I love how this turned out! There's a wall in my living room that desperately needs *something* to make it less boring. I want to try your method with less of the brown for an even more subtle design, to add some texture without drawing a lot of attention.
I looked at this two years later, you did a great job I hope you still love it and yes it takes a lot of patience to do that but perseverance is the key to get the results that you want I am going to try this thank you for the inspiration
You can also get brick panels from Home Depot/Lowe's & then do the smear. That way it gives the textured & thick look of brick. They also have different colors other than traditional red.
thanks for the video, i am 80% done with mine when i saw your video and it helped me when i applied the colors. i found out that between having faded color its better to keep it all white. if you apply color then better have it all dark and heavy, hope i can finish mine soon so i can post a video too. thanks for your tips, appreciate it.
Awesome faux brick look ! Thinking on using it when I do my kitchen backsplash . And a sure fire hint to get new area rugs/carpet to lay flat ……just flip it over to the wrong side for several days . Works every time .
I just did this last fall. However I used window/door foam stripping instead of tape. after I used the joint compound and painted the bricks, I added cement caulking in the grout lines.. I have pics of it on my facebook. You did a great job by the way.
Sooooo beautiful!! Wow! Isn’t that amazing how something so simple can make such a huge impact? It literally looks like real brick! Not joking. Great job and thanks for the inspiration!!
Awesome job... thanks for sharing... for the sake of time and the size of my wall, I'll buy a faux brick wall panel from my local big box home improvement store...
That looks so cool and I love how you made it look a little more 3D rather than just having a flat wall! I made an accent wall using high density foam to look like uneven stone in my room makeover video! I love how it came out.
Hack for the rug… get 2 peal and stick linoleum squares. Cut in half to make two triangles per each. Place on each corner and it will weigh down the rug and lay perfectly! :)
Darlin, you did an AMAZING job on this! I was like...uh oh...oh no..at first lol I was skeptical, but WOW. Just WOW! I am thinking my bathroom needs this! LOL
awesome diy!!! I have wanted to add some character to my home without paying an arm and a leg to do it! This is such a helpful tutorial! It turned out beautiful! Great job! I will doing this to a portion of my dinning area!😍❤👌🏻
I wonder if one could leave the tape on until the painting and white washing was done, so as not to have to be so careful painting each individual brick, you could just roll the paint.
I always just used books to flatten rugs always works! Girl you did an amazing job , you inspired me to tackle the faux brick wall ! I have walls in my house begging for some faux brick love 😂 oh and it’s an every Dunkin thing.. always inconsistent 🤪
It looks fantastic! Girl, you scare me on that ladder being pregnant! It gives that wall warmness & dimension. The house looks amazing! Thanks for sharing with us! Have a great day!!! :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-)
It looks great! I've gotta say though, being pregnant can make you crazy ambitious. I remember being about 7 months pregnant with my first son and tearing the wallpaper off of our 30 ft. long kitchen, painting it and stenciling very detailed ivy along the soffits. All on a 6ft step ladder while pregnant. The now 52 year old me would never attempt such a project. 🤣
I love it! Been watching several tutorial on this. I will be doing this outdoor. Do you think the joining compound will crack in the winter? I live in Canada with -40 temp during winter
Great video. The wall came out so good. Since I’m watching it a year after you posted it, how did the joint compound hold up in a high traffic area plus kids?
WOW! You're so patient and exact. My bricks would have all been slanting down and crooked. It came out awesome, I'm so impressed! I kinda want to do the same with my backsplash but with faux subway tile. Got any tips for that?? :). Thanks! -Bev
Remove it when it’s wet! I took mine off as soon as I finished covering the wall. It dries like a rock so you won’t be able to remove the tape if you wait. Thanks so much and good luck!
Yes!! You need to remove the tape before the joint compound is dry! I removed my tape immediately after I finished adding it to the wall when the joint compound was still wet. Let it dry overnight then you can paint it
If you want the "how to," skip to the 6:25 mark. While the presenter seems to be a lovely person, nothing in the first half of this video pertains to how to do it.

