Finally someone went into great detail on this thing. This plug is amazing yet dangerous if you don't know how to use it! Thank you!!

I’ve been ignoring this plug-in for awhile due to the fact that it is from waves
I have a very love hate relationship with waves and I was worried about the saturation not being properly up sampled and issues with phasing in the high-end
However, I recently found that one of my regular mastering engineers who runs a multimillion pound mastering and Recording studio in Manchester uses this plug-in as his first choice when mastering individual stems, especially on vocals
They have access to an incredible desk and every plug-in available and this is still the plug-in that they go to
This is a classic for a reason

Yeah, same here. I have a love hate relationship, mostly because of the ridiculous update plan. But the Abbey road & Magma plugins are great.

I know what you mean. I had an issue with Waves. One of their distributors advertised the SSL Bundle as compatible with my Mac O.S. after I purchased, registered it and went through the entire iLok thing the plugins knobs and controls were out of the designers boxes like misaligned and it didn't work. I explained by contacting waves support for a full refund as well as Sweetwater Sound which I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars there. The bottom line was... "We're sorry you didn't read the compatibilty chart, however we don't refund any plugins or software". That went $375.00 of mine down the sewer. I was sooooo pissed off they blamed me for the false advertisement. Very F_cked up. I decided to never buy another plugin from them until I heard the compatibility from 2 or 3 different distributors first and made sure they all gave me the same compatibilty specs for my Mac O.S./ RAM / Processor and processing power. P.S. Finally my Waves Plugins work again due to iLok and upgrading my entire computer and O.S. what a nightmare. I always tell my friends to turn off automatic Mac updates. That can ruin your entire system by upgrading to the latest O.S. because Apple is ahead of all the software companies. None of the plugin manufacturers are caught up with them so keep your old O.S. if everything already works.

Cool vid. The “freeze” button wasn’t a modern addition to this delay. On the original unit - which I’m surprised didn’t get mentioned - the Lexicon Prime Time, there is a freeze button which does the same thing it does on this plug in (but much wilder!). Also the “adjust” button isn’t to make the pitch bend. It was on the original unit as a tempo “fine-tune” knob, so that people in 1979 could get the tempo to hopefully sync with their track. Soundtoys have kept it as a function, for those of us not using midi.

I use this plug in at the end of every instrument buss. I thought to always have it in the green on both input and output, but it was way too low and a pain trying to balance all the levels out. Im glad you explained that its okay to go into the yellow and maybe sometimes even the red. Great video, Hope to see more. I would love to see you do the Abbey Road TG Mastering plun in.
    Cheers

Really nice sounding plugin. I love it. The only problem i have is aliasing when i want a bit extreme setting :( since I work on 44100 sample rate i have to increase OS for cleaner sound.
I’ve heard some ppl saying before mixdown increase sample rate when im done. What do you think
    Thanks for review ❤

Your outro is very comparable to my own stance on the whole thing. What should matter is the tool itself and whether or not it does its job. And if it does the job and does it well, then that is what should matter. Similarly, you can choose whatever tools you think will best serve your purposes. After all, Waves Abbey Road Saturator is not the only one that does what it does. But I think where it can get ridiculous is when tribes are forming, i.e. Team Waves or even Team Non-Waves. There are much better reasons to form communities and a community founded on an antagonistic attitude can only last for so long.
All in all, I am glad you are reviewing tools like this because - in all honesty - we need *more* videos that just demonstrate what it does and how it works. After all, it's been out for a while and the initial marketing phase has long since passed.

@@XNBeatsMusic Many musicians are running away from waves, even after they pulled back their pricing policies. Only time will tell if they would return back. You are probably the first channel to review a waves plugin after that happened. Regards.

Yes, I asked the community and responded YES, so there you go. People decide what they want to know here, I like that on a channel. You have a saying in what gets released and It's not just MY will.

I love this joint, just discovered it, breaths new life into my mixes without overdoing it. Been running entire mixes thru it
