  • You often hear about Iran in the news, and you might have formed a certain perception of Iran in your mind. A country that is always in a cold war with Western countries specially United States. But do you think this is all there is to it? The cold war is fueled by the media, and some of these media outlets may focus solely on the negative aspects of Iran and portray it that way. That's why many people think Iran is a backward country where its people live in extreme poverty due to sanctions.
    If you also think this way, I suggest watching this video. Iran is very diverse, and the lifestyle of its people varies from city to city. More than 20 ethnicities live together in Iran, each with its own culture and customs.
    Tehran is a big city, and people's lifestyles vary in different parts of it. In this video, we visited a shopping center in northwest Tehran, where you can see the lifestyle of people in this part of the city. You may not expect it, but reality might be different from what you have in mind.

    I hope to visit Iran on day. The Iranians I know, religious or secular, are amazing people. Polite, kind and hardworking. It’s the Iranian work ethic and inner strength that keeps the country functioning as well it has despite so many problems over the last 40+ years. Great videos.

      The economy of our country is weak, but we are not like Afghanistan and Africa, where we are poor and hungry. Every Iranian has a simple and peaceful life, and whenever he wants, he can buy a pizza, no matter how many, and authentic Iranian food is much tastier than this. They are Italian food and people are worried about eating a piece, and if you don't have information from inside a country, you don't have the right to speak.

      In Iran, there are certain dress Anyone you see without a hijab is at risk of being arrested. Although the compulsory hijab law has not been lifted, after last year's protests, people are still fighting, and the police cannot confront everyone. That's why strict enforcement, especially in Tehran and major cities, has decreased compared to before.
      wearing shorts is generally acceptable in appropriate settings, especially during warmer weather.

    I'm Brazilian. We received a lot of news that after the protests against the mandatory use of the hijab, the punishments would have increased. But in the videos there are many women without the hijab. Can anyone explain to me? Thanks

    • @kazempourgholam8594
      @kazempourgholam8594 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Women started to disobey the law when protests happend. And it worked. Gov can't enforce the law in the old way( morality police vans) cuz people attack police officers. So they want to ratify a new law and use surveillance cameras although the trials of the new law weren't successful . Also the new survey done by gov shows that 75 percent are against mandtory hijab

      Women who don't observe the dress code get fined and may face some social restrictions. The restrictions have increased, but apparently nobody cares anymore. And the government can hardly enforce the laws because even the police do not really support these restrictions and the regime has no way to enforce the laws when the majority of people in urban areas of Iran are against them.

      The culture has been gradually secularized. A large portion of the population is non-practising or practice selectively, especially among the millenials and the Gen-Zs. The enforcement of the hijab has become so unpopular that it is done only randomly and in indirect manner. The lifestyle of the young people wont tolerate it any more.

      It is mandatory by law in all public spaces where men and women mix, although it is barely enforced anymore. But just in case many will carry a scarf on the neck. Also it is winter cold and snowy in Tehran these days, so it is comfortable to wear a scarf anyways :)

      This is soooo hard to explain 😂 everything is in a "gray" area in Iran. I'm gonna throw a few random points so hopefully you can read between the lines:
      - The most common type of hijab for women who are not coming from very religious families, is wearing the scarf while showing some hair.
      - That common type of hijab for younger generation has changed to no scarf at all, or carrying it around their neck just in case since the uprisings in 2022.
      It's kind of like an ongoing stand-off between people and the Islamic regime. Even though hijab is mandatory by the law, many women don't obey it, specially since the protests in 2022, and the Islamic government only fights back in intermittent campaigns, stationing their forces in some places to ask women to put on their hijab and possibly arrest them. They don't enforce it to full extent because they are scared that arresting and harming another young girl will lead another uprising and end of their theocracy.
