🙃 Thanks Naomi! Mmmm not talking about llamadas here. But maybe there is one in one of the examples. Not easy to answer your question here, I need to make videos on the llamadas! There are several types of llamadas, usually calling for the cante (e.g a letra), or as a transition to another part of a baile. Llamadas come from the dancer. But again, it's more complex than that ;-)

Sevillanas is often taught as a first dance in most studios. Even though it's technically not Flamenco, does it still follow the Andalusian Cadence traditionally?
The line between what is flamenco and what is not is blurred. It is not objective and will depend on the criteria taken into account. I consider the Sevillanas as part of the flamenco repertoire, with a specific structure and rules. However, it is true that a Sevillana is closer to a "song" than a "cante", in that it is an original composition (whose author/composer is often known) and whose melody, accompaniment and lyrics are specific to this particular Sevillana. You will therefore be able to find Sevillanas composed in the 3 main modes that flamenco uses: - Flamenco mode (based on the Andalusian cadence) - Major Mode - Minor mode And very often Sevillanas that mix the 3 modes (but always keeping a harmonic "center of gravity"). I hope to be clear!

Sometimes the "foreign-ness" and uniqueness of Flamenco is masked by its simplicity, but it still requires really good instructors to make it accessible to reach...and oh yes...In English (for the peasants)!!
