Josh here, just wondering if it's possible to see a Bachmann model of my personal favorite character Hiro. Hiro is a character many are familiar with and I personally would like to see a model of Hiro.
Naw but think about it, if they made the spiteful brakevan a character in my opinion who probably didn't have that much of a reason to be made don't you think they would make atleast stepney or neville?
Spiteful Brakevan was just taking an existing model, repainting it and adding a new face, same with Scruffy, while Stepney and Neville would require new toolings altogether
With pinchy diesel 10 too tall To fit under tunnels Hornby Toby: Too big to fit under tunnels and sheds And yet they have an updated him Even before the range was canceled
Doug Blaine just opened up the possibility of Diesel 10 in the recent Thomas Tuesday stream. It won’t happen right away because of high costs to make the claw.
I think the minority of people know this, but there only making CGI Characters, ones like the Spiteful Brakevan were just obes that slipped through. But maybe they will make big exceptions for ones like BoCo, or as you said Stepney. But that's all you said in this one as well
Honestly, I could see Bachmann making obscure CGI characters like Charlie and Samson, like they are hated characters, but like they said with Rebecca and like you said, they are making CGI Characters
Bachmann is one of the only high-quality Thomas merchandise lines left because Bachmann cares more about Thomas than Mattel does right now. Why do you think that the only new model released for the Wooden Railway line in 2023 was the Day Out With Thomas model? If I were running the Thomas Wooden Railway line, I would have had new models of characters like Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver and Toad released in early 2023 because I know they're what the fans want and what will sell. It makes me wish that another company, like Orbrium were able to acquire the Thomas license from Mattel.
If Mattel just brought back the characters in the AEG series then they could make them in CGI style and they were relevant. But I somehow have a very strange feeling that that would be just something that most would see as a bad thing. If they did that then some AEG hate wouldn’t be justified anymore. That would be a good thing because that would maybe silence some of the toxins in this community.
Well Bachmann has no plans to make AEG models anytime soon, plus I really don’t think Stepney should be in that show given how they make most of the smaller engines children, with the exceptions of Salty and Whiff. I have no interest in watching AEG but I’ve heard a bit about it.
Ah we all dream. Would love me a Scotsman, or updated versions of even the main 8 CGI engines. Smudger would rock too (I'm a sucker for green engines, huh?), but if Mattel's rules are CGI only, we aren't ever getting some cooler engines. Odd that they allow any era of rolling stock though? Look at Toby's branchline coaches, or some of the era specific freight wagons. Overall sad, but a very good video!
@@growlie2676 the big engines (henry, spencer, rebecca, gordon) are already expensive enough, meaning they get even less sales. To produce an engine thats even bigger would not only require loads of expensive new toolings to make the new engine, but would cost even more for the consumer. Only the most dedicated fans would purchase it, given it would likely be $150-$200.
With what’s been said on the recent Thomas Tuesday stream, we might actually get Diesel 10 and Harvey after all. We’ll just have to wait until they’re announced.
The Bachmann man had a good point. Hated doesn't mean not in demand. Also while some are more or less liked all generations should get a good taste of it and ngl., the Bachmann version of Rebecca looks really cool. Though if I'm honest, they should make Stephney too cuz both are pretty neat. Well at least you can still make him yourself by buying the real life model and adding the face onto it.
I just realized once bulgy is released we’ll have all the characters introduced season 3(not counting city of truro and flying Scotsman) this would make season 3 the second series where all of it’s introduced characters were made in bachmann with the first being season 1
This also means that BoCo will be the only character from the first 3 seasons who isn’t in Bachmann, although we know why they won’t make him for the time being, as well as the fact that none of the Magic Railroad characters will be made in Bachmann.
Another reason why Bachmann won't make a Flying Scotsman is because Hornby makes Flying Scotsman models and trix also makes an expensive Flying Scotsman model
I doubt Bachmann would shrink their Standard 4 to HO scale just for a single mid-to-low popularity character, but I wouldn’t complain if they did. Belle could’ve been a decent character, maybe a mainline tank engine, but she was a victim of the Miller era and being tethered to the SSRC and Flynn most of the time she appears.
I have some ideas, if stepney (thomas) can't be made the real life can be and it can be easier so for us to have a thomas version, diesel 10 can't be made because of the arm and claw but, what if the arm was part of the roof instead of on top and the claw was lowered just like the wooden railway version. that might not sound like diesel 10 but toby has a bad bell, holes in his cowcatchers and it is better than no diesel 10.
unrelated to the bachmann debate but just a contructive critisism. Music was too loud on this one compared to your voice, it made understanding some parts a bit tough, other than that awesome video homie
