- You can learn how to Crochet the Arcade Stitch, also called the Arch Stitch in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This is a lovely vintage stitch that has an arch like design to it. It's been used as a stitch pattern for a blanket, scarf, shawl, even a skirt and tunic. For this sample I'm using worsted weight yarn and a size H 5 mm crochet hook.

It really is! My Gram used this stitch decades (and decades!) ago for blankets. One of her favorites I think!

This is the only crochet you tube I look at. I love it! I'm trying to work the arcade stitch. I've watched the vid 10 times and have also downloaded the pattern. But I can't seem to get past the first row. When I get to the end of the row, I end up with 5 SC instead of the chain three and then the two SC. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I start with 32 stitches, and I'm sure to start the row with the sc in second and third chain.
I've figured it out. It was the offset that was throwing me off (I think).

Can a border be added to this stitch I have an arch stitch blanket already made but I want to add a border to it please advise which border would look good and the instructions for the border thanks for the help

What's the best thread for this stitch if i want to make shawl (following you from Kuwait)
I generally like thinner yarn for shawls. Something like a 100% cotton crochet thread, size 3. Or a very thin wool that people use for making socks.
