So - IF I have a Nikon Z6 and I get a Zoom F4 - Do I need TWO tentacles to sync my F4 with the Video I’m shooting on the Z6 or can I get away with just ONE? Any complications if I will be using this with the Ninja V recorder shooting N-Log ie any delay going over HDMI rather than the XQD card so can shoot N-Log?
Rodolfo! in your experince, which is the best way to run the TC? by free run, Date, or it depends of the production and it is a decision of the DIT? Thank u and saludos desde Colombia!
I noticed some retailers sell a pair of Tentacles. So you would buy one for each camera? Or have one connected to camera and then the second to your recorder/mixer or iPhone? Can someone please explain?
Its just another lockit box you can use it as slave or master, it could go to another camera or recorder/mixer ( that do not have a timecode generator internally ) like the mix pre 6 or mix pre 3 from sound devices, I don’t know if you can record timecode into a phone but that’s interesting 🤔 let me know if that makes sense
You would need a tentacle to sync the audio in your cameras the mix pre 10 will be the master and your tentacles will be the slave that way the editors can synchronize audio and video
Who syncs the audio to the video when you use tentacle syncs? You have the license for the software, so do you bring your laptop on set and do it on your computer then hand it off? Cheers.
Boom Sound This is a common misunderstanding of tentacle sync. Like any other time code devices, tentacle sync is using plain simple smpte time code. Thus will work with any editing software/daw software for reading out or syncing the footage in post. There is no need for the tentacle sync software, they just made their own (and quite good) software you can use, but you don't have to.
Boom Sound, In my case there is a designated editor or media wrangler on set syncing audio with timecode, I just have to make sure my tentacles are good to go and plugged in the right camera port, the software to my understanding was for shooting cameras with no timecode ports but I am not sure about that 🙏❤️
RLFO SOUND software is both for ltc on audio track as well as time code in file headers (like with time code capable cameras and recorders). Same can be achieved with an Avid for example, but the tentacle sync software is very simple straightforward
Great job my man, I love your videos so much, they make me love sound even more ! (and make me very impatient to get all the equipements I want :p) I wish I'd discover your channel earlier ! Shout out from Morocco homie !
You're very welcome bro ! I wanted to comment on your giveaway video but as I told you I live in Morocco, so I think the shipping fees will be twice as expensive as the giveaway price hahaha ! Anyway, you transmit your passion for sound in a very natural and easy way, and we can clearly see the dedication you put in this channel, that's why I think you'll be able to build a very nice TH-cam channel (plus your videos are top quality !). Keep up the good work ! Cheers !
Excellent review!
I own a couple of the old version and they work perfect.
Cristian Arias they are great brother !!!

Bit late, but just one needed as the F4 has a timecode generator built in. Just jam the tentacle to the F4.
Do you know if I can download the app on an Ipad, also how do you power both the new and old tentacle?
Alejandro Reyes according to the App Store there is an iPad and I watch version 😉 , they have internal batteries they last about 28 hours or so
RLFO SOUND Noice!! As soon I get my G3's, this will be my next purchase.

I always do free 24h run in my machine I find it to be the best way for my work flow.

RLFO SOUND Made sense thank you. So I recently got the MixPre 10t that has timecode. Would I still need to get a Tentacle device?

DISLIKE. You are talking very fast, and too much cuts in the video. Calm down man, calm down.. It's a review video, not your life story video.
