  • In this episode of Kingpin Garage, I remove the stock 10-bolt out of my LeMans (aka the LeMonster) and install a Yukon DuraLock Posi and 3.73s. I also convert from drum brakes to disk brakes.

    I would have liked to see a bit more in depth on the ring & pinion install. I have a ‘72 Luxury LeMans with the same diff. I did upper & lower tubular control arms from UMI with poly bushings. I would love the rear disc brake & posi.! Where did you source your parts from.?

      My diff and ring & pinion are from Yukon

    Is there a reason you didn't mention how you did the gear set up?

    Good job. Gee i could use the old spider gears and pin as mine broke, hard to find that stuff these days.

      I accidentally bought an entire ring an pinion setup that was incorrect because the correct ones are so hard to find

    I am rebuilding my 67 pontiac rear-end also, have a yuhon grizzly locker on the way with 3.73 gears, and I am swapping a 6.0 LS engine that's been freshened up to about 435-450 hp at the crank, wanted to beef up the 8.2 in it. Also going to be putting disc brakes on the rear, and in the front as it has drums up front 😆😆, my concern was rear-end strength as the car will have over double the hp and torque the original engine had, and needles to say the usage probably gonna be a little harsher than daily driving 😅😅, I was think of doing the gears myself but have basically zero experience in rear-end rebuilds, and hopefully if I find a good shop that could do that. Did you upgrade the axles also or just use the original axles?

      I used the original axles in mine. If you have the option I would recommend against using the BOP 10 bolt. I built this when the old motor was still in it and now it has a 6.0 as well. It hasn’t broken yet, but it very well could soon. If you can i would either get a 12-bolt out of a Chevelle or upgrade to a Ford 9-in. It’s a much more wise decision to make that upgrade, especially when power adders come in.

    I just seen you grinding down the axel a bit. I just ran into the same clearance issue with my slotted rotors. Didn't know that you can grind it down. I was thinking about it! just was checking on anyone's form to see what i had to do.

      Honestly it wasn’t an exact science. If your car is gonna go high speeds I would recommend having a shop turn them down on a lathe instead

      Sounds great. I didn’t shave much off, just remember to bring the rotor so they know how much to take off.

      @Kingpin Garage just dropped it off to them. They going to have it for the week possibly. Thanks again for the feedback. I'll send you the link to my video when it's done.

    Great job! Why did you set fire to the inside? Not a car guy so it's a legit question. Would that amount of hear potentially create weak spots in the metal or warping?

    • @KingpinGarage
      @KingpinGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I set the inside on fire to introduce heat to loosen up the pressed in bearing races. The housing is so thick it didn’t even get hot so no chance of warping. Also it looked cool
