    Hi there, so nice to see you walking in my neighborhood, I walk that stretch with my dog almost every day. You know what, I had the exact same experience when I was in my twenties almost 40 years ago, I moved to Spain (Cadiz). I loved the people, and the nature (climate). As you, I moved that much closer to myself, in a foreign country you get to see everything in perspective. Not an easy journey - but a very rewarding one. Btw, loving the outdoor, is the key to getting on in Oslo.

    Thx for sharing Christina! Will move to Oslo this summer from Asia. Was pretty nervous about the upcoming cultural shock and everything else in a remote Caucasian society. Your honest sharing helps me ease the anxiety. Looking forward to hearing more about your life in Norway!

    • @CristinaFilms
      @CristinaFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I appreciate it.🥰 Yes , cost of living is high, especially in the beginning, one must be very committed to work hard, and should have good savings as a buffer just in case. Long time ago I was a mess, deep in credit card debt. Norway has taught me to be disciplined which has benefited me a lot in the end. I recommend to try to learn the language, it opens many doors.

    What a cool and sympathic chanel! Me and my boyfriend actually think a lot about moving to Scandinavia (from Germany) and it feels so right and so scared at the same time!
    At thus point I really don’t know if it will be sweden or norway. Why was it made you move to norway and not another country?

      Thank you for the kind words! Change is scary, really scary. Fear is not a sign that we should stop going in the direction of our dreams. I have close friends living in Norway. Sweden is cheaper, people are a little more open, however Norway is breathtakingly beautiful.

      I'm in the same situation (but from the Netherlands). Norway has my heart, but Sweden seems like the better option. If everything goes like we hope it will, we would move in about 1,5 years. So curious which of the two you'll end up choosing!

    Hi Cristina, such a nice video, good to hear you move to Oslo was worth it! We are thinking about moving to Oslo as well (from the Netherlands) and I was wondering what it was like for you to find a job in Oslo considering you didn't speak the language?

    • @CristinaFilms
      @CristinaFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jenny, thank you for your nice words! Depends in what kind of industry you are looking, I know that there is always need in IT for example, and also in the restaurant business. I recommend you come with good savings, because it is quite expensive to live here, so in case it takes a while to find a job. You should start to apply already on the internet for jobs in your field , even if you are abroad. At www.Finn.no you have jobs, housing, everything. ( use google translate if it is hard to navigate) Hope it helps , good luck!

    • @ivardigre1790
      @ivardigre1790 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is a lot of jobs avail in Norway, manual craft and office types, but dont aim for the dream job straight away. just apply to loads and take the one that pays good or are close to where you want to live. then you have a job and can start living and build experience, and learn culture. then continue to apply to jobs that is more to your liking :)
      Its expensive to live in oslo, so maybe aim for something outside the city at the begin untill you have a stable good paying job.
      There is a messurement in the papers from january this year that a nurse working in Oslo can only afford 2,5% of homes on sale in and around Oslo on her own when she has 450 000nkr in her savings account.
      a nurse avg salary without anything extra is around 580 000 nkr( like 58 000 euro) and she has 45 000 euro in her savings which is her own input into that home, rest is loan.
      renting is something different though.

    Do you think it's easy to find a job in Oslo?

    • @CristinaFilms
      @CristinaFilms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In summer is easier, and if you are not picky and you move a lot and try really hard, you might find something. But you have to also apply online and give cvs in person, the easiest jobs to find are waiter, bartender, dishwasher , cook. At least to help pay the rent until you get a better job. At the website Finn.no you have many job offers.

    DO you have a video about the legal process to move from Spain to Norway?

    • @CristinaFilms
      @CristinaFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it was a little confusing process and paperwork that I don't remember well, and things have changed after the pandemic, they do it differently now. Google UDI Norway and check the UDI immigration office online, you have every needed information there.

      I am not familiar since I am European citizen, but a lot of Americans move her with a job offer, so if you have a skill that is requested on the job market, apply for jobs directly, even before you move here. Also studying is a good way to move here.

    Hi Christine, I hope your channel will take off. You are a courageous person. Just returned from a small trip to Norway 🇳🇴 and spent also two days in Oslo. Walked the whole city all to the peninsula of Oscar villa and the Viking museum and all the way to the Opera house. Really wondered if there were any Romanians around and how they live in such a cold country. Not only climatewise. Compared to Latinos they are iglo hearted. Strange you mention the Norwegians as being wonderful. The Germanic and Scandinavians are no match for Romanians. We are beter off with Latin people. Of course, it depends on the personal preference, if one is more introverted could get along with these enstranged cool hearted society as well. Every country seems a dream from a distance and while on holiday. But the charme is almost always over once you start living there. That honeymoon feeling wears off and you get down on earth. The excitement turns into a daily routine, and before you know it, you are on your way to your next burn out. So try to find peace with yourself from within, making the right choice where you are. Otherwise you are only transplanting your diseased heart to your new destination. God bless and hopefully you will find what you are chasing for. 🇳🇴 🇷🇴

    • @CristinaFilms
      @CristinaFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, you are right about so many things. I really like how you think. Wherever you go, there you are. Not all Norwegians are very open, but if you are a positive person and you adapt yourself to the Nordic society you find most people are so good and well intended. Thank you for your encouragement and good wishes. God bless!
