    Wow. Amazing explanation. Helped me figure out why my build wouldn't feed after a dry fire (lower edge of firing pin had a burr causing the rim to be unable to push it out of the way and overcome the plunger friction while sliding up the breach face). Makes so much sense.

    I commented on the last video you posted, about the issue I was having with my mr920 elite. Just wanted to let you know that one of your CS reps called me and helped me get my gun back in action! This is my favorite gun so I'm glad it's back. Just had a sweet range session with it!

    You have impressed the heck out of me, that you would go so deep into theory with your engineering design. I have been impressed with the company the day that Cody told me that your company actually take the time to laser sight the red dot sights that are shipped in your pistols.

    I loved the video. Your explanation was excellent. I really enjoy the technical and mechanical explanations of Glocks design, and your design. I applaud that you throughly and completely explained the reasons why you made a design change. Not many companies are willing to fully disclose their design and their reasonings for design changes publicly. This explanation has me more intrigued to purchase your DR pistol.

    So glad y’all made this series. Just bought an XR920 and noticed this. Had this exact question.
    My next question would be changing the striker spring like so many do for Glocks. Say I bought a Gen4 Johnny Glocks trigger and wanted it in the XR. Most would be wondering if the countering force of the return spring is enough to cause light primer strikes with 4.5 lb striker spring….since those forces are opposing each other. I doubt it would be enough to cause any real change, but it’s something worth asking.
    My XR is a carry pistol so I leave the trigger alone, but I know some ppl that bought a SS pistol as a competition piece.

    I love my MR920 for many reasons including it’s Texas made! I just reduce my carry guns that don’t use anymore and picked up another Elite (without a threaded barrel this time). Carrying while driving 10 hours in appendix carry made me think about having a non thread for long road trips.

    • @fullfire0
      @fullfire0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it was better, then why so many lite primers strike with several different ammunition types in my DR920 which just got sent back for repairs for the lite strikes and countless failures to extract? Never had any lite strikes with any Glock I owned, even with steel case ammunition, just a thought.

    If this is nerdy then please do a lot more nerdy videos! These are amazing. Also I guess this explanation is why the gen 5 firing pin safety is shaped differently?

    • @fullfire0
      @fullfire0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really, they changed the shape to make the trigger pull smoother. It's ramped now which means less force needed to pull the trigger bar over it

  • @anonypersona3189
    @anonypersona3189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if SS also plans on mimicking the Gen 5 firing pin safety's rectangular shape (for more consistent trigger feel). Funny that SS's is rounded and the 5th gen Glock's are rectangular in profile. Kind of ironic it is the opposite scenario here from the firing pin profile!

  • @mitchellrussell697

    You carry the MR920L correct, is that the same firing system still as the Combat version 920 or was that updated to DR style?

    • @ShadowSystemsCorp
      @ShadowSystemsCorp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mitchell. The MR920L that I carry is a rectangular firing pin. From a manufacturing perspective, all models are converting over to the new firing pin system. Trevor

    On the round striker design, did the addition of a secondary return spring necessitate increasing the main firing pin spring's tension?

    Great explanation Trevor. Love my MR920 Combat. BUT, have you guys considered making a lower that's just a tad more ergonomic? I know you're limited by the magazine, but it still feels like a Glock. Don't get me wrong, love the gun, shoots great, but the ergos would be something that I think could benefit from some further evaluation on future designs.
    Keep up the great work!

    • @anonypersona3189
      @anonypersona3189 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best thing to do is make a G48 clone.... but with the longer (untruncated recoil spring), have backstraps, have a 1911 grip angle, and have a rounded grip (not blocky). Then it would be like the perfect EDC gun... especially with the Shield 15 rd mags.
