 feet away from me yes but not in front of me, what is the right distance and the height it supposed to be at?
now the signal light, you said its plug and play, i don't think so, i guess i need to buy or need to have that thing to make the signal sequence steady what i hear from the signal light from inside a fast then slow pattern not steady, went outside and put the 4way, i can see, the light go fast then slow down then fast.
man i like you guys but you disappointed me. i don't know why you didn't address these issues before so we can be aware of this.
Hey David, sorry to hear your experience hasn't been as smooth as it's supposed to be. The headlights should be aimed pretty well out of the box and you shouldn't have to aim them, but of course it's possible. Secondly, as far as the turn signal goes, I'm really not sure what you are saying is the problem here. To make them sequential or not is very simple so you can't really mess that up. Are you saying that sometimes they blink correctly and sometimes they don't? Neither of these issues are things that we've heard of happening and we've been selling this product line for quite some time. It's hard to offer customer service via TH-cam because we have scheduled times of day to get on here and respond so you might be left waiting. Can you please call in or email us to get better service? There is no reason you should be left unhappy with these headlights, something is definitely not right and I'm confident we can get you squared away.

David Raie are you having issues with hyper blinking/flashing? What year is your model? You may need to install a resistor.
Chris Austria thank you for your input. But I don’t see how come I buy a whole assembly ready for plug and play and ending up adding a resistor. I don’t think so this is not right. Plus in the video clearly there is no evidence or mentioning anything about a resistor.
David Raie no I agree with you 100%. I purchased them as well (currently backordered until Jan 2020). I have been reading on the 4Runner forums and other videos that for some model years they are plug and play and others they are not and require a resistor because the fuse box was changed (from what I’ve read). I do believe in the 2020 models you will need to get a resistor. There’s a guy who installed them and had a similar issue you had on his 2020 TRD Pro. I have a 2019 and am hoping it’s plug and play. If you post a video on the inside turn signal and outside signal maybe someone can post feedback. Good luck on the fix.

I really don't know how Toyota can get away with the crappy lights they use in the 4 runner I mean talk about just unsafe for nighttime driving and for over 50 grand even smh ..

We don't make these or choose the priccing, but we definitely don't agree with you anyway - worth every penny especially when considering similar alternatives that cost the same but don't perform as nice and don't look as nice. When you see it with the correct perspective you'll realize that these are actually a good deal.
