Hello, I am Rwandan living in Florida, and I feel so overjoyed to see our sisters and a brother commenting on Rwandan way of living and culture. So, I would like to add something about us Rwandans. Yes, we’re so guarded, but if you can go past that you will find a friend for life. Most people in Rwanda were refugees for 35yrs before they came back to their home land. So, beside our culture that’s so reserved, the suffering of being refugees for many years added to us being guarded. We usually, take our time to know someone, and not because we’re not friendly. In fact, we love people very much, and we can be very chatty when we get to know someone. Attractions: we have lake Kivu which we share with Congo. You can see it on map if you want to see how it looks like. We have parks. Akagera park where you can go to see the animals. We have the Gorilla park. Thought it is expensive, it is worth it. Thanks for talking about my country. 🙏❤️
It was so nice to learn that Makeda was the granddaughter of the late Mrs Enid Witter who recruited me at the UNDP in 1980. On another note, Rwanda is on my bucket list of places to visit. May peace continue to reign in that beautiful land.

Engaging interview and very detailed and fun. Enjoyed it. I think the Jamaican love of their African heritage and in extension, their African brothers and sisters on the motherland is always reflected back to them. How can Zimbabwe not love Jamaica and the late Bob Marley. He funded his trip to sing at our independence and that love stays etched in our hearts. One love!

I would love to ask if they felt any kind of spiritual connection to the continent. Rwanda is very eastern as opposed to where most of our ancestors were stolen from but I'm curious. I immediately felt connected once I landed in Senegal/ The Gambia when I went.

He is running it better than the previous government and if you know anything about Rwanda, you would know that it took President Kagame nearly twenty five years to take Rwanda where it is now, unlike Jamaica, where the non productive PNP control Jamaica for nineteen years straight, then when Golding win, they did everything to undermined him until he had to step down which led to the PNP controlling government again for five years. That was what Andrew inherited and was doing well until covid-19 hit, and as far the violent in Jamaica, it is not only government responsibility, but also Jamaican people some of whom lived abroad where the guns are coming from, which are send to Jamaica by Jamaicans living abroad. .
Yes. I agree. Whenever we say, you are "nuff" in Jamaica it has a negative connotation. On the other hand, whenever we say "you broad" it has a positive ring to it. As an example, when you listen to Barrington Levy's "Here I come," it highlights how we as Jamaicans fell when we say, "yuh broad." 🇯🇲🇨🇦💞
I agree with makeda 100%. Since moving abroad to Germany ive also become such a cook because of how much i miss the jamaican food.😭 I think Rolande is still in the experimenting phase. I want to hear her answer this question after 5 years.
Great interview! I loved hearing about all that greenery... Jamaica used to boast a lot more greenery. Noticing a very strong love affair among some citizens and weed killers. All that burnt and dead grass certainly makes neighborhoods look rather depressed...
Rolande went to St Andrew High School for Girls, she was my senior 2 years above me. She and my sister Miss Joan Racquel Morrison was in the same year group at St Andrew High School for Girls in St Andrew, Jamaica West Indies. They also went to West Avenue School for 5th formers.
There seems to be some similarities with Rwanda and Japan as it regards the temperament of the people and I think it has to do with the crisis they experienced. As it regards Jamaican music Zimbabwe is another country weh nuh ramp when it comes on reggae/dancehall. Me also get dark when people refer to the Jamaican Creole as 'broken English.'

While Rwanda has moved on since the genocide, what happens when there is a change of government from Kigame? Is it really peace after the problems or just quiet until the different groups start to kill each other again?
Rwanda has a lot of cheese, although on varieties it is really not that much. To those coming to Rwanda if you make Genocide memorial a priority. It will guid you to better understand how you will be living with Rwandans, at the Genocide memorial, they tell you the history, and the vision of the country, from there you understand much. For tourism, Rwanda is that sort of natural reserve nation, anywhere you go, you'll find something interesting whether the lakes, rivers, forests, animals, valleys mountains, hills, towns, and villages. But make sure to try two of a lifetimes: Gorilla trekking and Nyungwe forest canopy.
I am always amazed at how bold we Jamaicans are, we fear nothing! The world is ours 😁. Yes, Makeda, not impressed when people associate JA with expletives 🤔😣 😏

You can find yellow and white yam in Rwanda, it’s called ibikoro . Not popular in young people but they are available in market.

I don’t think they will kill each other again even after kagame leaves office.
