I can relate. This also reminds me of grade school. The teachers would ask: "Why haven't you done your homework?" and as soon as you open your mouth, they would be screaming "I don't care about your excuses! Stop explaining!" So next time I would not answer and the teacher would scream: "I asked a question, answer me!" I open my mouth and the same thing :D (btw I am not from Asia).

Its a smart way to ask a question actually. The first part gives you a recommended option prefered by the asker. The second part asks if you have an alternative. So if ur a smart ass, "You stupid or what?" Can be answered with "No im not stupid. Just not smart"
I always gave the sassy remark, so if my mom asked me that I’d just say that I’m a 9 year old minor so yeah you better believe you’re responsible for all the stupid shit I’m gonna be doing. Like that’s your job right? ( minus the curse words)... and when she’s about to beat me or chuck at me whatever’s close by, I’d just run away and tell her what she’s doing is technically illegal, so I could call child services.
