    These were the two cars I narrowed down to, after exhaustive research and test drives. The Pilot has the smoother ride, softer steering, and looser handling. It has a very basic interior, very utilitarian. It gets subpar gas mileage. The CX-90 has the sportier ride, albeit the transmission can be jumpy. It also has better handling and heavier steering, but a far firmer ride as a result, particularly on 21" wheels. It gets much better fuel efficiency but provides a hair less space. Its interior feels far more premium.
    The biggest deciding factor for me was that Mazda acrually has inventory and Honda does not at the moment, so I was able to find the exact CX-90 color combination and trim I wanted, negotiated the price down, and financed at 0.9%. None of that wouldve been possible with the Pilot.
    BTW, regarding the discussion of touchscreen in a different comment on this video, it boggles my mind that people bang on piano black plastic in high-touch areas but then want a fingerprint-laden touchscreen smack dab in the middle of their dash. The Mazda dial is remarkably effective now rhat I've learned it, and my display looks great and fingerprinr-free without constant cleaning.

    I own a CX90 PHEV Premium Plus, but I just had a Mazda CX90 with the base inline 6. That engine really hauls. 0-60 and 1/4 mile my PHEV is quicker. But if you are doing highway speeds and you step on it the inline 6 kills the PHEV.
    I feel the PHEV is a little more refined and quieter to me, but you can’t go wrong with the Mazda. Also, the price for inline 6 models have gone down. That model that Ben is reviewing has a MSRP that is less than $51,000.000 now!

    Mazda reduced the prices last week, now the highest trim "Premium Plus" is $49k, "Premium" trim is now $46k. Also CX-90 is offered with 0.9% financing. Great value for money.

    Mazda cx-90 is like luxury suv. The materials and craftsmanship are a top-quality . The drive is like a little stiffer. The handling is comparable to BMW . Besides, it is made in Japan in a state of art brand new facility . Mazda all day long.

  • @TheDiameter

    If you need maximum 3rd row size, and you don’t care about sluggish performance + poor real world fuel economy the Honda is absolutely for you, plus the engine is longer in the tooth so likely to be bulletproof.
    The Mazda is the clear winner in every other way.

    After 260,000 on my Honda Odessey, it's getting time for a new vehicle. I have been narrowing down for my next car between these and the Buick Enclave. Historically, I love the feel of driving Mazda and it is a better value which is importNt to me. For mentheir flaw is the lack of comfort features such as cup holders in door packets that fit decent sized cups. The console feels bulky and pratically useless. Big difference from what I am used to.
    The drive of the pilot has improved and the 2024 seat fits me better (5'2") than prior models. The interior cup holders and space will likely makenitna win for me but the supply has been limited and the price too high in comparision. The gas mielage will be a shocker compared to my minivan which offers more space, etc..

    The new mazdas are beautiful. Not to mention, the only vehicle i know of that still offers an inline 6 AND it's turboed. It's hard to compete with that engine platform. Interior is way better. Styling is way better. I don't think there's much competition here.
    I've owned and loved many hondas over the years, but their styling and marketing are ridiculous these days. The whole HPD package thing is such a joke. Wow, i get gold wheels and decals to make my not truck look like a truck...? No stop. I mean, ridglines are sweet and more than enough truck for city dwellers (i tested one before i bought my frontier and really liked it), but it's just silly. Honda is capable of much more they're just money grabbing now.

    • @TheDiameter
      @TheDiameter 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      I love its infotainment system, simple, clean, unobtrusive. The dial is unironically my favorite part of the controls. ALL touchscreens suck and distract the driver. Predictable, repeatable, and tactile controls are the best for driver focus. There’s a reason that aircraft controls aren’t touchscreen based.
      The ONLY things the Honda has going for it is a larger 3rd row and a more well proven powertrain. It’s a loser in every other objective metric.
