Young, first home buyers here in Australia are being outbid by wealthier citizens, be that investors (including overseas investors) or 2nd/3rd home owners, or baby boomer retirees who are downsizing with cash in hand. They were renting so were in a better position to move without a chain. It's not always about the money. And yep still unpacking boxes 4 months later!! 🙂

I've just bought a place for my daughter...we completed in September...after three failed purchases (three lost survey fees etc). Again saved over a while, super frugal and some drawdown from my pension. On the upside it gives me an income and ensures my daughter is in a safe nice house. I'm one of those women now waiting forever for my state pension.
@@WhatVivididnext She's totally worth it. She's a community mental health nurse and works so hard but was stuck in really horrible rented accommodation with no chance of buying for herself. She does so much for others it was lovely to be able to help.

My town was flooded. All of the schools were closed. Some of the shops were closed. The brook across my house was flooded but thankfully my house is ok. Sadly some of the houses in my town got flooded. The village next to us was flooded so bad and no one was allowed to enter. It was crazy. Glad that you were staying safe.
Awesome!…in the U.S. we go into “Bidding Wars” all of the time when there is more than one offer in a specific amount of time. It’s crazy. We can sign contingency contracts, which are dependent on the sale of our property…..and agents will promote higher bids because it favors the amount of what they get paid. Your system doesn’t sound much different than yours. I agree I am a very cautious buyer as well…the deal is not done until it’s done. I am so excited for you!!! @@WhatVivididnext She's totally worth it. She's a community mental health nurse and works so hard but was stuck in really horrible rented accommodation with no chance of buying for herself. She does so much for others it was lovely to be able to help.

My town was flooded. All of the schools were closed. Some of the shops were closed. The brook across my house was flooded but thankfully my house is ok. Sadly some of the houses in my town got flooded. The village next to us was flooded so bad and no one was allowed to enter. It was crazy. Glad that you were staying safe.
Oh how sad.......flooding can be so devastating and such a heartache for folk trying to get their home sorted and dry again. 😢

Awesome!…in the U.S. we go into “Bidding Wars” all of the time when there is more than one offer in a specific amount of time. It’s crazy. We can sign contingency contracts, which are dependent on the sale of our property…..and agents will promote higher bids because it favors the amount of what they get paid. Your system doesn’t sound much different than yours. I agree I am a very cautious buyer as well…the deal is not done until it’s done. I am so excited for you!!! That's wonderful news! I understand your caution -- until the keys are actually in your hands. And just think, if you continue being frugal you, some of the extra money can go towards your emergency repair fund for the unexpected or something else you may want or need in the future. Just so happy you won't be required to do all those stairs in the future.