Diesel 10 can be made by modifying a Bachman war ship class if it exists but the standards limit possibilities of practically upgrading a model that was made a decade or more ago so relevance makes sense but Height is the most obvious one and a flying Scotsman model isn't needed as they technically have already a model of the actual engine as all you would need to do is just do some research to have a design for the face that can fit the model then make the face and put it on as it doesn't seem hard besides the price being equivalent to stunning your toe on the metal pole keeping your bed up on the frame but besides that some of these or all of these issues come with quick solutions so people shouldn't be asking Bachman for certain models if they can easily modify a model to their desire and not make Bachman put effort into models of characters that can be made custom or what but new versions of the thomas cast which their models were made years ago can definitely be a upgrade but the models that they have will have to do but hornby made decent models being more realistic to their real life counterparts so some of these issues started without people not seeing the solution to w problem that didnt need to happen so really no models have to be made from those hold characters as they should be asking hornby for stuff like that as they made realistic models as Bachman put in the effort and they did good so noting needs to be solved when the problem really never existed.....
They couldn’t just modify an existing Warship because it’s OO scale. The Thomas range, thanks to its US origins, is in HO scale, which is slightly smaller. If they modified an OO warship, D10 would be even more out of gauge.
Well since we never see Diesel 10 without Pinchy in the show, I doubt they would do that. And besides, it would probably still be tricky to accommodate the roof and to include the claw without affecting the motor.
Pointing to the NMRA standards as the reason why Diesel 10 can't happen is utterly laughable, for multiple reasons. 1. The Bachmann Thomas range is not and has *never* been concerned with the NMRA standards. Why would it be? It's British OO, a scale outside the NMRA's bailiwick. The only standards it's concerned with are toy safety standards and UK model coupling height standards. 2. The NMRA standards are merely the rules of a club anyway (a nationwide club, but still), not legally-binding regulations or anything like that. 3. On top of all that, Pinchy is frankly no more of a clearance hassle than an electric loco's pantograph or - looking at American stuff - the second level of containers on a stacktrain.
Well, Doug debunked the Diesel 10 not happening myth in the recent Thomas Tuesday stream saying Bachmann has gotten away with non NMRA compliant Thomas products in the past.
Doug has said on the recent Thomas Tuesday stream that Bachmann has gotten away with non NMRA compliant Thomas products in the past. In other words, Diesel 10 is still a possibility along with Harvey. It won’t happen right away because of high costs for Diesel 10’s claw and Harvey’s crane.
Never say never my friends, we got freaking Stanley and Duncan! Plus who knows, what if Mattel with chill out with their high standards and just hire good people who will write good stories for the franchise and bring back fan favorites from the model series… like Stepney… 😏
They were made before Mattel owned Thomas and when characters who weren’t in the show at the time were still getting merchandise. Should they really be brought into question about this situation?
It’s a pity that Bachmann can’t make these characters. But if you’re a hardcore railway modeller like myself, you can make customs of them. And as rare as Hornby Stepney or Murdoch are, they are pretty accurate in design.
I was fortunate to get Stepney when he was still being released for £35 second hand, but Murdoch seems to average around £2k on eBay thanks to 3 factors: 1: Only produced for one year before Hornby canned the range 2: Had already been out of the series for 9-10 years, so didn’t sell well 3: Filthy scalpers
@@christophergarland7936 well then again characters such as Daisy, BoCo and Duke were still appearing in merchandise in the 2000s despite not being in the show at the time (with the exception of Daisy having a non-speaking role in Calling All Engines), so I guess it’s not really that far fetched for Hornby to make Murdoch in 2011. No need to worry about making a mistake. It happens.
@@joshuaW5621 You’re not wrong about characters getting merchandise far after their time, I mean CULDEE was still getting merch in 2014, 50 years after his only appearance.
I'm curious what's going to happen with Rebecca and Beau. I'm not saying we should we should boycott these two, but I am curious if their sales are going to hurt because they're expensive large characters that most older fans don't like (I personally have only collected RWS only characters, so don't plan on getting them). Yeah, this is a kids' franchise, but I imagine most of Bachmann's T&F customers are in their 20's and 30's. These models aren't cheap. If their sales do poor, maybe Bachmann does try out a Stepney, and if he does well, become more open to older characters fans want (BoCo, Duke, etc.). @@joshuaW5621 Whoops, don't know why I typed that twice. Basically, I'm not advocating that older fans boycott Rebecca and Beau, unpopular CGI only characters. But I am curious if their sales do poorly, if Bachmann and Mattel would consider older characters, like the much demanded Stepney.

