  • Walking past these guys at SEMA their crisp wheel bands drew me in. Cool colors, DIY install and easily replaceable parts all make this product an awesome solution to a problem for people who love their wheels. It's also a great solution for people who want to add a color bead to their tire and their OCD demands perfection.
    These guys were kind enough to offer WorkPlayDrive subscribers a massive 20% off their order when using code WorkPlayDrive at www.rimpro-tec.com
    They went on easily and have been getting a lot of compliments. Let me know what you think in the comments below and feel free to tag me if you happen to install these on your car.

    I think products like this are functional and look great. I have something similar
    But it was already in a ring so you had to buy correct size. To install you had to jack up the car and deflate tire then put these little stem like piece under the tire (if you ever had an AFX racing set as a kid and put the yellow guard rails on that’s what the ends were like)once on I gave a tap with rubber mallet all around and then re inflated. They have stayed on without any issues and I’ve had car up 100+.
    Sweet video nice mod with little effort and as always great instructions

      I can say if installed properly to a clean grease free wheel they stay on and hold strong. I am also able to change the colors over and over without issue.

      Work Play Drive slowly getting my car up to speed. This weekend I got my calipers painted light blue, chrome delete and my front end grill painted black, my RT badge painted light blue, my tail lights smoked out and my side markers smoked out. Followed your advice and got the Merrick intake rings in Blue. Actually gonna get those to match my RT light blue badge. I’m happy with how it looks. My car color is Maximum Steel so it’s hard to make things pop with this color. Just ordered new fender badges with the new scat Pack bee with horns. Gonna paint those to match my calipers. Should look great. I’ll get these rim guards soon. Again keep up the great videos.

    Just came across this vid as I'm watching your library. I need these! My rims are still un touched. But same deal. I park so close to curbs to keep my car safe. But question.....
    It seems like when you need a tire pulled off the rim these will get ripped off as well.

    Also how do you like the Arturo's compared to the Goodyear's that come stock?

    • @WorkPlayDrive

      Atturo tires were far better than the stock F1s 👌 no need to remove the wheel bands, a shop that does touchless install like most discount tires will not damage them.

    I like the orange very much, however I am a bit concerned about it only being stuck on with doublesided tape.

      A little jealous, however I'll be Driving in Germany a few times over the next year so I'll get to enjoy, sadly my Challenger will be at home. When properly applied the company says they will stay on, but should be considered a wear item and checked periodically especially if you curb often.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The AZ800 have a cool tread pattern but their wet performance suffers because of it. Because the scat has a twitchy rear and I daily drive this car with my kids I wanted the added grip of the 850’s tread pattern.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, but you need to apply these to a smooth clean surface. so if you mangled the wheel you need to file or sand the area flat before installing. These were on my car for about a year with no signs of coming off, I also swapped beads on them often changing it to orange for shows and black for daily driving.

  • @Parzivaul
    @Parzivaul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bought these based off of this video. Went with white on black wheels/white car. Look great. However, as far as curb protection, they ripped right off when pulling up to a drive-thu window.
    Sure, this could be due to user installation error, or not running a wide enough tire to take advantage of them.
    Thankfully I had spares lying around and was able to just cut another one put it right over the scrape. Can hardly tell now.

    Best rim protection is getting a wider tire than what the wheel asks for. Im not saying putting 315’s on a civic rim. Just go 1 to 2 sizes over.

      That depends on the shop you take it to. I only go to places with hunter Touchless machines. These tire machines remove the tire without ever touching the wheel. Some places completely butcher the wheels in this case you may need to replace.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's all about the preparation, cleaning the wheel, removing any waxes or coatings, then installing. Mine held up for over a year before I traded in the car with many miles and washes with a power washer without issues. If you put it on a tire covered in tire shine or ceramic coated wheels and don't prep it will fall off quickly.

      I would wait or put it on in a heated garage and leave it inside overnight. When it’s cold the adhesive will not properly bond to the surface. For this you need a perfect bond.

      I tug on them whenever I was the car at least once a week, and I've pulled the bead out and swap from orange and black almost once a week for shows as well. They are still holding strong.
      I'm wondering if the failure is from improper prep? This is the same adhesive used to hold on automotive badges, the other variables is possible people being sloppy with the oily tire shines... once those get under adhesive I'm sure certain ones will have the same affect as goof off, goo gone, WD-40 etc.

    Okay, one more unrelated question. What do you use to clean your dash? This is a first for me.... I've never seen a tacky, rubbery surface like this that pulls fibers from the microfiber cloth and leaves lint everywhere. I've only tried a dry wipe so far, and I'm about to use a damp cloth with this go, but I don't see this as a long term cleaning solution. My dad used to use Armor All...... I've banned it from my house..... That crap ruined his dash. I'm nervous about this happening to me. What do you think?

    • @WorkPlayDrive

      I just posted this yesterday in a facebook group nice timing...
      I've been using Turtle Wax Ice for the last 3
      years, I needed a cleaner in an emergency and only kmart was open.
      It worked well so I just kept on using it. In the challenger I only spray it on
      the microfiber then wipe all the interior soft surfaces and it gives off no
      glare. On occasion I spray it on surfaces that need a good cleaning. It does
      not disintegrate the button surfaces
      It works really well on any types of drips or spills, I've been using it to
      clean all our cars (especially the ones the kids are allowed to eat in) It has
      a smell to it, (odor eliminating) it's not unpleasant but I prefer No smell in
      my cars, but the smell only lasts a day or so.
      I use the Kirkland Microfibers as they don't fall apart like the cheaper ones. You can get them on amazon or direct from costco and save about $8 on the package.