This turned out so good!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
You just saved my dream of having a brick wall in my office!
Hi a little tip:
You can get wallpaper that’s a 3D brick texture in plain white. Then you can follow this tutorial as normal and have a 3D effect!
You can also get brick panels from Home Depot/Lowe's & then do the smear. That way it gives the textured & thick look of brick. They also have different colors other than traditional red.

I think it looked lovely just left white....lovely idea.
Good idea. Thanks. I’m using your idea on a wallpaper brick pattering a client put up. Fingers crossed but I think your technique might pull it off!

Looks awesome

Awesome job... thanks for sharing... for the sake of time and the size of my wall, I'll buy a faux brick wall panel from my local big box home improvement store...
This looks amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing! I love that exposed brick look in homes
That looks so cool and I love how you made it look a little more 3D rather than just having a flat wall! I made an accent wall using high density foam to look like uneven stone in my room makeover video! I love how it came out.
I've seen this technique before but yours is my fave. Thanks 😍
That was a lot of work. You did an excellent job you should be proud of the results.

Frantically searching my house for an area to do this in 🤣 DIY QUEEEEEEN SLAYS AGAIN!
😂😂 I told Ryan he’s going to come home to a fully bricked house one of these days
Turned out really good.
This is the coolest and most realistic faux brick tutorial I’ve ever seen! I’m renting my place, but wish I could do this to it!
OMG that faux brick looks amazing!!!!
You did an awesome job!! I going to try it in my kitchen!!
Wow!
Loved how it came out so cute!!
You did a super job! It looks great!!
Love it such a great job
Lady thats a great idea 💕💕💞💞💓💗💗💖💝💘💝💓
Hack for the rug… get 2 peal and stick linoleum squares. Cut in half to make two triangles per each. Place on each corner and it will weigh down the rug and lay perfectly! :)
Wow looks absolutely amazing!! Well done you!!!! 💖
It turned out wonderful. You did a great job.
Love this!💕
Nice job maybe next video can be a diy caramel macchiato
Love it❤, can you paint the entire wall before taking tape off to make quicker? And is it easy to wash walls with the compound on it?
Wow! I love it! Great job 😉
Wow that is beautiful, you did a wonderful job. Prayers for your test results 🤗
Darlin, you did an AMAZING job on this! I was like...uh oh...oh no..at first lol I was skeptical, but WOW. Just WOW! I am thinking my bathroom needs this! LOL
Hi I love it!!
Is any specific joint compound?
Where can I get it from?
Thank you 🙏
Awesome! I'm thinking about doing this too! TFS :)
awesome diy!!! I have wanted to add some character to my home without paying an arm and a leg to do it! This is such a helpful tutorial! It turned out beautiful! Great job! I will doing this to a portion of my dinning area!😍❤👌🏻
Yay! You’ll love it 💜
It looks awsome!!!💜💜💜😄😄
Can I do this over drywall texture?
A hint on how to flatten a new area rug …..just turn it over for a day or two or three . Works every time ( I used to work in a flooring store )
Wow I love this so so much!!!!! Such a great idea!!!
I wonder if one could leave the tape on until the painting and white washing was done, so as not to have to be so careful painting each individual brick, you could just roll the paint.
Great job..do u remove the tape while the joint compound is still wet???
This is beautiful! You did an amazing job.
Thank you!
Do you peel the tape while is wet or dry? Do you do it by sections or all at the same time?
Great job, looks really good.❤️❤️❤️
Wow 🤩 am speechless 😶 looks so good ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm curious to know why you didn't mix the color in the joint compound and then just whitewash if the color is to dark for your taste?
Can’t you mix the brown paint in the compound?
I always just used books to flatten rugs always works! Girl you did an amazing job , you inspired me to tackle the faux brick wall ! I have walls in my house begging for some faux brick love 😂 oh and it’s an every Dunkin thing.. always inconsistent 🤪
Thank you! You need to try it!! 💜
Amazing job! I know you said you go to work....are you into art? You sure do have an artistic streak!
Use a blow-dryer to warm up your rug. It will lay down.you might want to just heat the rug. Don't want your flooring to start to come up from the heat
Lol, after complaining about your sweet coffee from DD, I see you got a bottle of iced coffee during your Walmart run 😁.
THANK YOU!!! I wanted the wallpaper but that thing for one wall is like $200. So thank you so much because I want this so muc
That looks Amazing 😍
It looks fantastic! Girl, you scare me on that ladder being pregnant! It gives that wall warmness & dimension. The house looks amazing! Thanks for sharing with us! Have a great day!!! :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-)

