You build a very fine gun, I have two of them (DR9 and MR9L) and I think it's the best of both worlds, if you do not mess with it you get Glock reliability with fine well thought out enhancements and a very fine shooter in your hands. I toyed with the idea of replacing the stock trigger with a Timney trigger, but after speaking with your CS decided against it and am very happy I decided not to. Congratulations on making a great product and having a great CS.
I just recently blew up a new FN509Tactical. Others were shooting beside me at the range and I didn't hear the squib. Next shot pushed the squib out and bulged the barrel just outside the slide, (tactical threaded barrel), and noticed that the slide jammed when it cycled and intercepted the bulge. We compared the lot numbers to a previous squib round that ruined an H&K, and the lot numbers were the same. The ammo manufacturer replaced the ammo and pistol. I've been shooting for a very long time, and this is the first that I have experienced a squib problem. My gun store handled the entire process to my satisfaction. I was fortunate that there were no injuries. I purchased the Shadow XR920 Combat yesterday, and I'm impressed with the engineering and quality that went into it.
Same i have been shooting in the military for a while and never had a squib. That is until i was shooting some Browning 9mm and it seized my slide but it stayed intact almost in the barrel luckily no damage and got it out with a gunsmith
I’ve also thought of this. Thankfully we live in a world where manufactured ammo is usually good as long as the manufacturer is reputable and guns that have been designed to fail in such a way to be as safe as a gun failure can be.
I've seen a hot load kill the owner of the pistol (it was some revolver). Archbald PA (Google if you want). I was consulting for local 0D at the rifle range. Ending our day we walked over to our cars. A guy was selling his handgun to a guy. The buyer was shooting it. It exploded and the sharp metal killed the guy who was selling it. The shooter caught some shrapnel, but the guy who was standing next to him took most I'm vital areas of his body. Didn't even know what was happening until shit went quiet.
Testing Trevor & the team's desire to answer all customer questions (from a four SSC gun owner): Have you tested the Timney Alpha Competition Trigger (Gen 3-4) in any of your 920 model pistols? Don't lie to us and say no. Part two of my question is what tips do you have to ensure it runs optimally? I want to run my DR920 as a competition gun but the stock trigger isn't designed for that use case. I tried Zev Tech. No dice. Something about the geometry of the frame doesn't allow it to work right. Timney tells me they've tested it in SSC guns and it works. But what do the real experts say? Thanks, guys.
@shadowsystemscorp is it possible to get a different slide? i have a dr920 no cutout and no serrations on the top front of slide. am i able to pay to have the serrations done or no?
Use the trigger sometime. It's the only okay thing on an otherwise flawless system. And don't misunderstand me, I love these guns and own three. There are no perfect guns right out of the box, and perfection is subjective by user too.
Unfortunately the issue is too many very inexperienced first time gun owners getting hold of your pistols. I’m surprised that there aren’t more tragedies. BTW, do you actually replace the pistols sent back due to user error???
We addressed this a few weeks back. You can check out the video here: th-cam.com/video/WUKIxouA5lE/w-d-xo.html If you’re having issues and have confirmed that it is not your grip, by testing shooting with one hand, then please email us at support@shadowsystemscorp.com
@@joshnemcosky9647 I shoot with 4 other guys with shadow systems. Two have the issue and 3 don't. Ironically the 3 that don't have the higher round counts. Also I haven't had issues with pmags, only glock mags.
@@Ballistikpapa The gun was designed around the pmag so that's probably why. I haven't had the issue either or know of anyone who has, but I imagine a lot of people who are having that problem are having it because of a grip problem
I've been super sketchy with ammo brands, that I have never heard of, popping up in the last 18 months. With supplies being limited, I wouldn't be surprised if companies are trying to load with a minimum amount of powder because of supply and costs. I'm not sure how far below the powder manufacturer's recommended numbers you have to be in order to induce a squib load. Slides don't normally reciprocate when there's a squib, right? Really sounds like folks need to actually assess a problem when they have them. Definitely a "lack of experience" problem. Be it not knowing what happened and chugging along anyway or thinking they know the problem and used the wrong remedy (tap rack bang).
Taking the slide off is my MR920 nemesis ..... total FUBAR is a gimme if you pull the slide back after dry fire the normal quarter of an inch as the regular kcolG it locks up jams etc .....wiggle, grease, prayer, rubber mallet are no joy. After forcing the slide back my gun runner hammer monkey replaced the trigger assembly after warranty virginity voiding expertise to remove the slide. If the slide is drawn back to take down any more than it takes to depress the take down levers...... the slide will lock up nasty again. Zero after market parts , NIB, "VERY FRUSTRATING" ..... Love my MR920 ELITE ...... a 1000 rounds plus of factory ammo through it . But I delegate it's cleaning's to a sonic bath these days.
I understand the desire to customize your firearm, but for the price you pay for these you’re kinda buying the upgrades. So why go crazy to shoot 5% better?
One time in a smith in Wesson somehow I legit was sent the wrong magazine and it went in fine and the last round didn’t fire and I stopped immediately and it was the magazine that caused the problem and got the round out at home and I’m still good with ammo I bout in 2019 quality ball ammo and still shooting it every week my wife told me I was insane for buying 8000 rounds a one time but it paid off
I honestly feel bad for you guys having to deal with all this dumb shit... Like I can maybe understand the squib loads if you're a quick string of fire but the other stuff is just ridiculous.
I bought one of the MR920 combat I hated the pistol to start with jammed a lot compared to my new Glock 19 gen 5. Then I started treating it like a higher end 1911. Allowing for more breakin time. The pistol is flawless now. The only thing is costumer service did not impress me. I’m sorry I called as about a second magazine I was promised. The rep said would ship. Still waiting, so probably not buying anything else from you. Just a old Marines opinion lmao.
I think you’re saying you’re still waiting on a second mag to ship? Did you submit the form? I’m sorry you’re still waiting! If you could email me your name, mailing address, and serial number I can chase that down for you! Jessica@shadowsystemscorp.com
So you only intend on using the 2 magazines that come with your pistol? I have a few and with different capacities. Magazines are not serialized items.
I think its pretty sad that these guys are laughing and joking about obvious issues with their firearms. Trying to blame it on the ammo and the end user. You would never see Glock cutting up about guns that were sent back, I think quite frankly, they'd be embarrassed. And before you comment on my post, yes I own a Shadow Systems firearm. My Glock is never far away though. I'll leave it at that......
You keep saying “show the gun” yet you can’t see shit haha why not ACTUALLY show us the issues?? Still images or actual up close video, something??? Lol
Great public service announcement!! Ammo QC is challenging when the increase demand is up 700%..
I love you guys. And your video's. Informative video's and no trash talk. Need micro 9mm offering
You need to capitalize on your specialty parts. I'm impressed by the improvements you have made to the weapon system.

