      Yeah, the way they put a Vasoline performance from 2001 and one from 2015 back to back... just shows how bad it got... heartbreaking.
      And then his statement about being sober for 13 years, having been made just a few months before he died and right after that footage where he was clearly wasted... and how it didn't match the timeline at all (he was arrested for possession in 2004, if I remember correctly, so he couldn't have been sober for 13 years just 11 years later).
      A great talent that was ruined by drugs and by his inner struggles.

    This ones for Scott, who's talent not only brought my parents together, but also brought my family together. One of my parents first dates together as a couple, was at an STP show. 'Date night' for my parents meant going to a concert whenever they could. STP was one of those bands my parents shared a love for. My parents were & still are huge fans of not only STP but Weiland in general, & this news of his passing is hard to take in.
    Thank you for bringing my family together Scott with your voice, your mind, your soul & your talent.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.

      This is a day that will go do in memory as a 'Where were you when you heard the news about...' moment. It is such a heartache, I understand I wasn't a close friend but he brought joy to this household, I could put his music on anytime of day and my parents would tell me to play it louder. It's sad to see him leave so soon.

    The thing that just puts a lump in my throat after being around when he and STP became a BIG DEAL is the fact he made a beautiful Christmas album and was said to have a childlike giddiness for Christmas. Scott you were too fragile for this world. Thanks for staying as long as you could.

    • @celticqueen9762
      @celticqueen9762 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Your comment REALLY hit home for me, in tears. I, like Scott, was molested. And like Scott I've been battling addiction and depression for decades, because when one is high the pain finally goes away. I also love Christmas, to me it's always been magical. Those of us whose childhood was stolen and who are sensitive do tend to be this way. It's a tough hard world, and it truly sucks that he's gone but I pray he's at peace now. I am staying the course for my sobriety, I have people I love who love me and it's for them and myself that I stay clean. Ngl though it's extremely hard at times, especially when things are hard. Those who've traveled this road know, and compassionate people like you make ALL the difference. Bless you. ❤

    this is a class a example of what drugs can do to you. look at how amazing he sounded 15 years ago in vasoline, with The Doors, and on the Xmas special. Then watch the vasoline video from 2015....speaks for itself

    • @Stahlgewitter
      @Stahlgewitter 9 ปีที่แล้ว +90

      that is so ...ignorant. he WAS on drugs when he sounded the best, and that Vasoline botch was probably drinking. He drank way too much toward the end. So people, for crying out loud, stop talking about what you sint now about. Not that drugs are good or anything. I'm just sick of people disrespecting him (especially now, but I got upset before, too) by insinuating they know anything about his habits. I believe he was pretty straightforward about his using, and if one has done drugs, one knows when another is or isn't on them. And he wasn't. maybe at the very end, but I strongly believe it was his prescription bipolar meds that ruined him. there is a definite line that cam be drawn in the way he looked and performed, starting in, oh....maybe 2013?

    • @adamkendall3932
      @adamkendall3932 9 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      +ARBIZA Rock Band... look guys I wasn't trying to disrespect Scott in any way, I've been a fan of STP,Velvet Revolver, and Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts for years now, I was simply stating what drugs (or drinking, etc) can do to a guy, and using that as an example. I know it's probably wasn't the best example to use, but it wasn't supposed to be taken so harshly. Everyone has off days, and I get that. R.I.P Scott

      +Ron La Manna I just watched an interview with him from 5 years ago on Howard Stern. At that time, he said he needed to pay at least 60 grand a month in alimony and child support. He was cash poor, though he did have stocks, homes and a retirement account. The bottom line is: if he was that cash poor 5 years ago, you could imagine how broke he was now.
      He was really in no shape to be touring the country, either mentally, physically or musically. He was trying to make bank, and for most of the shows he wasn't performing well at all. I think it's a tragic situation all the way around. He once was a very talented individual who was now reduced to doing gigs in small clubs to pay his bills. RIP Scott...you will be missed, and I will remember you for what you once were, not to what you were reduced to in the end.

The first album , yes, was grunge, but Purple, the album that really made him a superstar, one can hear all sorts of influences in the songs, from country to seventies pop to Eastern Indian influences. He was a true talent in the 90s. Then drugs happened.

    I can't think of a bad VR or STP song, and that's because of the attitude and talent that he brought to the table. When I saw that video of Vasoline earlier in 2015 and then another denial about not drug use, I knew the writing was on the wall. It's so sad to watch a once vibrant, energetic performer shrivel up and die right in front of our eyes. I feel for his wife, kids and family and hope he's finally found some peace.
