Thank you for showing the rosebud tip. That’s new to me and I will have fun trying it. All your tiles are terrific! Thank you so much.
I have absolutely no problem understanding. Plus, as an approach towards a set of simple, decorated patterns, it's excellent!
You made me suddenly realize that I can actually do something so simple that garners great results- thank you!
In my high school advanced crafts class we used unglazed ceramic tiles and painted on them with watercolor, then glazed them ourselves with pour on glaze, glued them on a masonite board cut to the size of the amount of tiles you have, the grouted in between them. It comes out great!
letsdohairandmakeup Hi, did you have to fire the 'pour on glaze', or does it dry without firing?
It dries overnight!
letsdohairandmakeup
Thank you. :')
Jordan wow!
Adding water to the enamel paint will change the paint's integrity. They have a thinning medium available that will do this and will have the same affect as water, without changing the make up of the enamel paint.
I know that it is old one, but I enjoyed it very much. Quick and easy out come. Love it. Thank you
Hi Lindsay. Love your work and your sweet and honest personality. The name of the protruding “leaves” at the end of the berry are called sepals. Sepals form the calix which function is to protect the flower in bud, and often as support for the petals when in bloom.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day. This was a great tutorial to do with grandchildren. Thanks.
Wow! You are so creative! NEver would i have thought painting a rose bud could be that easy! Thanks for that Lindsay!
I haven't used enamels much but this looks like fun and maybe even my very active grandsons may enjoy painting something for their mom.
I have painted many tiles like these and have sold them in different shops. They are always a good gift for any occasion. Dana
Can I know what brand paints to use..I stay in India..
Please suggest
Just letting you know, I did this as a class today with my Senior Citizens, and they went wild with their own interpretations, like on the Rosebud one, one person painted a pink border around the outside and another person made a border out of pink and orange dots that looked really cute. We also painted sunsets and pumpkins. The 4" tiles here are 22 cents at Home Depot.
sue cole awesome Sue! Thanks for sharing the project!
sue cole any photos?
Yeah I thought $0.04 was a little bit off the mark
@@thefrugalcrafter PLEASE TELL ME THE COLOR U R USING THE NAME OF COLOR

I'm a card maker who's scared of drawing or painting anything myself, but you're giving me the courage to try. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos, and Happy Mother's Day!
What colours are you using.......can i paint this with Acrylic coloura?
Lindsay, I bet you can do just about anything. So neat the way you create the petals, nothing too complicated. I must give it a try but will practice on paper first. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful Mother's Day!
thanks, you to Sandra:)
hi Lindsay. i hv never seen painting to be that easy to do. love your way of teaching
I enjoyed your video and it is easy to do. I am making this as a gift for a friend. Just simply fun and creative. Thank you for posting.
Lindsay, That was the nicest streamlining of decorative painting I have ever seen! LOL.. I have spent years teaching those little strokes. Sometimes to no avail. Hugs, Della
Thanks Della! It's the K.I.S.S. method of painting:)
Happy Mother's Day to you too. This was so neat to watch.
Lindsay, I hadn't seen this video yet. No clue how I missed it. I loved it. I think I can do this. I love, love, love it when you speak a bit slower. I just get a tad sad when you are speaking so fast, cuz it gives me the impression that you're doing the video to just throw it out there and I love your teaching skills. I love seeing your tips, teaching and crafting preferences. Many of my purchases are based on what I've learned from you in the past and now. Just sayin. Thx for all you are and do. Lynda/Utah
Thanks a lot for mentioning the brush tips and how the paint shouldn't touch the metal, i learn every day
Awesome tutorial! I used to use enamels a lot, and had built up a very nice color collection, but a couple of years ago when I had a little art room in part of the garage, and the propane wall heater went out, and it was winter, (in Maine), and I didn't go out there for a couple of days so hadn't realized it right away, and the paints and everything else was frozen. I haven't used enamels since, but I would love to someday. I still haven't had the heart to throw them out. Loved this tut, and it's very inspiring to get back into enamels. Happy Mother's Day Lindsay!
did you check them? Maybe they are OK, I know Windsor & Newton artist paints can survive a couple of freeze/thaw cycles so check them:)
thefrugalcrafter . I haven't tried painting with them, but I'll give it a try now. They are the Folk Art Enamels.Thank you!
Thank you for the art lesson. It has been a long time since I have had a basic painting lessons. Your videos are alway a great help to me.