Squib load is my worst fear in rapid fire or if it ever happens in a defensive scenario.

I hear you on that.
"We are getting a lot of guns returned that have been blown to pieces." Question: What's 'a lot of guns?' Thanks.
What would you recommend to make the factory trigger a little better? It's a little grittier than I expected from a premium pistol.
Any plans to make a 48 sized gun?
So do you have recommendations for ammo, or are you considering making your own?
Stick with major brands and stay away from Reloaded ammo.
There is no guarantee, just stick with companies with good QC.

Wait does the life time warranty actually covered all of these??? Cause that is impressive warranty and customer service.
😂 Did y’all warranty the 15rd, in the 17 rd, “malfunction”?
I’m just north of 2,000 rounds thru my MR920 with zero issues; sorry to see so many materials failures due to questionable ammo
Good to know… didn’t think a tungsten striker would break the breach face. Would LOTS of dry fire do this, without any mods? I dry fire a LOT…

No. Not from SS. They make the elite for that.
@@siprebcard561 wonder if I could pay and swap mine out. Don't really care about the window cutout. Just want the serrations on top

Wow
Is road rash covered by the warranty????
I need the road rashes slide…as I couldn’t find one in the last year with the optic cut, and would gladly consider buying it…
I have found more crap ammo in the last year or so, than I ever remember… Can’t be too careful at this point
Hk did a squib test. Shot thru the squib. Oh an maintained 2 Mia accuracy. They are the standard that no one sees. My main is an hk.
When will you guys address the mags falling out?

Sooo moral of the story, don't buy cheap ammo and don't upgrade an already great gun and end up damaging it. 😎
When you know you have a good product and you want to show what is the problem🤣👍🏼Enough said
I like how you're trying to fix the negative feedback you should🤫
I love your Product I buy only high quality Ammo 🇺🇸
I could not get my Shadow System to run flawless without using Glock Mags
I understand the desire to customize your firearm, but for the price you pay for these you’re kinda buying the upgrades. So why go crazy to shoot 5% better?
So you’re telling me I can’t mill my combat slide in my actual mill? 😢
Rule of thumb:
Just because a gun is considered a "tool," doesn't mean you should treat it like a wrecking bar.
One time in a smith in Wesson somehow I legit was sent the wrong magazine and it went in fine and the last round didn’t fire and I stopped immediately and it was the magazine that caused the problem and got the round out at home and I’m still good with ammo I bout in 2019 quality ball ammo and still shooting it every week my wife told me I was insane for buying 8000 rounds a one time but it paid off
After the 2nd barrel, the trend I'm seeing is shitty ammo being pushed out during the shortage.
Why did they send the guns back? You guys are going to warranty those guns that were not a manufacturer defect?
No, most of these items were not covered under warranty. However, the customers elected to pay for factory repair.
They have great CS. They might charge something for it though
I honestly feel bad for you guys having to deal with all this dumb shit... Like I can maybe understand the squib loads if you're a quick string of fire but the other stuff is just ridiculous.

Long story short, people are dumb. Mainly the individual who tried to slam a 15 rd mag into a 17 rd frame.
Some people shouldn't own nice things if they are going to lack common sense
