Singing is a God-given talent, and someone explaining musical terms, like whistle or high notes, is simply expressing their God-given talent to non-musically- educated folks.
Moderation in all things. I think, we may compare singers but do it specifically - for example: this singer has better vocal technique, that one has larger range, and this one is the best for me because i like his voice timber.
It's no problem actually, we are always allowed to see singers comparison. What is wrong is to say one singer better than the other without saying specific category. We can surely say this singer do better than Mariah Carey in voice range category.

Connoisseurs of good music will agree that she being a non native speaker of English has a voice range that is worth every cent. She is a celebrity singer. Mariah is leagues ahead a comparison is not necessary here. But give her the due she has a scale and pitch that is vast. That should be the point not the comparison in my opinion.

I was a kid when i first watched this, i didnt know about notes that time so i didnt care much about the notes she hitted, but now i can say that she's blessed with her voice and her range is amazing! 💓
She does have a real depth to her voice and has much more feeling than other singers her age or adults even that sing superficially. I do appreciate her range although I don't think that's the most important element of this song and the way she sings it so well and the style of singing is very touching.
Yes it's truely her original one, not a total copy of mariah's. Morisette is almost 100% the same as mariah. But they all are so amazing. Mariah is still the classic, I don't know why but I'm more to serena's version.

Well, I prefer Mariah too because she can manage very low notes, chest and head voice, and transitions better. Also, Mariah does not shout any note plus, her whistle tones are filled with harmony. Music is not about how high someone will reach, but how good harmony is delivered.

The singers who covered Mariah's songs murdered everything especially their vocal chords. I don't feel they need to make a Mariah song even higher because her songs are already high af!!! Now they sounded like a cat being strangled. People should know that it's not about singing the highest notes ever or singing higher than the original version but it's about singing to tell a story, and singing with a great technique, emotions, control and quality
