Thank you for the review, TD. I recently purchased the Timp 5 GTX... I am very happy with them! I wear 13's and they are spot on - same size I wear in all my Altras. Hiking Grand Canyon rim to rim in October... will compare these to the reg Timp 5. Thank you again for all your great Altra reviews.

Thanks for the review, I wanted to make sure that the tongue was gussetted. I hope there will be a few more colorways of this boot coming soon, thank you TD🦋👣

I hope it can be seen from the video, but if not: the tongue is gussetted from height of the red eyelet to the sole of the boot. Stones and debris can still come in though, as the tongue is not attached to the upper. I should probably make a quick short video to clarify 😅 but it's hard to make it visible on camera.

I wish sizing for Altra would be consistent. I wear 10's in their running, had 10.5 in their past timps, and now Timp 5 I'm at an 11

I am waiting for the Hiker Low "Water proof " version to have some kinda shoe to be able to run in the rain, because the MontBlanc 's upper is just horrible for the rain, I.have just done a 10 k run in the rain with them, the grip is awesome but when.the upper gets wet, they feel horrible, much heavier, wet and with the feeling that it will take forever for the upper to dry. ...

Thanks TD, brilliant as always. How they cope in technical terrains, scrambling, easy climbing?

Really great grip, comfortable forefoot push-off, decent ankle support. Also downhill. However once it gets muddy, grip could be improved.

How do these compare with Altra Olympus 5 Hike Mid GTX?

Great review. I've read that some people have issues with the internal stitching rubbing on the ankles - no problems for you by the sound of it?

None at all! I guess it also depends on the socks and how tight you tie the laces. My latest hike was about 4-5h on my feet, and had no issues whatsoever.

Good to know, thanks@@TDMiller! Interested in a pair of the GTX ones for winter hiking.

That's stitch is only on the GTX version, so not an issue with the non waterproof.

@@dcl97 Ahh good to know, thanks for clarifying. I might need to try them on first.

True to size? Where are they made? Thanks.

In my experience, yes, true to size. And they are made in Vietnam according to the tag.
