The first F&F was about an undercover cop stopping street racers from stealing car parts. The newest one is about the government hiring said street racers to pull off a heist to take back an experimental gravity device from the brother of one of the street racers.
Swedish person here. I distinctly recall reading about this heist in the papers, but I actually had no idea the culprits had been caught and the paintings recovered until I came across Internet Historian's video. I guess the media is just more interested in reporting on exciting crime than the resolution of those crimes. Oh well.

Fun Fact: The guy playing the part scholar part daredevil guy is a youtuber named Chavezzslovakia who reacts to Interenet Historian and became friends with Internet Historian(I've been subscribed to him since he started TH-cam btw). Also Chavezz didn't get to practice his lines. He thought he was going to when got the lines, but Internet Historian just decided to record it without practice lol.
Designated Swedish person here! Yeah that's how our prisons work here lol we focus more on rehabilitative justice which usually does work quite well. When someone is a small petty criminal like a thief or possession of drugs type crimes it is far better to work towards rehabilitation rather than having them get stuck in the prison cycle, in and out, in and out. Of course there are cases like this where it doesn't work out. America could do this system only with huge societal reforms. Both countries tho could benefit on working more on looking at what makes people commit crimes and fixing those problems. Hope that gives a bit of insight to why we do it!

Due to our constitution we also have no death penalty to preserve human dignity and cells are more like ivy-league school dorms where inmates have keys to, their own bathroom, and they have acess to a group kitchen with actual kitchen equipment. Guards are also very hands-off and dont show weapons, tazers, batons, etc. and are more specialized in psychiatric treatment. They believe villainizing inmates makes them become more agressive and dangerous. Our idea of prisons in germany and most of europe is to rehabilitate people, not alienate them from society. Allow them to find a new foothold in life and become a functioning member of society. Here we are even closing down prisons because the crime rate is significantly decreasing. Heck, even trying to escape from a prison will not add to your tally because it is seen as a natural human thing to find "freedom". You also have vocational training, acess to education or even you can leave during the day for a job or even visit family alsong as you return
7:40 Its a pretty common thing that in EU if you are a petty criminal with a low level threat and you're in for small crimes, even tho you're serving your sentence, after a while you are authorized to leave the prison for the week end, to be with your familly or even to try to find futur prospect jobs as a way to be a reformed criminal. You can participate in re-insertion programmes to learn a new job, specially in Sweden where the re-insertion success rate is pretty darn high. Funny thing is that even if you try to escape the prison in Sweden(or was it Danemark?) your sentence will not be worse. It is considered a basic Human right/feeling to want to seek freedom, if they catch you, you simply will go back and serve the rest of your sentence.
There are prisoners in the US serving sentences who get out of the prison to work etc. Usually "well behaved" and low-risk prisoners with petty crimes. Atleast some states have those.

Yes thats how the prison system works in sweden, its not uncommon to get comunity service for gangraping someone, prison time is short because we are "humane" AKA all the prisons are full so they need rotation on prisoners. Its common that you will be released after your court sentence and have to wait in line for months for an open prison slot

Low security prisons exist in many places in the USA. You are mistaken that it doesn't happen. People go in, serve for the week end, and then go back out to do their day job.
Just a side note, police can’t provoke people to into commiting crimes in Sweden, in a simular way that evidence gathered by illegal means can’t be used in US courts (we don’t have that here. It’s basically so that police can’t pretend to sell drugs and then arrest someone for taking the offer, since there is a chance that the person buying the drugs wouldn’t have done it if the police didn’t create such an opportunity. Badically, it’s considered artficially creating an opportunity for a crime, just to then arrest any rando taking the bait, regardless of whether or not they would have been drawn to crime without said opportunity created by the police.

Failing to present to the determined hour will result in you staying permanently jailed until the end of the sentence. It's trust-based, basically. Or at least, that's what I understood from living in Europe.

In America, anyone from a mass murderer to someone who had a bag of weed on them are treated the same and their rights stripped. In countrries like Sweden and Norway there are aspects of the justice system regarding imprisonment that focus more on the severity of the crima, and virrtually no rights are stripped
Omg, you don't just steal art like that. You only work on commission for a client who will actually take it and your payment is assured. You don't steal an easy to track item and then look for a buyer, the police will be all over that shit.
