So this was a pretty damn good video. I did the same install using the same harness. Took me about two hrs. Hardest part is finding the damn hole for the last screw since you can’t see it. I have an extra harness if someone is looking for one at a slightly discounted price
Honestly one of the best videos I ever seen good job, I want to do the same but I have no idea who can do the job I live around San Jose ca if someone can help I realy appreciate thanks.
Anyone ever tried instead of hooking it to the battery running a longer wire swapping the factory headlight switch to the one with fog lamps so you can activate and de-activate
You can but you'd need to get creative. The factory switch is momentary and designed to send a pulse to the BCM which latches or breaks a relay. So you'd have to use a module to accomplish this...
Thanks for the awesome video. I just orderd my harness and fog lamps and will be installing soon. Since the the harness turns on the fog lamps with the parking lights, do the fog lights come on with the remote start too (remote start turns on the parking lights only, with no headlamps)? Thanks!
I just got the wiring harness and hooked it up on the drivers side as instructed can connect it to the battery post under the red cap and nothing happens the passenger side head isn’t even on it’s not getting power or something
@@ratherbeboating10 cool. Thanks man I just ordered my harness yesterday and will be going to dealership to buy fog lights and brackets with part#s you provided on your first video. Thanks for your videos
@@87nokturnal If you want to save a few bucks you can order the the brackets and lamps online. My friend works at the dealer so I got his discount on them and then it was the same.
My dealer came up with the same outdated part number I did. They quoted me 48$ with my discount for just the plug ends (still wrong). So that plus relay (20$) plus wiring (15$) wire loom etc. (10$) and it's about the same as the Gen5diy setup and you don't have to assemble it yourself. But if you have everything aside from the plugs it isn't a bad way to go.
Thank you. I found this on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/2016-2018-Chevy-Tahoe-left-right-fog-light-wiring-pigtail-genuine-OEM-84307173/283335659558?hash=item41f81f1026:g:xzsAAOSwZKJcEBdq Look about right?

Good to know I'm not the only one who struggles with screws and holes. 😂
Still have that harness?

Did you end up adding a fuse if so what size?
@@theone-ti4rt i want to say 10 amp
Sir, I posted your videos over in the Tahoe/Yukon forum. I hope you are okay with that. Excellent videos!
No problem at all.

Yes. (Sorry, my inbox just mass dumped messages today lol.)

Well that is interesting. Is it the headlight or the lamp that isn't working.
ratherbeboating10 headlight when I plug in the diy harness but if I plug back in the regular harness head light and leds come right on no problems
Should I connect the red wire to one of the terminals under the black cap or try it like you did it
@@mr.ridin26s59 Honestly that's strange. But yes, that red wire needs to be connected to battery positive.
ratherbeboating10 ok I’ll try a few things tomorrow I have led bulbs coming in for the headlights. Its probably something I’m just over looking
After you checked the passenger blinker you turned your headlight dial to off or auto? I didn't see any daytime running lights.
Auto I believe but the DRL doesn't come on until you're in drive.
@@ratherbeboating10 oh yeah that's right I forgot about that. So the fog lights are off when your in drive?they get activated with the side markers?
@@87nokturnal that is correct

Any luck on where to source the fog light plugs? Is this not available through the dealer?

Look about right?
Oh my bad, so the gen5diy harness already has the correct pigtails on it. Got you. I misunderstood.
@@traviskyle3190 Yup. It's good to go.
Also Sir, can you confirm the harness you ordered from Gen5diy?
My bad, I just updated the description with the link lol.
$117 for a harness? Hard pass!
Yea it's a little pricey. I didn't pay 117 but still expensive. I have yet to find the correct plug for those bulbs though.
