      Thanks man. After this basic head gasket swap, things will start to get interesting. Roll bar, bucket seats, interior decisions, suspension decisions, e85 tune, etc. 😁😁😁

      I’m in a similar boat with a 2000 Forester I got for 1k and head gaskets, cam seals, and timing tensioner finally gave way. Got a spare motor from an 08 Forester n/a (ej253) and might be using the heads from a ej22 dual port and make a hybrid supercharged build. Budget sleeper status.

    Subaru has a second hood support that has the hood close to 90 degrees, just have to remove the hood support out of the primary location to the strut tower

      He’s correct, though wind may not be your friend. Don’t trust it for long periods of time. I support your idea of securing the hood besides just a prop shaft/wand.

    ....why the hell would you jack and put a jackstands there? There's a front jacking plate and pinch welds for a reason. Also, there's a secondary hood prop location on the pass. side strut tower. That allows the hood to stand straight up.

    • @SubaruONLY
      @SubaruONLY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. Will check that out. Good points for sure. Didn’t realize the hood prop deal till now. Never too old to learn something new 😁😁😁

      @@SubaruONLY hell yeah, dude 🤙🤘 the jacking plate is below (or should be) the power steering rack bolted to the sunframe

    • @SubaruONLY
      @SubaruONLY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes good call man. And you are right for sure! This car is little bit too low for my cheap ass jack to get under that center jack plate - so couldn’t slip under it to lift from there. Dude - thanks! 🤙🤙

    • @WahooNo2
      @WahooNo2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was gonna say the same thing about the jacking plate, pinch welds, and the hood prop hole. At least if you tie it down, it won't hit you in the head if you bump the prop rod. Also, when you jack up the rear you can use the rear diff.

    Luke how can I access the video on how to remove the torque converter bolt the number 13 on your list thanks heaps

  • @schorschix6227
    @schorschix6227 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not a fan of how you jack up the car. There are already dents in the "frame rails". There are several better points to use.
    Also the hood can be held up by the OEM hood prop, wich is removable and can be attached to the right (passenger) side strut tower. There`s a specific point for it

    I am having an issue with my wrx. I have a 02 bugeye with an ej208 engine. I noticed smoke coming backwards in to the turbo and going out the exhaust. It seems it's not going through the oil return line. It's like it's going backwards. Is there a reason for this happening?

    • @SubaruONLY
      @SubaruONLY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Little confused. So smoke is coming out where? White or black smoke? All the time or just when the car is first fired up?

    • @Jeremiahsntg
      @Jeremiahsntg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SubaruONLY it's a bit hard to explain, I turn the car on. And it wont smoke then after a while it starts to smoke and oil is coming out the exhaust, I took the turbo out and the inlet housing and the exhaust housing is full of oil. I was thinking the oil return was blocked. But it's something else. It's like the oil isn't going all the way through. It's like it's going backwards.