Also what do these characters have to do with this? They were made because they were already in cgi (although in Bill and Ben’s case, absent characters were still getting merchandise at the time they were made). How is Lady different from a character like Daisy or Diesel?
2:51 even thought broadway limited is making a over sized and massive prr s1 locomotive that is more then likely taller then diesel 10
They should’ve brought Stepney back! He might not be as grand as Flying Scotsman, but he is another character that could lead children to learning about real life preserved railways as he is a real life engine from the Bluebell Railway and visited Sodor
I will in the revival era. I promise.
Right, because Toby’s museum coaches, which aren’t even canon mind you, are completely relevant.
Rolling stock is easier to do, especially if it’s pre-existing tooling. That’s why they were able to do the spiteful brake van.
I thought it was just the brake museum coach that wasn't canon. Wasn't Toby pulling a singular museum coach in the episode where he thought he was going to be put in the museum?
I’d say never say never. I think these characters are unlikely, but I don’t think anyone is off the table forever.
My thoughts exactly
Diesel 10 probably will never happen (at least as a ready to run model)
@@greatwestern57 I’m happy to say that Doug on Thomas Tuesday has just proven you wrong. Diesel 10 is still possible.
@@AlTilleyTheBum-pt4mx Amazing! Where can i find this great news?

The problem is the cost to make an operational claw for Diesel 10 and crane for Harvey.
Another reason for scott and Stepney not being made is the licencesing. Both being real engines therefore have real owners that need to grant permission for them to be used

Josh here, just wondering if it's possible to see a Bachmann model of my personal favorite character Hiro. Hiro is a character many are familiar with and I personally would like to see a model of Hiro.
You never know. They could make Hiro in the future.
Hiro will most likely happen if Rebecca sells well.
@@WaterPercyS.C. Ruffey was also made in 2006, way before the show switched to CGI, but that doesn’t change your point.

if someone is buying expensive bachmann thomas models, they prob know alot about the show, and have watched the classic episodes
Shame that Stepney won’t be made for Bachmann. 😔
Yeah but at the same time I understand bachmann making characters the younger audience are more familiar
I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to make Hector at some point.
Scott Is in Cgi, although a side character. How could you have Gordon and Not Scott?
@@growlie2676 the big engines (henry, spencer, rebecca, gordon) are already expensive enough, meaning they get even less sales. To produce an engine thats even bigger would not only require loads of expensive new toolings to make the new engine, but would cost even more for the consumer. Only the most dedicated fans would purchase it, given it would likely be $150-$200.
Why do they keep the HIT entertainment logo despite the fact that Mattel is the owner.
So will Stepney be released even if he’s not in CGI?
Mattel has a rule that CGI Thomas is the current status for Bachmann

They could do that. Diesel 10 is still possible according to Doug Blaine on one Thomas Tuesday stream.

If only they were able to.
Possible that this could age like milk
Possible, but not very likely.
With Diesel 10 and Harvey being a possibility according to the recent Thomas Tuesday stream, it’s already starting to age like milk.
I hope they make Belle! I messaged Doug Blaine live on Thomas Tuesday and my comment was seen
Thomas fans: hate Belle solely due to her water guns.
Also, love Diesel 10 to death despite his hydraulic claw.
If we’re getting Stanley than we have a chance
Stanley’s been in cgi. What chance do we have of non-cgi characters getting made?
There’s a ton of characters that Bachmann hasn’t made that are in the cgi.
unrelated to the bachmann debate but just a contructive critisism.
That’s a crazy thought i like it
Can’t they make Diesel 10 without the claw, and add pinchy in an accessory bag or something?

It’s a pity that Bachmann can’t make these characters. But if you’re a hardcore railway modeller like myself, you can make customs of them. And as rare as Hornby Stepney or Murdoch are, they are pretty accurate in design.
I was fortunate to get Stepney when he was still being released for £35 second hand, but Murdoch seems to average around £2k on eBay thanks to 3 factors:
1: Only produced for one year before Hornby canned the range
2: Had already been out of the series for 9-10 years, so didn’t sell well
3: Filthy scalpers

This recent Thomas Tuesday stream just brought up the possibility. We might get Harvey and Diesel 10 at some point!
I think the next few years are going to be VERY interesting for the HO range.
You repeating we should confuses me a bit. What are you trying to say here?
@@joshuaW5621 Whoops, don't know why I typed that twice.
Basically, I'm not advocating that older fans boycott Rebecca and Beau, unpopular CGI only characters.

All characters (Even the BWBA characters) are to a certain degree relevant. It depends on what era are you from. Unfortunately, some will never be seen. Though in some cases, comissions and 3D are better off and cheeper so maybe it's just not to be...🧐
Old fans want Rebecca? IDK. If they put any effort into their lineup and made early season accurate models, they would absolutely sell more.
season accurate models would be expensive as hell, knowing the economy 😒
I feel like Diesel 10 might have a chance. Idk if Bachmann will do this but I think Diesel 10 Would go great with a Pinchy that can be removed and can also be put on with a tool that help hold it. Also I’m pretty sure what Mattel is saying is just nonsense. Most of the people that buy them are people that have been fans of the show for so long and using characters irrelevant is useless. I’m sure children that grow up with Thomas would have most likely read the books as well which would ALSO make them know a bit about Stepney
