Yeah, they couldn't have picked a better model for Edward when the t9 looks close than the basis he is given and dint even bother making a stirling single for the hornby emily
Great review! Though the tooling needs a LONG overdue redo (it is 21 years old, after all), it still looks a lot like Thomas. Also, the more I look at that layout, the more me thinks you’ll make a Down The Mine remake/adaptation.
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho I meant the Majority of them, bachmann really does not know how to make faces, i mean, they do, but for the most time, they're just that
If you still need help with the wires I can KIIIINDA help?? 😅 I found myself having to give Lady a new motor and had to teach myself how to solder, I found a few good videos of you need my dude!!
Banger video! I am very glad you showed where lubrication goes on these models, over the years I have repaired many of these Thomas engines (plus many of the other characters) and usually its due to no maintenance whatsoever or motor burnout! But quite honestly other then the face, the model is not bad apperance wise.
Thank you so much my homie!! :) I feel so silly for never mentioning it before- I went through so many Bachmann engines before learning it was the easiest thing in the world to keep them going, you’re a step ahead my dude 💪😅
Back when I was younger, (and a bit of a dumbass), I had a Bachmann Thomas set I got for Christmas years ago. Less than a year after getting it, it broke. I don’t remember why it broke, maybe it burnt out or me treating it like a normal wooden Thomas pushed it past its limits. It collected dust for a while but then a few years after, I decided to make it look “better”. Spoiler alert, it sucked. I pretty much gutted the train of all its mechanics and ruined it even more to make it free wheel. So not only was it broken, the eye mechanism was ripped out, the face was pretty battered, and the paint ruined on both the running board and body. Recently I decided to try it again and this video definitely helped me fix him by getting new faces and eyes plus spray paint and paint pens. Now it looks even better thanks to your advice TrainBoy. Thank you very much for helping me save my VERY expensive Bachmann Thomas a tiny bit.
I always thought the Bachmann face always looked off. Mainly the eyes in size. The model itself is still good, but if I was to ever get one, I'd also get a Hornby Thomas so I can switch the faces.
@@ItsTrainBoyI did! I managed to find a classic Lionel Thomas for like 40 bucks. It's kind of absurd that the new bachmanns cost almost twice that. Have a good one
People rag on Bachmann’s face sculpts, but honestly, after the first three (Thomas, Percy, James)- and excluding Henry, Gordon, Bill and Ben- they’re usually really good. Edward, Toby, Emily, Spencer, Salty, Mavis, and especially the CGI-era models (Diesel, Paxton, Daisy, Ryan, etc) look very quite accurate. And despite my qualms with the Henry and Gordon faces, they’re closer to being prop-accurate than Percy’s face. *Shudders*
I have one of these that I remember buying for 70 bucks(au) back around 2005-07, and now the exact same almost identical model is now 195 DOLLARS Anyways, that Thomas model literally and metaphorically burnt me out on model trains for a solid 10 years, then I fixed him up again and even did some mods(mostly fixing how awful he is to pull apart, adding heavy metal, disconnecting the eyes and aesthetically improving the footplate to ~series 1 style) Oh yeah your paint complaint, the original bodies were moulded into the main colour, but later ones(I got a replacement shell because lining) was blue paint on black plastic
getting this for xmas this year, and even though he's inaccurate in some department, i love him. probally gonna swap the face for a hornby thomas' face, and might colour in the blank spac between the boiler and tank.
I like the Bachmann model's proportions better than Hornby's, tho they both have their own sets of issues. If anything I'd probably harvest the Bachmann chassis for a Resin printed shell Side note: PCB stands for Printed Circuit Board, ya didn't need all those corrections boss
I really don't like the faces they gave Thomas, Percy and James. I wish Bachmann updated their faces when the CGI series came out. Other than the face and the lamps the Bachmann Thomas is a good model.
I honestly prefer Bachmann over Hornby
For aesthetic and tv accurate models, bachmann. For reliable and real life version is hornby.
Edward and Emily were did dirty
Yeah, they couldn't have picked a better model for Edward when the t9 looks close than the basis he is given and dint even bother making a stirling single for the hornby emily
Bachmann.
it’s hard to pick cuz Hornby models are good, but Emily and Edward were done horrible.
It was definitely good for its time, but Bachmann really needs to do a 2.0, it’s been over 20 years with almost no changes💀
Agreed!
One improvement they could make is all of them, not just the UK ones, being DCC Ready!
@@bladeobrian2144definitely, especially for the price
If they do make a new one it’s probably going to have a CGI Styled face
@@tre-engines I’d honestly be fine with that if it was at least accurate to CGI.
It would look better than this abomination of a face.
@@tre-enginesand what's the old face styled like? Toy like?
This is the little guy who started it all for many of us. These models will always have a special place in my heart! 💙
Im so happy trainboy posted again❤️ , and i say i love Bachmann very much!

