Why did they scrap special editions ? They were just perfect
It was more of a monetary issue, if a core set got poor sales the SE would follow with the same pattern for the most part, stores would be clogged with "bad product" for a while.
Yes SE do have promos wich can be a great incentive but the promos weren't consistently good, some times we get cards like Hyper Librarian, Spore, Effect Veiler, S0: Utopic Zexal or Called by the Grave while other times we get Salamgreat Coyote, Gouki Destroy Ogre, Battle Shogun of the Six Samurai or The Winged Dragon of Ra.
Like 3/5 of all the promos in Special Edition were either usless or pointless.
And while you may say the other 2/5 is enought to sell the rest of the SE it would do NOTHING to sell the main booster box.

I played back in 2008 - 2012, stopped playing a few years and this game is overly complex now and pendelums just ruinednit entirely. Not the same anymore
No one plays pendulums. They are garbage
special editions had better value. Back when packs were $4 you'd get 3 packs plus a promo that actually had value or use for $10 or $3.33 per pack. Now packs are $4.50 and you only get 4 packs plus a pretty much useless token for $18. 4 x 4.50 = $18. you pretty much aren't saving any value compared to the special edition
