- After 8 years...I finally brought my mom for an overseas trip to Tokyo, Japan!
I was honestly quite anxious and scared planning for the trip but I'm glad it went quite well! Also, this is my first time vlogging alone overseas so give chance k? hahaha

thanks for this Japan vlog, Pat. i totally agree with you about parent-child dynamic especially 'Asian mom'. they could seem 'less sensitive' to feelings. i'm glad in today's society, mental health awareness is being talked about and parents shouldn't be harsh and put too much pressure on their kids. to quote - In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

can try going on a cruise next time! as long as you spend time together im sure it's great. and i can relate to ur mom not wanting to go out at night lah. what I learnt is that it's good to have a 'two session per day' rule. so there's morning, afternoon and evening session. you can go out for two of the three, but the last one must be for rest, e.g. go out morning and night, so rest in afternoon; go out morning and afternoon, rest at night (but usually I will go out in the morning lah. cuz usually the mornings are nicest).
Yea I’m thinking to go cruise next. Less walking. Haha! But I learn this time. Next time will adopt this 2 sessions thing. 👍🏼

Omg that gold pawning memory recap made me tear up 😢 I realise many Singaporeans when on holiday try to cover as many areas as possible so that our money goes further, not easy for old people who get tired easily. Maybe try a resort/bali if she prefers to just chill out and walk less instead of sightseeing :)

Seems like most parents are similar. I bought my dad to Taiwan with my siblings this may. It was a 9 day trip. First 4 in Tai Zhong and last 3 in Taipei. Tai Zhong trip he rested early and went to the night market once. As we booked a private driver for the Tai Zhong part of the trip, there is very little rest in between. By the end of the day, he is flat out. However during the Taipei part, we took public transportation and during mid day we will bring him back to the hotel to rest. At night he will ask us which night market we will be going. 😂😂😂
Yours still got go back hotel to rest. I feel so bad for her that we walked the whole day 😅

@@JOHNPATCROSS Ya going with parents for tour is very very different, need breaks in the middle, a short 1 hour rest can do wonders.

I went to EU with my mum for my brother graduation and after that trip, i'll never go on another trip with her again. She's expressed worry about food (no chinese food) and extreme fear of motion sickness prior to the trip. I made sure every meal had food options she would eat and no boat rides. She tries but oh my goodness i was operating like a 1-women-tour-agency but felt no appreciation from her, more so tolerance. It made my first trip to EU quite meh.
No DNA testing for required to prove that's Pat's mum. They laugh the same! So cute.
