  • It’s the beginning of the new year. Meaning it’s January and it’s warm enough to ride. In this episode I go through the 5 things I don’t like about the Honda Fury. Some of them are easily fixed, some aren’t, some are really petty.

    I have been a Harley owner and rider for years but I must admit I love the look of the Fury as well as the overall dependability of Honda! The water cooled engine is a plus and the after market add-ons available are amazing too!

    The only two complaints I have about the Fury are the lack of fuel gauge, and the small fuel tank.
    I traded my 2013 CBR600RR on a brand new 2019 Honda Fury on June 1st, and 15 miles from the dealership, Bambi decided to run into me.
    Totally destroyed the bike, damn near killed me.... the short 30 minutes I had the Fury, I loved it! I'm looking at getting another!

      I’d like to see the gear ratios of the 5 gears vs a similar bike with a 6 speed. I suspect they are simply spread further apart and have a similar final drive ratio.

  • @brettleisy356
    @brettleisy356 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    the speed limit on the Fury is a RPM limiter set in 4th and 5th gear, you can have the ECU reflashed to allow a higher RPM limit, as well as many other things. lower idle, advancing timing at higher RPMs (no fall off when getting past half throttle) so you can stay in gear longer on hard accelerations, also the reflash eliminates your need for a EFI Tuner by remapping the fuel/air mixtures directly, 15-30% increases of power (depending on intake and exhaust) and some have reported 50-55 MPG.

      @brettleisy356 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blackbird69xxx if you were reading properly it clearly stated that its depending on your intake and exhaust set up. also the stock ecu settings are meant to pass emission testing standard. it is easy to hit 30% increase with an intake and exhaust change with the reflash. if stock you would be looking at the 15% increase range.
      carb vrs ECU/EFI is a world of difference. you dont have to believe me, but every ECU/EFI bike Ive owned Ive gotten similar results (dyno tested before and after each step)
      my 2020 road glide (107) stock numbers
      75 hp
      103 torque
      after exhaust, intake, and ecu control unit changed
      108 hp
      117 torque
      after came change
      118hp
      130torque
      thats first step gave me over 40%% HP increase and about 14% torque increase.

    6th gear... I'm an old school biker. Connoisseur of the backyard forgotten bike. I buy a bike for $500 -$3000 and fix it up, make it uniquely mine and then ride it until my next bike. There is one thing all of my bikes past and present have in common; 5 gears. I recently bought my wife a 2017 Honda Rebel 500 to learn on and ride (she's quite small). I never remember that last gear. LOL

    I owned one for 3 years and it was my least favorite. It did look really good after I chopped the rear frame, lowered the fender, added custom rear light and turn signals and deleted that beaver tail. But missing the 6th gear on the highway killed it for me. And if you own one, lower the front turn signals. I gently laid mine down on grass once and it was almost $500 to fix the ding in the tank.
    Otherwise, mechanically sound.

    Have a 2016 and agree with most of the stuff on the list. The stock mirrors don't bother me, your shift lever hit the ground which is odd, lean angle ain't great but first to touch down on mine is pegs on either side. And although it is blatenly a turd, it will run with (not past) any stock sportster 883 or otherwise.

    You can have the ECM for this bike flashed. It increases HP and torque 22% and raises maximum RPM to 6100 to 6500 from 5800 (your choice) so gets rid of the 100MPH top speed. In fith gear stock it limits top RPM to 4800. The flash will also lower the idle RPM to around 700 I think it is currently at around 1000 (to high) This is also adjustable in flash program.

    Those are not Fury mirrors! I think Stateline/Interstate mirrors, same as what came on my 2013 purchased in 2015 for $8999. Replaced with Fury mirrors.
    Been using it as a work commuter with a backpack and cruising up to Monterey,etc and back Upgrading to rack and topbox after finding rack maker willing to make one to size.
    After stock windshield, full size replacement windshield on stock brackets and finally fairing, I installed 4" fork extensions and removed fairing. No scraping and wind buffeting beating me to death.
    I forgot about riding 2015 RepsolSP for a year as I was enjoying this bike so much. Everyone in my sphere of influence want's to know "where's the Fury" when I ride Repsol or 2008 Yamaha Road Star!
    Other than replacing stock seat with something more comfortable for rides longer than fifteen minutes (L&M Low Rider seat reworked with a seamless cover by Astech seating) and a EarthX battery ($270 standard/$400 big battery) for the too small stock battery, this bike is perfect. At 5 ft. 8 in. and 140 pounds this bike fits me well.
    If you want a bigger engine, fuel tank or, 6th gear, you bought the wrong bike. Adjust the rear shock and ride! Wish I could add a picture! 2013 blacked out red.

    back when choppers were "born" they had much smaller motors, remember, even in the 80s, a BIG motor was 1000cc, honda gold wing came out with a 1500 I think mid 80s and it was considered gargantuan lol. but getting off track. most choppers had around 750cc motors in teh 80s got up to around 900. and they only had 5 gears, those things going down the road for 100s or 1000s of miles at "high" RPMs. the main thing I wish was available is a swap out gear set so that you would shift into gears later. or at least an option of final drive ratios.

    Have a 2010 Fury...sure wish it had a gas gauge..would be nice. Just bought a shortie backrest. Going to install it today. Also, no front turn signals? Guess that's next on the list. As far as it shutting down at 100mph. Guys, no lie, I had it at 115 and still was motoring!! Now I didn't buy mine new, so maybe previous owner did some upgrades to her. But she rides like the wind man...yeah, 6th gear would be nice. My Big Dog had 6 and it's nice to have on a long stretch. But 5 is ok, ya get use to it. As far as a gear indicator goes, for the Fury, with only 5th gear, I find myself trying to shift again. Only because of the windout at about 60mph. But in time, I'll get use to it. Overall, a really sleek sexy bike. Got my show lights all on it and get a lot of attention!
    Keep the rubber down all !!!