And shooot.. I won’t say too much JUST yet but you’re definitely on the right track 👀 (Moreso than Thomas ends up haha!)
@@ItsTrainBoy Lucky guess, I suppose!
Can’t say mine is a 2002, but I can’t wait to customize the one I bought recently!
My bachmann Henry is a 2005 and my Oliver is 2016 but for bachmann Henry's running board has a bit of paint chipping lol
Hornby has the realism while bachmann is very good and practical
fire video trainboy, take a break if you want because your rolling a lot more videos now
This was a good review I really like the new Thomas
I'm really late but the King has Posted y'all, GET UP🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Babe wake up train boy just posted
Bachmann is the closest we have to the tv props, but with horrible faces, I'm also the 4th comment at the time im writing this, that's cool
“Horrible faces” Peter Sam, Ryan and Daisy want a word with you
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho I meant the Majority of them, bachmann really does not know how to make faces, i mean, they do, but for the most time, they're just that
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHonchoit’s really only the old faces which are bad the newer ones are getting better.
Whenever i see this model, i always remember the Robot Chicken Thomas parody lol
One of the BEST parodies to this day 🤌😭
Oh god, the memories of me having one, that little bugger is the main reason on how i found your channel dude, the wires broke and i asked for help

The man is back with a bang!
I honestly like the stock standard Bachmann Thomas it just has a charm to it
Awesome video trainboy
Ya know I used to have one of these almost 15 years ago or so now. Hoping I find mine eventually as I remember it being one of my favorites!
Back the classics review missed this type of content
awesome video, helpful too, what lubricant would you recommend for models?
LaBelle is a good brand , you can buy them in a 3 back which Includes 2 bottles of oil, and a tube of grease.
How the fuck am I this early I’m upside down in Australia
The newer stock Thomas models also have the holes for a snowplow attachment on the chassis
I love this model so much.
Happy to see more model RR videos ❤
Ah yes another Trainboy Video to keep my insanity under control. Bachmann are Tv accurate some of the Hornby models are Railway Series Accurate.
I always thought the Bachmann face always looked off. Mainly the eyes in size. The model itself is still good, but if I was to ever get one, I'd also get a Hornby Thomas so I can switch the faces.
Is it in the same diameter?
I actually have a 2002 Thomas I didn’t relies that I had one till I checked while watching
I don't know why but I like the little gap on Thomas s front cab side thing. It's just aesthetically pleasing to me
I used to have one of these as a little kid, it busted, so I got the version with sound. It busted too, and now I’m looking at n scale Thomas
I do have a Bachmann Thomas, but it's the new variant with the altered eyebrows and thicker lamp irons.
Wow, this was kinda a throwback lol. Great review
Thank you so much homie, I hope you enjoyed :)💪

The classic 2002 Bachmann Thomas is such a nice Bachmann model, I really like all the details it has
I love Thomas, look at him, he knows
10:08 Thomas goes down the mine again
There is just something charming about Bachmann’s earlier models from the 2000s that I couldn’t seem to lay my finger on?
Classic ttte thomas, with a face only a mother could love

I like the Hornby Thomas, Henry and Gordon models.
this is the version i have. only one i *still* have to get is edward to have the og steam team of thomas-percy
What do you use for your intro music?
Guarantee most Bachmann Thomas’ have seen hell and back
Can you review Paxton next?

I mean that og Bachman Thomas is like 21 years old but they kind of change the wheel size so I will prefer that Thomas you got
Day 3 of asking train boy to talk about every lay out I didn’t do day 2 because personal stuff happened
I love it
One thing I will say about these bachmann t&f models. . .
They basically never burn out xD
(Lube ur shiz anyway)

My Bachmann Thomas (UK version) is currently being repaired. I think he burnt out.
hot take but the Bachmann Thomas is the most accurate non aftermarket Thomas model
Ah, to be young again
One of my friends died
Bachmann, if you’re see this. Please redo your old model and make him look like he’s from The Great Discovery.
Hi

Am I the only person to notice the fat smokebox saddle on the original?
For Thomas models Bachman is better than Hornby
This tooling is old enough to drink 💀
Hornby: vice
Bachmann: not vice
Lionel: as far from vice as TATMR is from canon
honestly the face sort of ruins it. the body itself is great wish the improved the faces for many of their engines
I had no idea that Bachmann rolled their Thomas out in 2002… that’s more than enough time to fix that awful face and make him DCC-ready, but nooooo…
Wait i have a 2002 lmao
He died tho
Memes
listen man you can't show me the regular bachmann thomas and call it classic
..I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what classic means dawg 💀
Jesus Christ I was born in 2002 that Thomas is just as old as me
