I still will always love the look of adidas. Growing up on old school hip-hop... Adidas was the shoe to wear. That being said, my wide feet don't allow me to rock em
Adidas seems to have a separate lifting shoe design department that only caters to narrow feet. Maybe the idea is that squishing the foot makes it more stable, but then why did they go wide with The Total...
I think it more so has to do with the last construction that has been used on prior models. Cheaper for adidas to use a similar mold and only tweak things like upper materials than redo the whole shoe/shape 🤔
Im confuse to decide which is better adidas powerlift 5 or adidas adipower ? Im usually use size 10 uf im buying those shoes should i go half size up ? Thanks
Thank you! Depends what you’re after - what do you currently wear? I like the legacy lifter II, personally. The powerlift models are also solid for their price. If you look into older models you can usually get them for less than $100, too! The og legacy lifter is also on sale through some outlets as well. Rom 3/4 are okay - but only if you can find them for less than $150. Not worth $200, imo
@@thatfitfriend I'm not using none of them. Usually to lift I wear my metcons 6, but I think it's time to use some weightlifting shoes, cause I increase my.... weight?? I can't find the words but I think you understand me what I mean.
I am a bit confused about the heel height. When you in the video state that it is 0.6 inches that does not agree with the text on the shoe. It says " stack height" is 34mm witch would be 1.36 inches of heel height... Are you talking about the heel to toe drop?
@@moggstro heel height in the context of weightlifting shoes is heel to toe drop! You have to consider the forefoot, too, so the heel height is the diff between the stack height of the heel versus the forefoot 🫡
Hey, I want to ask, I ordered EU 42, it's for 26,5cm feet which I have, but feel quite narrow for pinky toe, I want to return those and go up with size. Should I go up .5 or 1 size up? What you think? 😀 Thanks.
I really hate that the solution for a narrow width is sizing up in length. There is no way in any world where having an extra inch in the toes or your heel not hitting the cup is safe or comfortable.
I’m in the same camp of thought for the most part. In most cases, folks end up feeling like they’re swimming in their shoes which is I’m usually like…just opt for a better fitting shoe/last.
Hi Jake, Nice review! What would be the difference between the powerlift 4 and 5. Wich one would you recommend? Both are the same price with the sale around my place. I ask this because I just bought the 4s yesterday should I send them back at get the 5s for the same price? Or is there no difference?
Thank you. The upper constructions, mostly. IMO, I like the 4 a tad better because I felt as though the upper was more forgiving for different foot anatomies, but both models work fine and well!
I just got the Powerlift 4 in 10 and 10.5 to try for a bargain price! Half a size up is 100% necessary for me. Unfortunately the metal eyelets dig into my foot - if it didn't have them they would be perfectly comfortable. I would also like it to be more breathable. Do you think I should try the powerlift 2/3? Is it the same fit, more breathable? Is the heel height going to be very noticeable or problematic for dead lifts?
Powerlift 3 would probably be the better call - not sure if they'll be much better for you regarding breathability though. Same fit, yes. Yes. IMO, unless you're doing weightlifting specific pulling (clean pulls, building strength off the floor with this style of footwear, etc.), then I would take them off for pulls as an elevated heel can mess with deadlift mechanics for most recreational lifters.
Hi! how does Adidas powerlift 5 compares to Adipower3? does 90€ extra worth for that little extra height heel? I compete in powerlifting competitions(well only once yet lol), always trained with converses chuck tailors, would you recommend me powerlifts 5 or adipower 3? is that height heel really important if i squat low bar and i dont have mobility issues? would these shoes add more stability than converses? thanks alot! hope you respond, because im lost rn 😅
IMO, not prob worth for your context. It’s tough to say regarding heel height without seeing your squat mechanics, but my gut says it will prob matter very little to you and I’m curious if you’ll end up preferring your converse or weightlifting shoes for low-bar once you play with both. That being said, I’d go powerlift and use them as a tool to see where they fit your training/competition context. For ex, if you prefer your converse once you try them, you could always use them for high bar in the off season etc.!
Got those for 70 euroes, first lifting shoes so felt like I could not get a better price for a better shoe. Love them, would maybe like a bit higher heel but whatver, it just means I should work more on my mobility. For a beginner like me they are great. Like you said, I wish the toe box was wider. I'm used to barefoot shoes or altra shoes so I love wide toe-boxes. I will probably change shoes in the future if I continue lifting, but for a price like that I can't say no.
Love it. Yeah, you can always level up and with the TYR model coming out in November you'll have a wider toe box option to look into once you've let these run their course. Good model to acclimate to a heel and figure out what you like/want.
For someone with wide feet, for strenght workouts (with deadlifts, squats, front squats, bulgarian split squats...) and for recreational focus, which is the overall best shoes to buy? I'm so divided between a lot of shoes: - metcon 8 - rebook nano x2 - adidas the total - adidas powerlift 5 - Reebok Lifter PR II
@@tallrodster7103 I just bought the Adidas The Total and I really enjoy them. I was already used to a low profile shoe, this was really what I was looking for. The toebox is somehow wide, but I'm happy I didn't went down half size since it would probably be too small for my feet afterwards. I wanted to go with the nike metcon 7 or 8. But they were more expensive and the ones I wanted were out of stock. I think that 77€ for the Adidas The Total was a great deal! Sadly in my coutry the sports stores don't have this kind of shoes... so I had no way to try any of these shoes personally. I just ordered them and waited for the best.
You mentioned people with wider feet would likely want to look elsewhere. Do you have any recommendations for shoes that perform similarly but with a wider toe box?
Sorry for the delay here! Been traveling and just got home. Not necessarily better, just different. The PR5 is a cross-training shoe while this model is a weightlifting shoe. It's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. One shoe is more versatile while the other (Powerlift 5) is more specific!
I gave my 4s away a while back, but these feel pretty similar if not a bit narrower at the end of toe box. Unfortunately, I can’t do a side by side atm, maybe I should invest in a new pair 😬
@@ahmad53535383 a good call, IMO, especially if they’re working well for you 💪 Hopefully they continue to drop in price as the 5 becomes more well-known
Good review, thank you. May I ask, why did you decide on Powerlifts over Adipowers? Any advice on heel height would be appreciated as I don't know whether I'd benefit from the added height. I generally squat low bar, plus the other compound movements. Maybe looking into clean and press soon. Thanks!

Ah awesome, in which case I’ll follow your channel and await more reviews! Think you’ll do an Adipower video? I use the Powerlift 3’s and honestly, they do the job just fine. Mobility is good incl ankles so I don’t feel the heel would be justified necessarily. I think it’s more just wanting more gear! I appreciate you getting back to me, thank you.