You are so talented Lindsay! I just subscribed to your videos. You are very thorough, never knew about paint going up too high on your brush could ruin it. I am not a crafter but you are inspiring me. Do you make house calls? lol I love your purple blueberries!!! I wish your tiles were in my kitchen!
thank u Lindsay I'll try the blue berry, there is a competition in our school and I wish I win but thank you fr d idea
Can we use normal acrylic for this?
What colours did u use
bloop bloop!..love it!
Happy Mother's Day! :)
Question: These tiles are beautiful. I am so inspired to paint. I am thinking that I want to try these in my art journal first, but I have a question: Can I use regular acrylic paint in my art journal or will it crack? Is there something I should add into it to make work on paper? Would gouche work better on the paper than acrylics? Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful and inspiring (as always) talent.
acrylic is a flexible paint and will be lovely in your art journal, any brand is fine on paper:) I've used it on scrapbook pages for years! Gouache is more likely to crack if you use it that thick, gouache is more like a watercolor that is opaque but is not really meant to use too thickly.
Great tutorial, can't wait to try.
Beautiful,wonderful,nice!
I like your painting.
Happy Mother's Day to you Lin. B
wonnerful Lindsay love this idea
Awesome! Thank you for sharing!
it is really helpful in my school project, so thank u.
You are awesome! I'm a ceramic painter as well and LOVE seeing tips, thought-processes and overall talent from others. Your personality is as interesting as your crafts. Quick Q: since you are using acrylics over already glazed tiles (a very wise and cheap option, FYI) I'm assuming you would not reglaze these and put them back in a kiln, correct?
capone70 correct, these are oven bake enamels, a kiln would burn the paint off I thnk:)
its amazing how much you can teach me in 20 mins, thank you - this was an awesome vid! I love the pink of your shirt, stunning colour, I bet it looked fab!
*blush* I
Lindsey your awesome
Hi..I like how use you are using 2 colors at once with the brush
Awesome 👏🏻
Love your work!
Very nice Lindsay. Looks like fun. A few other people in the comments asked about how the tiles wear. Maybe it was in the video and I missed it. More specifically do you spray it with something like Krylon Kamar or Triple Thick? How would you keep them clean? Will they resist coffee, wine stains, etc.? Thank you
+Eileen Schuller you don't need to spray they will clean with a wet rag;) just air dry 3 weeks or cure 24 hours and bake at 350 for 30 minutes in the oven.
Thank you, I loved this. I had some tiny outdoor ceramic pots that were plain white. I painted them with your method. What should I seal them with before I put them outside. I used outdoor acrylic paint.
Any outdoor sealer
Beautiful
happy mothers day! I love this idea! thanks for sharing! (we do not have enamel acrylic in our country...will regular acrylic work fine?) LOVE your videos!
yes but give the coasters a coat of sprat sealer after they are dry and be gentile when wiping them clean later on.
What colours are you using ???
thanks for sharing. really enjoyed.
You are so cute! How long did it take to realize your index finger is rounder :) I had to look at my fingers when you said that...which finger is better for grapes! You make things make sense...thanx
Beautiful!
Love this video, I was given a bunch of tiles and this would be awesome.
Question, would regular acrylic paint work? 🎨
It will scrape off easily
I had the same question. Is there a glaze or something I can use to preserve the acrylic that I used? I am amazed as to how simple yet detailed this project was for me. Thank you for this tutorial
How is the wear? I want to do something like this for my kitchen backsplash and am wondering how well the paint stays on the glazed ceramic.
Thanks.
Jo Lattin did you try?
Use fire clay tiles instead of ceramic
Very nice! Thank you!
so beautiful 😍
So informative, thank you for sharing your techniques! Do you use any sort of glaze to set these?
what is the best for ceramic painting folk art enamels or all purpose paint?!
Hello, Lindsay. I really enjoyed this video. My wife has expressed an interest in learning to paint on tiles, with an emphasis on birds, small animals, and butterflies. Of course with plant life in the scenes, too. Do you have any suggestions on what a versatile collection of brushes should consist of for a beginner? Thanks. Jim
Jim Hester Try the one stroke brushes by Plaid/Donna Dewberry and Folk Art Enamels, you might be able to get a kit with a 40% off coupon at the big craft stores that will have everything you need. They are reasonably priced at full price too so that's nice. Donna also has a system called one stroke painting that is geared to beginners and she has laminated practice sheets you can paint on before committing it to the tile. I think it would be a good start for her.

Thanks, Lindsay. There's a couple of those stores near me, so I'll get by there.
nice, i have zero artistic ability, but will try. i mainly do pours
please i just came across your beautiful painting, can you seal it for longer use, for example if you want use it in your kitchen. if yes what do you seal it with. thanks a lot.
Cool idea!!! Thank you
Love this! I bought a Vase that is very glossy. I wonder if I can do fingerprint art on it with acrylic paint. Do you think it is possible? if so, do I need to clear coat over it?
*Thank you!*
nice paiting on tile
Love this......
OMG I love this tutorial! THank you for sharing! What do you use on top to seal it if I wanted to paint my house number and use for outdoor?
You don't need to seal it
@@thefrugalcrafter so the paint will stay on outdoor weather? Enamel paint right?
its very easy to learn
Great video
beautiful. should I bake this in rhe oven so that it stays with the tile and to.make it shiny?
Rowena Carbon did you try?
Loved this. Will definitely do this in a matter of days. This would be a wonderful way to immortalize children's artwork.
Wonderful.