😂😂 it’s so crazy what nesting will make you do!
My goodness girly! Looks auhhmazing 💗
Looks so good!!! You're amazing! I don't think I would have the patience lol
Haha thanks girl! I blame it on nesting 😂
I love it! Been watching several tutorial on this. I will be doing this outdoor. Do you think the joining compound will crack in the winter? I live in Canada with -40 temp during winter
Annaliza Galang use mortar.
Could you add paint to the compound to skip a step?
Great video. The wall came out so good. Since I’m watching it a year after you posted it, how did the joint compound hold up in a high traffic area plus kids?
Great. But wouldn't it have been easier to add the brown color while the tape is still on?
What size did u make each brick?
Holy Moly!! That is cool! How long did it take from start to finish? Tfs, Laura
WOW! You're so patient and exact. My bricks would have all been slanting down and crooked. It came out awesome, I'm so impressed! I kinda want to do the same with my backsplash but with faux subway tile. Got any tips for that?? :). Thanks! -Bev
Hmm I’ve never seen anyone do faux subway tile, but the subway tile we installed is from floor and decor and it was so cheap!
Jessica Giffin Thank you Jessica, I will check them out. Have a great weekend
Question?? Do you let the joint compound dry before you pull the tape off?? And you did an amazing job. Going to try this myself :)
Remove it when it’s wet! I took mine off as soon as I finished covering the wall. It dries like a rock so you won’t be able to remove the tape if you wait. Thanks so much and good luck!
@@JessicaGiffin Thank you for answering. One other question please? Did you water down the white paint to whitewash it?
You did such a awesome job! Looks so goooood! What’s the size of the spacing for the tape? I already know what bedroom wall I’m doing lol
That looks so good!!! I love it!
Jessica , it looks fabulous! I have one question... how does that smell compare to the varnished doors at your job? 🙊
Haha there is no comparison 🤤🤣
This looks amazing. Love it. Was there a reason that you pulled the tape off before you put the brown paint on? Seems like it would have been easier.
Yes!! You need to remove the tape before the joint compound is dry! I removed my tape immediately after I finished adding it to the wall when the joint compound was still wet. Let it dry overnight then you can paint it
Usually if you turn the rug over and roll it back up the unroll and flip back it should help it lay flat!!
Great idea, thank you!!
Has anyone tried this over wood paneling that's been painted?
Let ice cubes melt on your rug edges and corners.
Love love love the faux brick!!! It turned out amazing! 🙌🏻
McDonald's is the SAME WAY with their iced coffee. Sometimes it tastes AMAZING and other times I'm like... how does it taste THIS bad?! 🤢
Haha yes!!
The faux brick wall turned out fabulous. Great job!
Yes!!
YES!!!!why lol when it's done by the machine mostly I think a lot of them are to lazy to add enough pumps of the flavorings
Omg ugh I love it can you come help me lol haha 😂
roll the rug in to opposite way...should straighten it out :)

Steam the rug
literally 7 to watch what this video is about. Good content, just cut to the chase please.
