I found an aperol/campari alternative too, Cynar. It has more alcohol 16% (so I don’t have to up the alcohol with vodka) and less sweet than Aperol. Not as citrus peel bitter as Campri.
It has the licorice and a touch of iodine taste to it. The iodine is less apparent in cocktails.

Thanks for the note, I love Cynar! I don't really see it as an alternative to Aperol/Campari because it is very different. But now you got me thinking that we should have a full episode on Cynar.
